Building on the success of my previous video on removing Quasar Thrusters in HARDSPACE:SHIPBREAKER, I decided to make another training video. This one shows Shipbreakers how to remove a Class II Reactor from a Gecko-class ship. Happy Salvaging!

These are great, i watched both training videos and now i can stop avoiding Atlas ships like the plague. Amazing work man, don't give up on these

I love the video but I have two things to say: First, there are better ways to remove those reactors, like usually you can destroy an almost completely worthless tiny section of pipe connected to one of the reactor plate things to keep more money. Also the fuel pipes can be completely removed before disconnecting the coolant and triggering the meltdown. Also along those lines you can remove those outer panels on the reactor without causing a meltdown. Basically, I would recommend removing as much as possible and having a planned method and route for removing the reactor before disconnecting the coolant. Doing these things usually allows me to remove a class II reactor while losing maybe 2 ticks from meltdown countdown thing. Second is this: class II reactors are fine until you have to scrap a gecko salvage runner. those things are a nightmare because if you have to decompress the cargo hold without a regulator then the coolant pipe will almost always be damaged or completely destroyed so if you know any tricks with them I would love to hear them. Amazing video though! these tutorials seem amazing for new players and even old ones.

Thank you very much for the feedback! You raise some good points, here. The matter of the fuel pipe is valid. It's true that removing the outer reactor panels doesn't threaten stability. Keeping the reactor closed until the end is my personal safety preference. I'm glad that you like the video in general, as I have more like this pending release. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!

You are the employee that after all the new associates watch the training video is like "the video says to do it this way, but around he were just do..." . OSHA hates you, but you get associate of the month and everyone doesn't comment about your workflow.

Loving the new uploads! Still spreading the word as much as I can. It takes time but you'll get there, I do not doubt it. Probably want to get a discord setup if you're leaning into making this work. I'm, unfortunately, laid off at the moment, so lots of free time on my hands. If you want some help on that I'm more then happy to assist!

Thank you for the kind compliment! I may not have the time to support a Discord channel, but I appreciate your efforts to spread the word about this channel. I also hope that you return to work soon. Stay tuned!

Cutting the pipes isn't required and sometimes isn't needed at all. My preferred method: Remove outer hull Remove ECU coolant Remove at least 3 of the reactor sheilds. Sometimes you need to remove them all and take off the top plate if there are walls on all 4 sides of the reactor Eject the thrusters. I do this lasf as they are usually closer to the reactor and they are never inside the living space of the ship. No doors to go through while the reactor is melting down. Remove reactor and yeet into the barge You can often get the coolant pipe and fuel pipe into the processor still attached to the reactor plate without cutting anything except at the ECU.

Any chance of a video of how to get the reactors out of the pesky cages on the gekos? I have no clue where to start other than haphazardly cutting at the struts hoping I don't hit the reactor. love the style of the videos, could add a bit more of a sinister tone to match the uncaring nature of the lynx corporation but the friendly advice kind of makes it feel like old videos weaver made back when he was a cutter

I was lucky enough to find such a ship, and will produce another training video soon. Stay tuned!

I'm happy to report that a second video is now online, demonstrating removal of cage-mounted reactors!

You can remove all the panels and the top cover of the reactor before touching the thrusters and ECU. With the reactor core exposed, you can easily lift it straight up and then send it to the barge. Don't need to cut the pipes either.
