On the 14, 15, 16, 17 September 2015, the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies held the HardTalk Debating series (in collaboration with the Wits Debating Union). This debate was entitled: “Feminism in the Kraal?”.
Question is when starting a movement such as feminism - something should've been done already to empower all women to form unity and then start this movement as equal with one another. If you look at this debate- it's mostly based on black women inequality. However, not only black South Africans face this issue - look at the whole world
Also, I think this debate was biased - they only gave black women the opportunity and equal treatment to speak and when other races spoke the speakers (members) was loud and disrespectful. Once again> were they fair on this topic with all members attending the debate= NO. In my opinion = NO. Everyone else felt left out and uncomfortable because of the lack of respect towards each other's rightful opinion being shared. Next time include and take all members attending into consideration especially the men too. How can you debate for a better world as women when you disrespect men to enforce your viewpoint on them? This was just unfair.
I really agree with you here. I haven't watched the full episode but from the little bit that I've watched, it just seems biased and isn't really a logical debate. The problem of the current feminist movement, is that they don't want to hear and understand where the men are coming from. It just creates a space for inconsistency in what and who they are fighting against.This is quite problematic because it just strips away the man's voice (which is ironic, considering that we say that males silence us, when we also silence them by not giving them a chance to speak their truth). I'm also a female too, but it's hard to call myself a feminist because of such.

We already have equal rights in South Africa. Men and women will never be equal. But we do have equal rights since 94. More women make it into varsity and more women graduate. They are not asking for equal rights they asking to be treated like men which is a problem.
I agree with Jayden. No where in the constitution of SA says men have more rights than women. What feminism in our country wants is to be treated like men or be superior than them. That can never happen. Socially women and men are equal. But in other ways it can't happen. No matter how much feminism cries about it, it will not change. Like that women are more likely to enter university than men, they are twice more likely to be hired in the work space than men. Did you know men are more likely to commit suicide than women aswell as drop out school or university because the way the lectures are structured is in women advantage for learning and understanding. IMO they intend to bypass the due process of conversation and compromise. This is done mostly by gaslighting with the “patriarchy” lines to justify their lack of compromise. Also the premise is now flawed since equal rights is last gens fight. Pop media promotes the trend to allow our politicians to continue promoting the system of trickle down corruption.
