Is/can pure oxygten via a mask be used in a soft chamber filled with air at 1.3 to 1.5 atmosphere pressure ?
@hyperbaric
@hyperbaric 6 месяцев назад
Yes, in soft chambers oxygen is delivered via mask. Most often oxygen concentrators are used for that

Hello ☺️ Thank you for explaining soft vs hard HBOT so well - I understand it better now! For a person with intermittent recurrent cellulitis (due to ideopathic lymphoedema) - would hard or soft be better?
@hyperbaric
@hyperbaric 11 месяцев назад
I always recommend consulting with a hyperbaric physician, who will help you determine the right hyperbaric protocol for you. This protocol will focus on the pressure that you need, and oxygen concentration. Based on that you can determine which chamber is suitable for you. You can setup a consultation with us by emailing info@drmasha.com.

Under no circumstances should you use a soft chamber

Under no circumstances should anyone use a soft chamber ,unless one has the only condition the FDA has approved for which is altitude sickness.

@@hyperbaric my understanding is that those are automatically generated, so no big deal 🙂While we are at it, may I ask you if you had long covid patients that were using blood-thinners at the same time (as Gez Medinger says in his interview, it may well boost up the benefits)? Also I'm confused about what ATA means: 2.5 ATA means that the effective pressure in the chamber is 1.5 ATM and you have to add the 1ATM of the earth pressure in order to compute the correct ATA value, or is the effective pressure of the chamber (2.5ATM= 2.5 ATA)?? thank you in advance and keep up the good work!

I am a Diver Medical Technician and Certified Hyperbaric Technician for over 16 years and work in a University Hyperbaric Medical Facility. As well I am on the Board of Directors of the National Board of Diver and Hyperbaric Medical Technicians. Under no circumstances should anyone use soft chambers. Basically they are lying about the benefits and the risks as well violating NFPA, ASME and FDA guidelines. Soft chambers are illegal in Canada and in a few states in the US. The conditions that we treat in legitimate hyperbaric facilities are proven by controlled studies and empirical data. It is only a matter of time before the soft chambers are banned across the US and hopefully before any more catastrophic accidents occur.

Thank you for your comment. This is what we know as of today: the benefits of the HBOT are due to pressure that is used, and not to the material the chamber is made of. Some studies were in fact done using soft chambers. We need is more studies that will clearly show the difference between different pressures. Another area of research is using the same pressure but different chambers and comparing the results. This would be very interesting to see.

@@hyperbaric Yes and the pressure used is based on empirical data. My concern is that A. It only takes 3 fsw to embolize and people are using these in their house with no supervision/ training. ( There was a fatality in Idaho recently). Also the FDA only approved Soft Chambers for treatment of altitude sickness. Yet facilities are claiming they are FDA approved. They are also dumping huge money in attempts to get the FDA, NFPA and ASME to relax their standards. Claiming that they are only using air , yet every website I have seen says their bags are equipped to connect oxygen concentrators. 1.3 ATA is still just enough pressure to cause many of the same concerns as proper hyperbaric chambers with no oversite. These facilities are making claims about their healing capabilities that are far fetched or just entirely untrue. They are to coin an analogy " peddling snake oil". And patients will pay the price when they think they're getting a miracle cure and will forego proven treatment modalities out of fear of side effects/ complications.

@hyperbaric 11 месяцев назад
@@user-dy2rj4wg3p As with any medicine, there should be standards of care in place, that should include clearance for treatment. The role of Hyperbaric physician/technician/etc. is very important in the whole process. Thanks for bringing it up
@user-dy2rj4wg3p
@user-dy2rj4wg3p 10 месяцев назад
@@hyperbaric The pressure utilized is established by empirical use . However the big problem wiith soft chambers is that they are not approved by the NFPA or the FDA (which only approved soft chambers for altitude sickness ) The IHA's own argument stipulates that they are not being used with 02, which virtually every soft chamber spa out there is advertising the use of increased P02. As per a spokesperson for ASME they have not been fire tested. I have no issue with facilities treating off label illnesses provided that there is a Physician and qualified staff present , and they are using proper hyperbaric chamber. The soft chamber industry at best is serving people with more money than sense and at worst are giving false hope to people who are foregoing proven treatment modalities based on lies.

@@user-dy2rj4wg3p thank you for taking part in the discussion. It is ok to disagree, i difference is evil on the other hand. several centuries ago people thought that the Earth was flat. More so, they burnt those who said that it was round. Hyperbaric industry is changing and evolving. Soft chambers provide pressurized environment which is responsible for may benefits of Hyperbaric therapy.
