Hard Edge Intuitive Painting Time Lapse - Part 2 is finally finished! I painted late into the night to get this intuitive hard edge painting completed. This painting took a while to find its way, but I am happy with the direction it ended up going. This painting was completely intuitive and a series of actions and reactions.
48" x 36" acrylic on canvas
If you liked the time lapse hit the thumbs up, it's greatly appreciated! And don't forget to subscribe for more art and painting videos.

...It's both relaxing and useful watching these capsules... I find them particularly valuable as they deal with composition / design in pure form which, surprisingly, is a rarity in the video clips' world, saturated by information on textural effects (plastic bags, alcohol drops, random pouring, etc.). Another great feature is that the work doesn't look formulaic, but fresh and surprising every time... It's interesting to me that, although the overall design is not planned, the final images are strong and dynamic, yet stable, well balanced. The explanation, I think, resides in the logical use of directions, with some horizontal stabilizers, usually stripes. The site should be much more widely known, in my opinion... A true artist...

Truly fantastic to watch you work! I’m guessing the intuitive part(s) include the next move or sectioning as well as the colour choice? My style of intuitive is slapping paint on a canvas and then carving something out of it - so the expected, make a mess approach and hope something finally comes out of it! (LOL), So I truly appreciate your commitment, discipline and restraint. It drives me crazy (in the best way) with anxiety wanting to soften edges and make marks with each step you take. Really appreciate your work!

Thank you! I call it all intuitive work because I start with a blank canvas and no plan at all. Whatever happens, happens! I think my technical background drew me into more of the hard edge style, though there was a period where everything was super soft and flowed into each other. I have ADHD, so it’s hard to try and plan things out and I find it a lot more enjoyable and therapeutic to just go with the flow and make decisions on the spot. With this style you can never be wrong 😆

Really nice piece. I dig the super clean lines, and color. Those reds are so saturated and vibrant that they practically jump off of the screen. Great energy, I dig your style 👌😊 -Best of luck on your art and your channel, and much support from one artist to another. -Huge 👍's up!

Can I ask what masking gel you use, is it GAC200? I use a non name brand from here in Australia and have found on odd occasion it bleeds, l though I do not use 2 or 3 coats, maybe that is the solution

I actually just use matte medium, usually either from Nova Color Acrylics or Golden. I find I get a good crisp line most of the time

Thank you! The green tape is STIKK brand 1/4 inch painters tape, I get it from Amazon in a 3 pack for around $9 usd. It’s really good tape!
