Harborview diverting some patients is an 'incredibly difficult decision'

Harborview Medical Center will no longer accept patients that aren't in need of urgent care in order to help address its overcrowding issue, hospital leadership announced Thursday.
Patients not in need of urgent care will be diverted to other area hospitals, at least temporarily, CEO Sommer Kleweno Walley said. This is to ensure Harborview maintains capacity as the only trauma center in Washington state for level 1 care.
It was an "incredibly difficult decision," she added.

Literally no. WA state specifically loss less than 2% of our medical professionals to the mandate. Staffing shortages have been an issue since long before the pandemic

My elderly aunt broke her wrist badly I seen pictures. She lives on Whidbey Island and they took x-rays, but said they can't see her to fix it until maybe a week. I don't get it! It may be infected by then, and she has to just manage with a severe break. I feel so sorry for her, and others alike.

Homeless call 911 and ask to go to the hospital all the time. It's good for a warm bed and a meal. Costs the hospitals a fortune.

I used to work here. I can definitely say the overcrowding is an issue. This is overcrowding and not sustainable. Something has to be done.
