"If I hadn't heard the record I would think he's just making this up" so bloody true, as an uneducated/lowXP/shit drummer it sounded like some random rythm
One time I saw Danny Carey standing like 3 meters away from me outside a local New Zealand music venue. I thought “wow he looks familiar” then walked away. I’m so stupid.
I’m gonna keep plugging him for a reaction because he just blows my mind. Francesco Paoli-the violation. Home boy was playing guitar and couldn’t get a drummer that played the songs how he wanted, so he learned how to play drums and in 2 years recorded the album agony
Funny you mention Slipknot. You know Tool’s label wanted them to sound like Slipknot, to they wrote Ticks and Leaches in that style telling them to “Suck it”...
I love Danny Carey and Tool, but when i heard that Fear Inoculum was ready like 2 years after their last album, I was so upset at first, because I wanted a new Tool sound after 13 years. But then it started to make sense why it sounded like old Tool. I hate that they were scrapping with their record label for that long. Glad they finally got through it.
He's playing a swiss triplet sticking in that one section, so that's flammed right, right, left. So the second left is at the same time as the first right
Ive seen tool four times. Twice at td garden in Boston and I was at this show. As a drummer myself and a fan of the band, it was a really spot on show.
17:45 AMAZING how good was it when he went 14/5 on the tom hat in sequence with the 4/4 guitar and Maynards 6/9 arpeggios????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUSIC!@@!!?!?!
The part you were stumped on was an inverted double I think. Might be wrong myself hah!! Sounds like it though. the doubles seem continuous between both hands but sound weird as hell. Straight 16ths inverted doubles I reckon.
Not a comprehensive rig rundown, but Vic Firth has a 3 part Artist Spot Light on Danny. Here's the link to 2/3 where he talks a bit about his kit. Enjoy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bb5siEiAYKs.html
Reynolds, you could react to some Aquiles Priester videos. I bet you know, but anyway, he is a brazilian drummer and calls himself a octopus. I'd like to hear your opinion on him. He played on Angra in the early 2000s
Pretty fucking sweet that you got to test that VK. I would have a hard time not injecting that into every conversation ever. Also, Danny is definitely on TrT, haha, glad I'm not the only one who thought that when I first watched this. Dude looks like a fit 30 year old.
People creamed over this video and did all the reacts because there really isn't much footage like this of Danny out there, not in High Def anyway, too bad tool wasn't high on my list of bands to listen to when this album emerged
Danny is a monster! One of the best sounding kits on the planet. But I could not get in to the new Tool album. I have no idea why. I listened to it, in it's entirety, six times. And I just felt meh about it. Curious to know if anyone else felt the same.
I'm with you on Fear Inoculum. I think most of the songs would have been great if they had just edited themselves a bit. Instead of 12 min, do it in 8. There's too much fluff.
The "best" thing about this video is Danny fucking up right after your "angry" comment. No drum reaction video mentions it, but it shows he is actually human. I'd like to see more people react to his old drumcam of Triad. That thing fucking slaps.
