Yep. But as a resident of ill-fated Bengal, I can vouch for all of us, we did not deserve him. Mamata and Corruption is our fate and there is no way out.
I'm a right wing person, but traditional dhoti kurta and opinion on industrialisation of great buddho babu impressed me a lot. Only left leader with supporters from across party line.
Mr.Buddhadev bhattacharya is the most EDUCATED , CULTURED CM OF WEST BENGAL. HE is honest and decent person in politics. he is the most respected cm in the annal of west bengal politics !

Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was a visionary. It was his own party members and allies who brought him down as he began to restructure the party from within. Today, unfortunately, all that one remembers about Bhattacharya is the criticism over the Singur Nandigram issue. Everyone has forgotten the vision he had that is beautifully reflected in this interview.
The only issue was that he had no support from his party. He had a Deng Xiaoping model to develop Bengal...but Hardcore commies prevailed over his vast wisdom.
@@rajasekarsrinivasan2391 no, he was opposed by the other left front parties... His own party members supported him till his death... But the leaders of other left front parties such as cpiml, suci etc supported Mamata for singur and nandigram protest...
Manmohan Singh was not bad at all being a PM. But the only black spot was that he couldn't take any decision independently. He had to be a remote control of Gandhis.
@@souhardyachakraborty9879 Hahah r u crazy? that man was single sole responsible for atrocities around the bengal. Tbh!! He is just a saheb straight outta london. And eventually became Butcher of Bengal
Buddha babu was one of the cleanest , most transparent politicians who candidly accepted his party’s faults in not being able to industrialize Bengal. But at the same time , after 2006 , he created a very positive environment for investments with big ticket automobile(Tata in Singur), cement (Jindal in Salboni) and chemical ( Saalim group Nandigram) industries deciding to pour investments. Besides he consistently expanded the IT and electronics hub of Kolkata , Salt Lake sector 5. His Infosys SEZ would’ve been a game changer in all respects, and Kolkata could have been above Gurgaon and Noida in IT and electronics if it succeded.Besides, he also dreamt of Tajpur port and Kolkata Siliguri expressway. Along with this
You are a great person sir and a great leader ,you are the only person who thought for the young generation and for their jobs .thank you sir for valueble contribution towards WB industrialization. Laal selam sir
16:20 what an answer and then the satisfaction..this man had a different aura..you will alwys remain my chief minister no matter who comes and goes..Rest in peace comrade..
He was a Visionary a 2:06 dreamer……….whose dream was to make Bengal great again………..The dream died a decade back and now the dreamer is also gone…………..No hope left
Looking at video interview of our former CM Mr. Budhhadeb Bhattacharya, he was a visionary which no one in our state accepted it. From 1977-2000 the economical damage which was created by his former colleague Jyoti Basu, he tried to recover it. West Bengal had all the resources to become leading IT Hub of India, but the negative minded people of West Bengal destroyed their own state and now the worst state in India to survive in. Honestly, West Bengal didn't deserve a CM like Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. 😊
His vision of restructuring industry sector in wb is very appreciative, now you can see the current scenario of wb under tmc gov we just loosing everything in every sector whether it's industry or in education or health...tmc may hate communist but should accept these men vision for betterment of our beloved state.
He is not at all hesitating to accept the mistakes even after winning for the 6th time. Now look at today's scenario, we have a CM who never ever accepted any criticism.
What an excellent human being. He single handedly pulled bengal out of that lagging, a has-been, devoid of development to IT sector, Industries, roadways, etc. all this in 8-9 years, zero to a state of considerable development. he is not only a great human being, he is a great visionary. But as a leader he lacked the hard hitting attitude, the will to strike down any stupid agitation .. because of his good nature which prevented him from doing such hard handed nasty politics. This was the reason of his fall. He should have been the CM of bengal for minimum 25 years, bengal would have been the no.1 state in india
he was always missunderstood because of the oppertunist corrupted personals in then CPIM( the funny thing is they are now in better place ,the better place is the parties which are better for corruption ). And let me point how friendly and humble his attitude was ,he is facing " DEVIL'S ADVOCATE" like an ANGEL .Such a peaceful environment ,which is rare in Thapar interviews ,many expert politians lost their cool and was intimated by Thapar . RED SALUTE COMRADE. REST IN PEACE LEGEND .
