I ride loose Indys with the hard indy bushings. I love being able to turn easily but still have that sort of bouncy feel. Its great because it prevents you from getting wheel bite while not having to tighten your trucks down.

I hear bones bushings are better for turns and indie tend to burst

Best combo Indeed. I weight around 185 lbs and I had to switch to hard Indy bushings and it feels so much better. I tight the trucks just until the first thread and I can turn easily but I don't get wheelbite anymore neither auto turn

How can you possibly get *less* wheelbite with softer bushings? They’re able to turn to the point the wheel is flat against the board because of the softness?

Because you tighten the trucks then the looseness comes from the bushings so you don't randomly dig your wheels into the deck

I don't know if control is the right word. Soft bushings certainly give you more maneuverability, but I would say they also provide less stability. For instance, Bob Burnquist uses the hardest bushings he can find, so he has more stability on Mega Ramps. It's about the give and take between maneuverability and stability for me.

Great way to put it. Soft are better for turns and allow your trucks more flexibility. I noticed loose trucks are actually more prone to wheel bite not the other way around. Where as hard keeps your board more in place, but you loose out on the flexibility of your trucks that allows for maneuvering and turning with the ease of just leaning.

If you’re a heavier skater, you might just completely shred those soft stock bushings while “breaking them in” 😂 not like I’m speaking from experience or anything.

No shame in riding black or even yellow Indy bushings! Nobody's got time to fool themselves into believing that the standard orange bushings might work. They never do bro and the disappointment is the same each time you try afterall :D Greetings from a 220lbs (100kg) rider!

Got my first skateboard in probably 16 years - I’m now 19 stone and first go on my new board the bushings just died 😂😂. Went any bought the hardest ones I could get

ya i just started skating again at 30, im about 240 pounds. i set up a new complete with independents on them, skated it for 2 days and i busted the orange medium bushings lol. i ordered the yellows. hopefully ill still be able to turn due to my weight, hopefully i can go back to the mediums one day weight permitting : P

@@brandonjdean lol we’ve all been there. I went back to the black ones from yellow for most of my trucks. Sometimes I still ride 169s with yellow ones simply bc the trucks have more leverage due to the width. To me both the yellow and black ones turn nicely actually because of my weight. Only lighter riders will say that they don’t turn at all …

Iv never had this issue, but i recently bought some reynolds indy trucks, and they wont tighten any more but are super loose still. My thought was maybe i needed softer bushings so it could possibly tighten a bit more?

Whats the difference between riding a board with soft (88a) bushings with the trucks tightened up and a board with medium (9a ) bushings but screwed looser? I've been riding long ditches and I'm going to try some bowls at a park.

I'm 160lbs, ride 96a bushings, but it seems like my comfort zone for truck tightness still warps the bushings. My board has always veered to one side because of it but I can't stand loose trucks. I feel like harder bushings would just feel weird to skate, anyone got tips?

Indies seem to stick more instead of allowing flexibility. Not a fan tbh. Try bones bushings. They have a shape that allows for turns without your board veering to one side. Good bounce back. Go with medium. It's like the middle ground for people who skate inbetween loose and tight. You won't really loose much of that tight feeling, but it will solve your turning issue. If some reason it's still too loose, buy hard. However, I think medium could solve your problem.

@@loki-of-asgard7877 I appreciate the response man, honestly since I posted this comment I've learned to like looser trucks lol and even though I'm thinking of switching out my indys, I think the problem was just over-tightening the bushings. Mediums are okay but when you're 6'5, 160lbs hards are the way to go!

@@loki-of-asgard7877 I just picked up my first pair of indy stage 11 hollows yesterday. I ride my trucks medium loose , coming from venture hollows 5.6.. These Indys have a more breaking in time I’m assuming .. ventures feel solid right out out of box and the board never stays tilted to one side. I’m going to throw in the bones medium and hards , hoping that will solve the problem. I love ventures but Indys sit a 1/4 more forward in regards to axle positioning and wheel base , I want that true wheel base feel.

I put some old bushings on my new deck and they turned out to be really hard and they are trash. I can’t turn even with the kingpin nut off. Unless your riding a mega ramp or live in the mountains then don’t get hard bushings. It’s like having super tight trucks and that’s only good for high speeds. Just FYI for all the kids trying to pick.
