Another great video. Keep it up. To make good quality spot welds you have to make the welding electrodes to be coaxial when the welding materials are between the electrodes & the proper clamping force is applied. Sparking is not normal and could be dangerous ( proper protective gear is a must ). The factory supplied upper tong end has to be bent more to get coaxial with the bottom end. It is obvious that for every thickness of welded materials you will have to use different diameter / length welding tips & set up their alignment individually. A timer is also a must for good quality spot welds. There are timers with welding time compensation. These are monitoring the welding current and adjusting the welding time accordingly.

Ok, that’s pretty impressive for such a small tool. Sticks perfect. Money well spent 👌🏻

OK. Let's see you fabricate a pedestal and foot actuator set up for the big one.

well i'd be afraid even with dry rubber gloves to hold metal visegrips pinched on a metal plat which comes in contact with 1 or 2 electrodes that are about to short circuit . and have my other hand near the handle near the wires inside the gizmo, because the current would go from one hand to the other hand through my heart possibly if there's a hole in the gloves. Well maybe i'd do it anyway and trust my gloves and brand new machine

so does the 120 volt welder work just as good as the 240 volt welder ? i'm welding auto sheet metal together - so nothing really thick.
@northcountry9926

Yes. . .it is NOT just as good, however it WILL do the job for sure!

No, it will not be nearly as effective or weld the same level of strength between two different sheets of metal. And if you’re doing it on a thicker sheet of metal it will not even work.

The 120 is basically for the lightest and thinnest sheets of metal. For example the 120 will not weld metal on cars, and if it does it’s very weak and won’t hold up well for long time

Is the time difference between the 110 and 220 linear?

Sorry, I do not know the inner workings of these welder(s).

The 110 v you can weld up to .125” sheet metal total (so 2X 16Ga.) and galvanized metal up 2X 20Ga. The 220 up to 3/16 sheet metal total and galvanized up to 18Ga. Good idea is to read the manual instructions

can I cut 120v plug off and wire 220v plug to save $ and have larger current ?
@northcountry9926
@northcountry9926 2 года назад
I WOULDN'T. The machine needs to handle the current. Death or serious injury could result "in my opinion"! Check with a professional, which definitely is not me! Have a blessed day!

I did it and it works great, as it would otherwise, at two poles 120 V and that's it 👍👍👍

No, the 120v version is wound for 120v and if you put 240v on it you'll kill it. In my opinion as a licensed electrician.

Next time you're in Menards , ask for help , they always have 6-50 plugs , I posted the menards link but screwtube keeps deleting it ? ?

I did go to Menards, AND I did ask for help. The trouble was that "nobody" knew what I was talking about??? LOL, it's true! I wondered around that electrical department what seemed like an hour, HA!

If you were asking for a welding plug that may have thrown them , next time ask for a 6-50P plug and they'll know what you want . @@northcountry9926
