Instead of standing on your head with a piss poor design automobiles fuse panel, Ford recommends you do a hard reset by just taking the battery terminal off.
My 2021 Ford Expedition is messed up rn too. Bluetooth went away and a day later the navigation went away so I checked for updates and it was good so I did a hard reset and never turned back to normal, it’s on but screen is black, I pulled the sync fuse and it was good.. reverse and 360 view still works.. ride won’t be able to get into dealership till another 2 weeks
Yeah more than likely it needs an accessory protocol interface module and that's the module that I replaced in my videos that you see sometimes they go to the back of the screen it's not the screen itself but it's the back module that attaches to the screen
Hi Mr. I have a question about my Sync in my Ford Edge 2011 is not turning on like the case you show on the video. Only when I disconnect the power and put it back the radio works for like 30 secs but it turns off back again, but with the screen still off. And just try the fuse 29 same in my Edge by the book same. Any ideas will must appreciated? Thanks
I have a 21 mach 1 that has the automatic update frozen while it's installing. The progress bar on the install hasn't moved in about a week. Everything works fine other than that. Would doing this procedure in your video fix the problem? Thank you.
Hey there, Good Video. I have an 04 Lincoln Town Car. My radio unit is a factory all-in-one radio/navigation/cd changer system that came with certain Town Car models for a few years. The fuses for this thing are in both locations; There's a fuse for this unit in the fuse box under the dash, and there is also a fuse for it in the fuse box under the hood. There is no fuse in the back of this radio/navigation/cd system. Because my cd player acts up lately, I try unplugging and then plugging back the fuse in the fuse box under the hood, in order to get the cd player to work again. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't always work. Do you know why this might be the case?
Thanks for the video, battery "died" during an oil change, after a jump, stereo and reverse cam is not working, leaving batt disconnected over night, if that doesnt work, trying this.
Fixed, didnt get to the fuse, just leaving the battery disconnected overnight brought back sync and kept my settings. So much struggle from an oil change...
Hi there! I have a 2018 F-150 with 8” sync3. Screen no longer turns on and won’t reset with power/seek buttons or fuse pull. The 2 usb auxiliaries in the well also do not work, won’t charge a phone or provide power. They used to but everything seemed to die at once. Strangely my compass on my instrument panel only gives a North reading and never changes regardless of direction. Would you say this is a bad apim? Thanks for the video as well!
@@Kryptix84 Exact same problems for me with 2018 Ford Edge. Screen doesn’t come on, no backup camera, USB ports don’t work, no radio either (which I find odd). The reset with power/seek didn’t work and neither did pulling the fuse. Not sure what to do besides take it in to get serviced
I just did this reset on a 2012 mkx. Didnt work. I did have the radio turn on for a min. Tried a couple times. Nothing. So am I looking at a new apim? Does that need to be programmed by Ford?
I just shut my car off. Open the door then close it and lock it with the key fob. Wait 5 seconds and then start the car. The system just reboots itself after like 10 seconds. It doesn't happen often but it did just happen to me again after it happened 5 months ago.
@@FordBossMe the black screen also comes with a warning message right before it turns black. I think I'm the only one that has an actual clear image of it. I haven't seen it posted anywhere. I have the sync 2 system in my 2014 flex. It just does this weird thing where it'll just be on one minute and then the next the warning box pops up that let's you know this is like some windows 98 type of programming in the sync 2 systems. Then the screen goes black. It takes a couple of reboots but the problem seems to just fix itself after a couple of times doing what I said to do. It'll shut down and reboot 2 to 3 times before the problem goes away. That's just been my experience the 2 times it has happened to me. Both times I just jump straight to RU-vid while it fixes itself to see if I can find a better way.
Just looked at your owner's manual for the fuse for radio, audio control module, or front control interface module. If you pulling the fuse and resetting it doesn't work then you probably going to need an accessory protocol interface module which is about a $500 module and then it's about 2 hours installation so another 350 bucks for labor
The car is cell phone turn on? Or the radio won't turn on? Because if you unplug something and the car won't turn on you had to unplug the wrong thing and in that situation I don't know If you hard reset your radio doing it the way I showed here and it won't come back on that means it was broken and can't be reset and needs to be replaced
2019 explorer sport. Woudlnt start battery dead. Changed battery and fine for a day then radio screen is black. Will givr this a try. Why would it crap out a day later after a battery replacement.
