I bought 5 with a COUPON. The store nearest to me was 30+ miles away. They opened up a new one half that distance. So any time I go to Home Depot, pass it, and hit Harbor Freight first. Bought the 2 year membership for 40 and the card comes with a $10 gift card. I'm retired and anything helps. I keep looking for those coupons. Last month was the 4 foot aluminum ones with a flat jaw. The store ran out and not available online. When you can't get what you want, make what you need. This is a great hack. Changing all of mine.
Very cool hack. I recently bought a doweling jig, so with the dowels, and this clamping system, I should get some very strong edge to edge boards. Thanks so much!
Just lay the clamps on their side and rock the jaws up slightly. I do it all the time. You're not getting much clamping pressure with those wooden pieces.
Adding the blocks is a good idea but I think you would get even pressure if you flipped them over and clamped with the correct side, with the blocks in place. If anything they will help with stability
Also consider Harbor Freight aluminum bar clamps. They are inexpensive. They work well enough right from the store and they can be easily improved to work much better. They are especially well-suited to panel glue-ups because the adjustment screw is lower and closer to the center of the boards being glued.
Thanks for the great work around👍 Have been contemplating HF clamps for a while now. My biggest curiosity is the router table, looks like and old Craftsman table I have been eyeballing. Is it a Craftsman, and if so how do you like it?
