Hi love your videos I’m 41 and looking for my first bike I want one that will suit me for riding on road and canal paths and capable going on trails I was looking at ether the Whyte 905 V4 or the Whyte 529 V4 what would you recommend as it’s a total mine field trying to choose a bike thanks.
Hi Flash 👋. Thanks for your great feedback and for watching 👍. They’re both exceptional trail weapons really, the 905 is definitely aimed more at the DH gravity style riding and the 529/629 are equally happy on DH but much faster so they have more of a trail focused style. Slightly different geometry and component’s too. I’ve found this great link that you can compare them but I’d highly recommend getting some time in the saddle and testing them. Good luck dude 💪😎🤘. 99spokes.com/en-GB/compare?bikes=whyte-529-v4-2022%2Cwhyte-629-v3-2021%2Cwhyte-905-v4-2022
Giant’s are very good bikes and have an awesome pedigree, however, Whyte’s are designed, built and tested by mountain biker’s, for mountain biker’s and they have an excellent customer service system that is unmatched. My 905 developed a cracked chainstay and it was swapped out instantly for a 2022 frame. They even painted it in the 2018 blue for me. An exceptional brand. 💪✊
Y Thanks a lot, we have just created a Facebook group for more mature (discerning ?) riders called Forty Something MTB riders (facebook.com/groups/366327494645119) we would love to create a community of like minded riders, check it out and join, you will be able to say, « I was one of the first 10 members!
Hey Phill, another great vid ... I was going to say what an artsy beginning and then you put another artsy bit in .... keep up the good work mate 🤙🏼🤜🏼🤛🏼
Cheers for watching buddy 👍. I’m 48 and the 905 has given me soooo much! It’s the most capable bike I’ve ever had, it takes everything I throw at it and always wants more! I absolutely love the 27.5+ sized tyres for the immense amount of grip and smooth, sure footed and positive ride, it’s quite simply awesome. Your gonna love it✊. Good luck and let me know when you get it. Plus, why not join our Facebook group of like minded nutters: facebook.com/groups/fsmtbriders/
First of all, congratulations on your beautiful bouncy 905 arrival, your world is going to be so different now✊. Secondly, with regards to mudguards, I currently use a Crudguard fitted to the down tube and a basic fork guard like this: www.uberbikecomponents.com/category/523/Front-Fender-Mudguards They do an excellent job and are cheap! Alternatively, my next purchase will be either the RRP Proguard or the Mudhugger FRX. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching. Stay safe and shred well 🤘🤙
Thanks so much ✊. When I shoot a vid I generally go to the venue knowing that I’ll be doing multiple takes of each section, so I don’t treat it as a full on shredding session, they’re usually done several times before my videos so I know the trails as best as possible 😜🤟
@@freeatlast1810 well, I reckon you’ve hit the nail right on the head 🔨. Have an absolute blast fella ✊. Oh, you might be interested in our (myself and @40somthingrider) FB group: facebook.com/groups/fsmtbriders/
Hey guys cool vid! You might be able to point me right.. I cycle this area as I live close and was looking at getting a whyte 529/629 29'er as I need to use it for a little commute too. Would it still handle these trails.. I'm a novice off road, but have sold the road bike so was hoping the whyte could replace it as x country fitness/trail/commute all rounder!? Cheers!!
Thanks for your message and your feedback we had such a great time filming it, more to come in 2021✊. With regards to your question, both the 529 & 629 get Whyte’s award-winning Trail Geometry, with shorter and wider-set chain-stays, Boost width axles front and rear to give strength, rigidity and a really planted and sure footed feel to fast trail riding. The 529 gets a dropper post and Shimano’s new 11 speed Deore drivetrain. The 629 gets a new 35mm fork and 12 speed Deore drivetrain and dropper post. I absolutely believe that either will give you exactly the bike you’re looking for and it will be the perfect machine for progression, it all depends on how deep you pocket is and the aesthetics. The only thing I’d consider changing are the tyres, but that’s a very easy thing to rectify. Best of luck and let me know how you get on. Stay safe and shred well ✊🤘
Brilliant video Phill and such nice memories! cannot stop laughing looking at the footage. Cannot wait to do this all over again. This is going to be a long, very long Lockdown!
I agree, we’ll just have to plan lots of “post lockdown trail meetings” to conduct highly technical and effective skills sessions and a shed load of laughter and trail shredding 🤪🤘🎥
Not sure on who has stock of the 905 V3 but you could try my LBS = Quench cycles in Bedgebury forest (Kent). Alternatively, contact Whyte directly as they may be able to find you available bikes. Good luck ✊