It's going to be under the dash on the driver side or the passenger side you're just going to have to look it's your vehicle you have to take some initiative and get down there and try to look to see it and identify a panel that has a marking and you have an owner's manual for a reason so pull out your owners manual and do your due diligence as an owner to learn that manual
Hi, the screen on my 2016 mustang flashes on and off, The screen still works even when it’s off but it doesn’t stop flashing. I tried disconnecting the battery and also resetting the screen but it doesn’t go back to normal. Maybe it needs a new battery? Or a new screen? Even tho the screen still works even when it flashes off.
Hey, my Ford Focus 2012 sync 2 froze while doing a scheduled system maintenance. After disconnecting from car battery power and disconnecting APIM from power it’s still stuck on the screen. Any advice on a mother way to hard reset it?
There's no magic tricks there's no nothing most of the time when that happens you either going to put a new screen in it or you're going to replace the accessory protocol interface module or audio control module can't bring that back on once it goes out it's out
Will this work with a 2018 ford focus SEL? I did a manual reset holding 2 buttons and my screen worked for like 1 day and when I went to turn the car back on it never came on again, that was like 2 years ago lol
hi mate i have a transit custom 300 limited with the large screen. screen black and sterio works. strange! cant find the fuse ? online shows a totaly different fuse box. any help ????
I'm not in front of the computer right now but if you went to the owner's manual and you went to the fuse box for inside the vehicle you would find something that says radio fuse and if you pull it it'll do the same thing
@@FordBossMe thank you I will look for it. I am currently on sync 3 version 2.2 and I wanted to update to 3.4 via usb. I went directly to the ford website and downloaded the right things for my VIN number. But then it turned black the following day when I turned it on.
I have a 2015 ford focus hatchback and black screen...but i don't think fuses are in that area unless i am missing something...i know under the bonnet is the f29 with no fuse in it at all...but i don't think i have a fuse panel there on the drivers side...unless its under stuff or something????
You have fuses under your dash but if you have a black screen chances are 99.9% you need an audio control module or an accessory protocol on interface module so if I was you I would just get an aftermarket radio installed like Apple radio
Hey boss man I gave this a try and the radio made some static and I could use the volume and that’s more then what I could do before any idea on what I could do next ford wants $150 to just look at it and as a young dad of two that’s hard to pay any help would be greatly appreciated man!!!
It needs a apim or audio control module Either way your looking at 500$ plus Just install a aftermarket radio like Apple car play radio and be done with sync
My screen did this too and it was off for 3 months nothing worked until a couple days ago it turned on out of no where and then it didn’t want to connect to my phone anymore so I tried the master reset this morning and the screen is all black again so i tried what you did in the video but it still won’t turn on:(
I just tried this and the radio came back on for a quick second but then screen stayed black, the radio eventually cut back off and won’t come back on. Any tips ?
I'm not exactly sure you're going to have to pull out the owner's manual and look for the accessory protocol interface module or the radio fuse and pull it
I have an o8 ford edge my friend plugged in his tool to find out what the problem was and it said missing communication to audio control modular.my car starts by itself no key it won't turn off with the key I have to step on the brake I can usually only start it with my electric start after 2 or 3 tries.also my transmission slips and sticks in low range and i have to turn off the ignition then go again and transmission is fine can u help me know what's going on is it a fuse or computer.and if it is fuse where is it and which one help please
Hello I got a problem with mi 2011 Taurus, the audio and a/c buttons doesn't work, when I manage to turn on de a/c I can't turning off and I have to remove the battery, do u know what could ne it?
Yeah you're going to need a radio replacement you're going to have to take it to somebody and they're going to have to program and replace either the audio control module or the accessory protocol interface module
It didn't work for my problem with 2016 lincoln mkx. It turned out to be a bad battery it was only putting out 10.2v barely enough for ignition but not good enough for Sync resulting in dark screen.
