Hard plumbed Intex pool with thru wall skimmer 

You did a great job. I hard plumbed my 24' intex pool. I changed all "intex" fittings to Hayward fittings. I use a Hayward 300lb sand filter and a 1 1/2 HP Hayward power flo matrix pump. I used a Hayward cl200 inline chlorinator. I used a 1 1/2" ball valve at each fitting followed by 3 way valves to control flow and isolate areas if needed. I buried my PVC so all you see is what comes out of the ground.

The turbine bearings went out and the turbine got scored really bad. I just in the last week got it replaced and it works fine now.

Ah salt! That explains the rusted motor bearings.

myself included and others I know have had no problem with intex products. You have to have a salt water system installed after your pump if your going to use salt. since you don't, the salt is not creating the chlorine and I think the salt not being converted is why your having so many problems.

Just food for thought, DON'T hard pipe all the way From Pool to Pump, You should leave some WIGGLE room for the movement of the Pool, Both Supply and Return should have at least a 1-3' Flex hose, either Intex hose or Flexible PVC.

you should use zeosand in the filter. Cleans like DE!

Did you install the bulkheads into the side of the pool wall or did the pool come like that? I'm trying to adapt a pump/sand filter but cant get Plunger valves anywhere.

Can anyone explain why the intex has to out hoses from the pool going to the pump?

I'm getting ready to install a Hayward skimmer in the same pool. Why did you keep the old intake in place instead of capping it off? I was planning to put the skimmer where the outflow is presently, and keep the old intake for the output.

Your skimmer leaks because it's not completely tight. Those Hayward skimmers take A LOT of tightening to be on snug.

Holy Mackerel why didn't you just by Intex products. AKA intex skimmer, intex auto pool cleaner, intex sand and saltwater system??? Its all compatible.

Why did your skimmer leak around pool liner. I have a pool which is about 1 month old and feel like I need to install a skimmer to collect all those dead bugs on a daily basis. My old pool came with a skimmer and had stitching around the hole were the skimmer was mounted. The new pool is a Coleman 22' x 54'' and not sure if the pool liner will hold up or leak.
