Merry Christmas! Most realistic Enchilada video I have seen. Climbs are not cut out. Especially seeing all the different first attempts and progressions makes it. Easy to become part of the bunch, while watching.

I have to give credit where credit is due. You absolutely killed it on the toughest sections of that trail. I rode it in October and some of those sections require an incredible amount of balance and skill. Clearly you struggled like all of us, but you absolutely earned it by doing some of the toughest sections of the Whole E for us. Some of them I may try next time and others I'll just sit at home and admire the fact that anyone can ride them. That wall on Porcupine Rim near the end is absolutely brutal, and that straight up climb right before Burro Pass is similarly a lung killer (not to mention the freezing cold and I was already wiped by that point due to altitude). Great work on the tougher sections.

Thanks for the kind words Tim. It's great to hear from someone who's been there. It looks so mild on camera, but those obstacles are huge. I'm not sure I'll try to ride them every time I do this trail. The consequence for failure is pretty darn high, with no close help. It's one of my proudest accomplishments on a bike, especially the snotch obstacle.

It’s amazing how efficient a hardtail can be on some technical sections of the trail. I love my Hardtail’s especially my SS. Currently the most travel I have is a 130mm 34Fox but I wanna try a 27.5plus hardtail with 160mm 36Fox.

I've watched this video a few times now and everytime I see your buddy on the green machine (in the last few mins of the video) smash his back rim climbing the rocks, I think, yep, that's busted... Hey guys. Just found your channel. I ride a steel,27.5 Ragley Bluepig (British made). Like yourself, love hardtails and is what I ride most of the time. However, I have just started riding different kinds of terrain and I was wondering what kind of tire pressure you are running on this kind of rocky terrain in this video. I am like yourself, a middle-aged guy, I am around 210lbs most of the time. I run 2.6 on the front and 2.5 on the rear. Any advice on different pressures for different kinds of terrain would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and thanks for the great videos.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
I recommend getting a good tire pressure gauge and experimenting. I change/tweak pressure on almost every ride. I'm usually in the 17-24psi range depending on tiresz rim width, and terrain. If I'm at a pump track or railing berms hard, I'll add more pressure.

I have been experimenting with 2.0 29er tires in moist conditions and I have to say they had a superior ride over my 2.4 . No kicking up sand and dirt and relatively no stick of material to the 2.0 . Another factor with the ground being moist it gives a sponge affect which kind of acts as suspension so I did not notice the lack of cushion with the thinner tire . The other thing with the thinner tire is going through the narrow cracks and crevices on the trail where a wider tire can hit the sides while the thinner tire just cruises through . It adds a different way of riding and fun factor . Its nice to see someone attempting this trail on such thin tires . Actually it may avoid tire slices over the wider tire . I just switched back to my 2.4 and they are slow on the moist trail . I am in a high desert area and I may go thin on winter months and will continue to explore the possibilities .
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
What tire pressures do you run on your 2.4s?
@stevencole7331
@stevencole7331 4 года назад
@@hardtailparty 25 psi front and back . The tires were xc low profile knobs and they were a bit worn down . I think with new tires the experience would even further be improved but I first wanted to see how it goes before I make the investment . It was a little squirrly in the loose corners and fast on the straights . Climbs vastly improved . Now I dont do the chunk that you do on climbs but what i did do was interesting as I alluded to you can squeeze through some of those narrow sections . Changing things up is what adds spice to the experience . That was impressive ride on a hard tail especially the rocky road down . I am in the camp if I ride a full suspension I may not return to my hardatil . I get looks when tackling the more challenging trails and I am not a spring chicken anymore so I will continue until my body says no mas . Great content steve
