Thanks a lot Cam! Been watching your videos for a little over a year now, so it's cool to see you've found one of mine. You've been a big help without even know it. Keep up the killer work 🤘🏻
both of you guys make awesome videos man. seriously has been a huge amount of help for me. keep them coming! I have a brand and I'm screen printing my own shirts. I watch you guys videos daily on repeat to take in all the information.
"Big props to all the self taught screen printers" We started 2 years ago. Still learning to this day but we have been sharpening our skills in the screen printing industry. Thanks Lee, your videos have inspired me on my toughest days when learning screen printing. I've been a fan for about a year and decided to watch your journey from the beginning. Thanks. Greetings from Houston, Texas.
Love the honesty from this guy ... Something like that this days it’s priceless... Gods job.Super hard-worker ,smart, and honest. I’ll be back for more grate videos
Just inherited/ took over a screen printing shop from my homie who passed in January. I’ve been getting hella frustrated self teaching myself the ins and outs but after subscribing and watching your vids I’m back pumped to keep trying to get it and not give up and keep his 15yr screen printing legacy going. So big thanks to you bro for that motivation. Wishing you continuous growth and success 🙏🏾
Keeping it going is a cool thing of you to do 🙌🏻. Definitely don't give up, it takes a lot of trial and error before things start working out...I'm still running into things daily. But once you get the basics it's a much easier time
Have been printing for 25 plus years and all the mistakes you had happened to me! great job at keeping at it! Great feeling when you see an awesome print!
It's tough starting your own company and venturing out. Much respect my friend for putting yourself out there and sharing. Keep it up man, rooting for your success and thank you for the inspiration!
I've been following this channel for maybe 6 months. I'm coming back to these old videos because yesterday I ordered a RH 150. Starting small because I'm in a 1 bedroom apartment. But I'm still pooping myself. Lord knows the last thing I need in my life is more humility. Also...90's melodic death metal for life.
Love watching your videos and the fact you don’t sugar coat shit and show the trials and errors of screen printing! Now that’s keeping it real! Great job.
been following now for several weeks and I can say you def have the best screenprinting content on RU-vid!!... and then I find out you just started this January!!!!. Damn man that's some ballsy shit!. I print in S.C. and have been thinking about going out on my own.. I have a goal to do vintage/retro style artwork on a smaller scale than the large production/low quality printing I am currently doing..You and your companies are an inspiration to work harder toward my goal! Keep up the good work !! We love seeing the progress you've made this year!!
Thanks man, glad to hear that! I've been putting in serious work to get good at this stuff in the short amount of time I've been doing 🤘🏻. Hope you pull the trigger on it yourself
@Lee you are doing a phenomenally good job man. Loving your videos so far. I started working in the fashion industry in about 2003 at a screen printing company and have few pointers you might wanna try. Apologies if you resolved these issues and mentioned them in later videos. 1. when creating your separation artwork, wherever possible put a 0.5 point outline on your designs. Then when it comes to your base white, make sure it has no outline. when you start laying colours on top of your base white they should match up perfectly and will give you way less registration issues. 2. when you create your registration marks, make the lines thinner, a 0.5 or 0.25 point. it makes lining up your registration between colours a whole lot more accurate and easier. 3. use clear tape over your registration marks on the screen when you start printing colours. easy to wipe away ink when lining up colours if you need to make micro adjustments to your registration. Keep up your awesome work man.
Diazo emulsions are the cheapest screen printing emulsion option. SBQ-based emulsions come in one pot with no mixing required. They cure extremely quickly - within seconds - when exposed to UV light. The more delicate bonds created by SBQ-based emulsions make the emulsions a good choice for detailed work
Lee you are an inspiration!!, because of what you are taking on at this day and age when so many just want everything cheap don’t give a flying fuck. You make a lot of us look at things in life in a better way. So much respect and love for my brother in the great white north... look forward to some day buying you a beer while wearing your awesome apparel 😉🍺🍺🍺cheers mate.
Patience, test, check, measures, test check, measure.......... I did this 5 times before drilling my rear wheel rotor when I realised I had it upside down. Another rotor in post 😬 love your attention to detail, your video work in the past shows this and now your applying it to screen printing. Well done that man! Your not gonna want to hear this but if you can’t get 10/10 and make money a 9 might have to do. I am pretty sure your nine will be better than any other service you had. I started a successful business 19 years ago with hardly a penny to my name....... hard work and patience does pay off!
