In the summer of 2022, my friends and I set out to conquer one of the most difficult overland routes in North America, The Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail. In total, it took us 9 days off-road, we crossed 3 deep rivers, we ran out of fuel twice, and came dangerously close to rolling our trucks on a sketchy section of the trail that is almost impassible. This is the full movie edit of our adventure.

I lived in that area. My family had grazing rights through that area in the late 60s to 80s... that "Tractor" is actually a horse-drawn harvest/mower. One of four we had. My dad had a worker (named Duncan) mowing, and the thing sank up to its axel in mud... so he left it there... Congrats, guys, you found Duncan's Field! 31:57.

Please take this is in a spirit of a much older man whos lived hard twice as long as you good men have lived. I was a forester and firefighter in the early 80s and before that a lumber jack in North Central Washington. One bit of hard nosed serious advice. WEAR A SHIELD AND HARD HAT CUTTING DEADFALLS! Besides my own stupid experience getting a cornea punctured the number is uncountable how many branch lacerations and torn up faces,.blind eyes. And we had chopper airlift. Just what was your plan out there? Please folks, my pain and disability is your wisdom. Great video, great guys, and Toyota ruled the way. God bless you guys for making great videos.
@skendler
@skendler 4 месяца назад
I agree with you 100%. While I loved the movie, I was shocked that guys weren’t wearing any eye protection when using saws. With no extra drivers, even a corneal abrasion stops the whole trip for a couple days. Just seemed like a simple thing could really strain a super awesome trip. Nonetheless thanks for sharing a great adventure with us!

Fun tip, you can use 2 ratchet straps to compress your suspension on the high side of the trail to keep your top heavy rig more level in those bad off camber situations. Attach one end to the frame, go under your axle, (wrapping the axle once or twice helps prevent the strap sliding around) and then hook it back to the frame again. Then you just crank it on down.

When I first saw his rig with the homemade snorkel. My first thought was, "This is the dude that's going to be the MacGyver of the trip and be able to guide and fix anything." I could definitely relate to him saying he was beat at the end. Old leaf spring vehicles are brutal on the bumpy trails, when you're trying to keep up with the more modern 4-link rigs.

@@The_Samsquantch I don't think they would have completed the trail without him. They relied on his knowledge and skills heavily throughout the trip. If not for him (or someone else equally fit, which is a high bar), at some point they undoubtedly would have decided to turn back and/or gotten stuck or hurt. Braun seems like a prickly fella but that's the kind of guy you need to do something like this.

Hey there, this video was truly amazing! I just wanted to highlight Braun's unique character-his signature cigar while fearlessly tackling a tree with his loyal dog by his side. He'd be the perfect protagonist in a zombie movie. It's truly remarkable to witness someone who just takes action. Thanks once again for sharing this incredible experience with us!

I'm sure someone has already said this, that was an old mower that could be pulled behind horses or a tractor. I used one to cut the grass out of ditches when I lived in Nebraska. You all are so blessed to be able to do this, I imagine like me there are many who live this thru your videos. Keep on keepin on

Someone commented that his family actually had grazing rights to that area from the 60's to the 80's, and that it was a horse drawn mower that one of his father's workers got stuck in the mud up to the axle, and it got left there. Insane the level of connection you find on the internet.

I always find it interesting seeing American off-road vids, being from Australia. Almost every 4x4 I see in my country has a snorkel. It's commonly a factory option on Toyotas etc. A lot more confidence when encountering a river crossing.

I have never been on a trip like this so for me it’s all new and interesting. The running out of gas possibility is scary! RIP Ernie. That was some of the most potent nightmare fuel on that edge road. 😱🫣 So glad I watched the whole thing. What an amazing trip. So happy you all made it out in one piece.

Really great content and cinematography skills!! I also LOVE how you are not extra dramatic about anything. A lot of creators over dramatize everything to make it seem entertaining, but you don't need to. So, thank you for a great video! Really makes me feel like I just watched a good movie. agreed. Trust wasn't the problem. It was exhaustion, and extremely stressful situation. I wasn't listening due to just being completely out of it. not on purpose. I trust Braun and Shaun. They know that. That's why they didn't leave me there 😂But ya, having a pregnant wife at home, being in the vehicle for when the soft shackle let go, and being in there for when the tree fell, i was stressed right out. They said if anything happens the helicopter is 2 hours away from reaching us. They calmed me down and we got through it. That was the easy part too. The hard part right after wasn't so bad lol
