Not being rude but I have seen most of the mizo's even on social media they talk in their dialect like only the mizo's are watching them. They don't care about those who don't understand. Mizo's are very self centred people.
It can be called as community-focused, they proudly maintain their identity and language, a contrast to some of us who struggle to speak our mother tongue. Nevertheless, there are both advantages and disadvantages to this approach.
This is a dumb comment , people should speak and promote their own mother tongue there is nothing wrong with this. Do you criticize indians for speaking hindi ? You are the reason why northeast languages are dying , instead of criticizing you should learn from it.

It's better than having to worry about our language becoming extinct....even asked this arunachali guy...how many langauge in Arunachal had been extinct over the passd decade and contrast that with langauge in Mizoram..... Our indentity our culture our people before anything else.... Even I would go as far as saying even God comes 2nd.... (Tawng thu chhelo ah) Sorry if you have anything against ur method but it is a very orthodox method which we planed not to change anytime soon...... Infact Korean , japanese use the same method till date people who wanted to live there even learned their language..... Culture is the key we cannot divert from it...Gods came and goes... But not culture/tradition...
Even the indigenous people used to complain the steep costly prices of vegetables and meat all the time. When it comes to purchasing a consumable commodities like food and daily items always ask help or inquire it from the local people where to purchase it, especially like the owner/manager of your Home stay/rental room or your neighboring room/houses. Mizo people are usually very friendly and always ready to offer help when being requested. Most of the younger generation, if not all, have at least a basic understanding in English language but usually do not speak Hindi. Hope you enjoy your stay here in Mizoram, you are always welcome here. (Taxi is very costly always use a city bus services whenever available, they usually make a stop in a short distances between every locality at a cheap price, you would not go wrong, just tell them the name of the locality (like Khatla, or where ever in your google map) they will charge you accordingly at a cheap and fair prices)
as a non-mizo who has been living in mizoram for years now, I think I am qualified enough to give my two cents on the state especially from an outsiders point of view. as we all know, there are always two sides to a coin, similarly, everything has its own pro's and Cons. I will try to sound as unbiased and non - negative as much as possible but, all I can say is, Mizoram in general isn't for the weak if you are an outsider. The culture shock and the gap in certain things will be extremely evident. If you find good people and if you like minding your own business, it will be a breeze. But, being brutally honest, some negatives outweigh the positives. But at the end, it's what you make of the situation. I saw a comment below that said it's the karnataka of Northeast and I couldn't agree more. If you want to get the feel of visiting a foreign country within India, please come to Mizoram 😂
Tiapong welcome to mizoram. Everything in mizoram is costly sply comparing to dimapur. But another funny thing is, bargaining is not so common here (unlike nagaland) so don't bargain too much here. We just pay as they ask. And pls go to millennium centre area. That's the main market attraction.

