This is the first winter I covered my musa basjoo as well as orinoco.
The musa basjoo is root hardy so it comes back regardless of what happens to the pseudostem

Your Musa basjoo looks really good! I had a similar issue with my Dwarf Orinoco last year when I tried to overwinter one in the ground. We had a really bad freeze in December 2022, it got down to at least -7°C (19.4°F), perhaps slightly lower which is very cold for here. And it barely went above 0°C (32°F) for 2 weeks. So I got quite unlucky really. I might have got away with it this winter, but I didn't want to risk it so I dug the other one I had up and brought it indoors.

Sounds like the orinoco is a bit too sensitive to cold. I had to plant mine outside because it was getting too big for the house. I feel like it would have flowered with a little more patience but it was back breaking to move it around at the size it got to in the container. With the veinte cohol it might be a little easier to get it to flower and less strain on my back lol

@@raregrowsNJ you might get lucky and it could come back from the corm underground. Mine was smaller than yours and with all the rain and cold had rotted away underground.