REALLY LOVE HOW HONEST YOU ARE WITH YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE AND I REALLY LOVE THE SHOP SET UP.I'M PLANNING TO SETUP A SCREEN BUSINESS BUT I THINK I WILL HAVE TO START WITH SMACK DOWN PALLETS BEFORE I BUILD A LINE TABLE.I'M IN KENYA AND BUYING A ROTARY PRESS IS WAY OFF MY BUGDET.ALL THE BEST AND AS WE CONTINUE ALONG THIS JOURNEY.STAY BLESSED.
About the screen room safe light, Don't worry about it too much. You can light the room with 40W regular incandescent light, and it wouldn't hurt the unexposed screens a bit.
I am currently on your step 2 video in my learning process. I have greatly enjoyed watching someone else go through the same struggles! I also came into this well read but with no experience thinking it was going to be easy. Oh how I was wrong! We actually purchased the same exact kit that you are using so it's been nice seeing someone use the same equipment. Today was a frustrating day with exposure but watching these got me stoked about trying again tomorrow!
Dark room stuff is working great now. Added another point to the choke of my underbase so registration was a breeze this time. I'm literally living your first experience! So many highs and lows but my first customer order will be going out the door tomorrow looking perfect
A fellow Canadian here, great job on the videos! Registration is a crazy animal. What works for me is... Print a paper or positive of your art then glue it to the pallet. Align all your screens to this instead of your base layer. Stencil drag (movement) screws with you every time.
Thanks man. It's definitely a bit of an art to master, but I'm figuring out little tricks to make it easier as I go. I've started registering to my positive now and it's definitely a bit easier
I run a manual press also (Hix 6x6 with over 100k prints so far!), if you are having registration problems try pre-flashing your shirts...i.e. Flash-Print-Flash-Print. I almost always have to do that with sweatshirts, but not so much with t-shirts any more. Automatic presses have the advantage for multi colors, squeege pressure can remain constant where manual presses depends so much on the operator. Wait till you get into the 400-500 shirt orders, your squeege pressure will vary greatly over the job!!! Good luck.
Loving the green color. And your hard work and set up man. Damn!! So great to see you putting in the work and learning the right ways. Right in brother!!!
It's a Love, Hate relationship with screen printing. Everyone can screen print, but not everyone can solve the problems that arise. Keep up the Great work.
Sweet!!! Dude that looks so frustrating in the beginning. It’s just like anything though. Practice makes perfect! Shirts look Effin sick man! Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks dude. I can definitely say this is one of the most frustrating things I've ever learned, and I'm sure I'll run into more of that as I start making more difficult stuff. But it's all going to be on here when it happens, good or bad haha
Hi there, good job! So if you dont want to waste t-shirt i learn this from old school screen printer. Place a white printing paper and screen print on the paper. If it looks perfect on the paper its gonna look perfect on the shirt.
awesome work man, i've been following your journey so far and it is looking pretty damn good. i'm definitely pumped on the shirts, can't wait to cop one. if i didn't avoid social media like the plague then i'd follow you to try to win one.
Thanks man. These ones probably won't ever be sold unless I set up a little store on the site when it launches. My Thirty Eight Ride Co. brand on the other hand has all kinds of cool shirts, and now I'll be making way more 🤘🏻
I appreciate your video, keep em coming. A little suggestion, cover your platin with paper and tape it underneath. This way you won't get any paint on it, should some paint bleed through the garment.
i heatpress all my shirts. my current set up doesn't include a dryer so it's a good way to get product out and offer something big shops don't really do. it takes longer, but personally i like the finish better. you can also test different wax papers or parchment papers to give it a different finish
To be honest I’ve never even thought about how this is done. These last three videos have been super interesting! Looks sooooo finicky!!! But well done I would of exploded by now lol big investment.
Haha there have been a few times I really questioned my decisions here, but now it's all starting to come together and it's really fun. Glad you like it man 🤘🏻
Hey bro!!! Just want to say awesome vlogs the way you edit your vids and background music on point. 100% Keep up the great work and keep it up with moving forward on your business.
That really sucks man I don’t have Twitter. Shit looks great brother I’m patiently waiting. Can’t wait to see that classic 38 on a hoodie after you tweak it to perfection.
That's what I've been seeing on some of them. The extra glue tack definitely helps solve that, but for safe measure I've been running the sensitive stuff through the dryer first to pre shrink them. Definitely a good call to do on hoodies
@@leestuart38 When you load the shirts or hoodies on to the shirt boards, just swing each board under the flash for 5-10 sec so that if any shrinking does happen it's on the board. No need to put the blanks through the dryer.