Kudos to the interviewer to keep throwing tough questions and kudos to the interviewee for answering them politely without beating around the corner and putting allegations on someone else for their shortcomings.
He was atleast 3 decades advanced than the time....his vision was very practical He was the one who started respecting Netaji Subhashchandra bose, unlike other left leaders The only communist leader whome I respect the most
This kinda interview is just impossible today. Where can we get journalist like Karan Thapar who is so well researched and asking the CM questions about his policies? Today everything we can see is just asking about the vote banks, conspiracies of opponent parties, communalism . Bring back the Glory days.
Uneducated 1000 rupee dole and freebie dependent worshippers of Maa Mamata would like to opine otherwise... They're happy and they have the numbers over the handful few of us watching this video shedding tears...
After watching this interview, I have to admit that at least as a chief minister of the state he had figured out the problems correctly and was admitting their faults which is good, but we shouldn't forget that these are the primary level homework. We need to see if there was a major change in every aspects which he was talking about! No. So, there must be some problems... And I don't know if some compares this with our current situation in Bengal, I have no words for it. Lot of people are realising the problems like Buddha babu but just like him we have to engage ourselves in constructive criticism and feedback to the current situation and must come with a solution to our problems not just the list of our problems!
Here's a scholarly gentleman, who once happened to be a Bengali teacher and went on to become (perhaps) the best Chief Minister of the state of West Bengal, is giving an interview in flawless English. This was the level of West Bengal once upon a time, until a large section of Bengalis decided to hit anvil on their toes. And here we are now... 🙂
I didn't know about politics properly, when I had watched that interview, what buddhya sir was said it was the truth.... At 23 everyone could felt.... The ground thing..
The utter embarassment is visible. What Karan can really judge is that Bengal was still a laggard in those time when I can still sense is that it's still the same, the culture, competition, human labour & bribe but still Buddhadeb was hell better than Basu in terms of modern tech automations, engineering and other socialist ideologies...
Its hard to see politician accepting mistakes these day! Comrade Buddha had a great vision for Calcutta and WB. He encouraged socialism in private sectors. This policy was not accepted by certain comrades in field as they were not ready to accept the change. These new policies and ideological changes emerged as an advantage for TMC to defeat the left front. Change is only permanent! Marxism also changes with time but ensures rights to workers. Lal salam ☭
The path taken by Bhattacharya was the path of experimentation with private capital in state that had a political and social hegemony of the communist party. It was a unique case, where at every step the party, the allies and the mass organisations and the greater masses were involved in a process of negotiation and compromise. It was successful till Bhattacharya had Biswas as the party chief till 2006. After that there was no one left to back him.

There was a time, when chief ministers accepted their mistakes and talked about the policies to make people's lives better, when more attention was given to the quality of education, jobs, lives of people. We are certainly living in dark times now, current WB CM and Indian PM do not possess any accountability and responsibility. Politics has been reduced to a dirty blame game. People chose this! So shall they suffer.
All though I hate CPIM.. but I have great respect for this person. This person could have done much good work as leader but his own people has back stabbed him. Sad.
@swarup mitra Bengal didn't lose everything during CPI(M), food and job security was at it's maximum, only people suffered loss were the rich industrialists. Yes, THERE WERE a slowdown in development in some aspects but whenever development happened it took place collectively, not just by filling the pockets of the rich
@BobMukhopadhyay, I would like to draw attention about the point where, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharya had been questioned about including "English" as a subject from Class-I(Primary Section) and on reply of this question, he just said "Let us wait". This is the point(Negative Point) would be considered as drawback of " Leftist Government".
When the feathers start to attach one by one with time then the wings start to learn and believe in more heights. Maybe the situation and those decisions made us literals and visionaries to outclass every performance in every direction. Our former Chief Minister was a vital individual to seek a betterment in the working class and the prevailing generation. What China did at that time made liberals living today. 10 out of 74 was a bottleneck for Calcutta roads.😊
What kind of communist is he? Or is he pragmatist and social democrat? But his policies were looking good. Private players would have changed the face of Bengal.