Its highly developed, ppl have high standard lifestyle, everything available in the market, in fact better in designs and quality, and the ppl are extremely generous and friendly. Mizoram will be the hardest state in communicating with the people among in northeast state and the people is not that much polite coz they dont know how to treat foreigner and communication problem the main reason majority ccant speak english thats why they dont talk to tourist 😊
I agree with u about the communication u had mentioned , here in mizoram many people cannot accept other language to having communication each other .so if u are mizo and if u speak in other language With your friends or family they will use u as a joke Thats the reason we are bad in English or Hindi , to be honest if u are mizo, born and grew up in mizoram u will get the same problem like us😁😂
Keep in mind that your tribe has so many micro subsets that by obligation, you have to succumb to linguistic and cultural assimilation by larger communities. Whereas for the Mizo people, the community is large enough to speak the same language even across interstate and international borders. Also, we are bordered left and right by 2 different countries. Your standard linguistic norms of being fluent in both Hindi and English don’t apply here. Can't wait to go to Naga Bazaar and chat with random vendors, wait some RU-vidr has already done that and he couldn't communicate with 100% of the people, well 99% if you count the man who keeps blabbering to the RU-vidr in a language he didn't understand, so my plan failed. My advice is to reflect on your surroundings first only then you can judge. OK?
I've a theory why Mizoram feels so different & why it's a culture shock 2 even north-easterners from neighboring tribal hill states let alone other Indians. Mizoram is furthest & most isolated from mainland India (chicken's neck) hence had least interaction/influence from rest of India whether during British times or in recent era. In comparison, Mizos being part of larger Zo tribe, most of whom live in Myanmar, had more interaction with their fellow tribespeople from across d border than other tribes of NE India. Also being mostly a homogenous state helped it retain it's unique/distict characteristics w/o internal conflict as opposed 2 other NE states that're so ethnically diverse. Plus I can't help but notice huge Korean/Japanese cultural influences, both good & bad...highly disciplined, great traffic antiquates, hardworking, verbal communication issues 4 tourists, high prices of vegetables which're mostly sold pre-packaged or in larger volume! The good vastly outweighs d bad though...stunning unspoiled nature, friendly people, great food & a beautiful capital city. Mizoram is definitely in my bucket list 🤞
When i use take coaching in imphal there were mizo boys and they use to ask questions to teacher in mizo as if like the teacher will understand. Even WhatsApp texts they use to send text in mizo dialect like anyone would understand. No offense but mizo people need to understand that the world doesn't revolve around them . How can most youths that go to school not understand English or speak basic English Mizoram govn catch up !!!! But their dressing sense is kinda good 😊 but knowledge wise little too backward.
They prolly sent insults or said smth insulting, or maybe they didn't but as a mizo I know well what the others say behind ppls back or even to their faces in our language, I agree with you, we are very arrogant, I feel rlly bad for that

I had stayed in Aizwal for 3 yrs ...mizos are too community focused...they hardly speak hindi or English.... Everything in mizo language...they are very good and kind people but a little bit of backward with thr behaviour and thinking..
I am Naga and i can tell you that they did what everyone in NorthEast wants.....preserving our own unique identities without getting influenced by other larger communities and losing our identities ❤Mizoram from Nagaland

And what u had mentioned about the admin yeah definitely u are right at least if they are blogger or vlogger they should have a research regarding the character of people and how they sell food anyway I feel that your point ..

Such attitude...but in other scenario... Non tribal peoples are.. Talk so sweetly and sugar coating nicely... That why.. Maximum business opportunity capture by non tribal..People in northeast... Some years back I had a Mizo gf, the women are pretty but Mizo food sucks lmfao. Had to show her what good food was like so I cooked smoked pork with akhuni and kohlar for her and she became became addicted to naga food haha
the concept of mizo cuisine is that you can taste the natural flavour of pork, chicken etc. Its either you love it or hate it if you havnt eaten mizo food before, as a mizo growing up with mizo cuisine, i personally like mizo portk and naga pork as much as the other, but i don't think any naga would like mizo pork as much as they like naga pork

Lmao they're stuck up people. Even outside NE, they only tend to stick amongst other mizos. My friend went there in 2016 as a computer teacher for a coaching centre. He said that the students there didn't speak a lick of English or Hindi. They think everyone should learn their language. That was a long time ago so I hope things have changed.
I don't know why you make such assumptions based on a friends' experience, you should come to Mizoram and explore and see for yourself, we do speak English and Hindi, pretty well too, just bcoz someone had a bad expi doesn't mean you can claim Mizo people are like that

You can ask any Non-Mizo people and Most would agree to this that Mizo people outside Mizoram only tend to only stick with their own community and interact less with other communities. Even more bizarre that in a class whatsapp group the Mizo’s consisting of only 4-5 people out of the 40 people would text each other in mizo like the majority would understand it. But anyways Mizo people are cute 😍

The first of the 10 commandment in Mizoram is thou shall learn mizo langauge 😂😂😂lol.... Yea we don't give much sh*t to other langauge.... But the good thing is that traders and workers from across the states have to learn and speak our langauge which is very good for our local langauge preservation......

true we dont understand hindi at all, but most people speak english. but since he is talking to street vendors taxi driver, these people are mostly not very highly educated and struggle to speak even in basic english, but go to offices, schools, concerts, most people there will speak english