I tried removing the fuse and returned it after 30sec. The radio turned on. But after a minute the radio automatically turned off and the screen still was in black. Can you please let me know another solution?
Hello 2012 2 engine ford fusion sony monitor screen is black but everything works but the screen does not open, does not light What do you think is the problem?
My screen shuts off every time I answer a phone call and restarts and my camera is upside only on the screen not the actual camera, u think this will work?
I have a 2014 ford explorer and the screen is frozen,it comes on ,but it stays frozen,it shows all the icons but all frozen and nothing works when I touch the screen.any idea what the reason could be?and by the way,I tried your method by pulling the fuse out, nothing changed.
i have a big problem in my Ford Mondeo mk5 2017 . i download Update 3.4 in usb and i put the usb in car normal first restarted and no display and not working. what i do now??? please help me
Normally when you put some kind of programming into your radio on the Fords and it makes it worse you have to basically replace the accessory protocol interface module because the module itself is bad
@@FordBossMe I fixed mine. I took off the battery and put it back and it reset the computer 💻 it now works. 😱 I'm happy I didn't have to make a trip to the dealer.
hello, can anyone plz help me with my 2017 Ford fusion se, its about the cd player its on and everything working but the screen keep on flashing on and off can someone help me with this problem thank you..
Hi Great video. I have a 2002 Explorer Ford radio. THe radio keeps jumping into Seek and only stays on my chosen station for a few minutes, then it Seeks. What can I do, please?
all I had to do was read the manual like you said and it was simply just powered off😂 thats why everything comes with a manual read it everyone dont be an idiot like me😂
I pulled the fuses and it did not work. Soft reset several times a day. Sync 3 loses memory after shutting down the truck. It changes from FM to Nav or sometimes from Sirius to AM. Sometimes its unresponsive or a black screen. It has a mind of it's own.2019 ranger
You need to take it to a dealership so they can remove and replace the accessory protocol interface module or the front control interface module you need deep Diagnostics
So I have a 2018 Ford Edge se awd I’ve never had any issues with my display screen since I bought it but about 2 weeks ago my radio touch screen display and back up camera all turned off, I don’t know much about cars but I went to Google, I did the soft reset nothing worked, I took the negative side of the battery off nothing worked, the next day the radio and back up camera came on and worked for 3 days before it turned off again. I decided I’d go buy a battery before I paid for a diagnostic test and I just did that today and still nothing works on the display. Should I try to replace the fuses now or just taken it to a dealer? I looked at the fuses and they do not look messed up to me.
A lot of times when it's so bad that they turn off and turn back on it's because you have a bad module it could be your front control interface module the screen or it could be the accessory protocol interface module the device behind it that controls the information that goes through it
Update phone to latest update and Master reset the radio in the settings and if it jams up or works even worse or doesn't work at all still then you are replacing the accessory protocol interface module and it's expensive like 3 hours labor and about 1000 for the module
@@FordBossMe currently my master reset from the settings freezes after i click continue. So do i do the reset like in the video removing the fuse and then do the master reset from settings? Thanks for your response
Same thing try pulling out the owner's manual find the fuse box passenger side I believe and it's behind the plastic in the right pull the radio fuse and wait 5 sec and reinstall See if that resets it
I mean if I knew how to order the Chip And I knew what I was doing I would but I've never been taught how to do that and I don't know how to order the Chip And I don't even know what emmc stands for
When the sync module is removed, there is a chip in the small circuit board with the 8G or 32G written on it, that is, the emmc memory chip. First write the chip program, and then replace it. Most of the module damage is related to the battery undervoltage and the failure to upgrade sync3.2. The previous 3.0 bug. Or high temperature exposure and low temperature will cause this damage. It is a common disease.
Sad thing, my 2020 F150 does this from time to time, twice it’s locked up. You would think by now they would have these problems worked out. I did not do the fuse pull, my dumbass disconnected the battery. 🤣
You're going to have to look at possibly getting the accessory protocol interface module changed....got to look at the other comments man I've already answered this
