I'm very lucky to have found your excellent video. I just bought a Hario Skerton; I had no idea I had a Hario Skerto PRO. The grinder came with some--very few--instructions. I couldn't imagine what the other Skerton videos were talking about. I decided I should take the mechanism apart so I could follow the video I had chosen. Then...I realized I had a rather different machine. I found you! And now I'm all set. Thanks.

Outstanding video. I'm new to coffee and needed my first grinder to not be too complicated and this video definitely helped me understand the differences between the three. Def getting one of these today based on this video.

I'm thinking about purchasing the pro version, as it seems that you can find the same grinding setting with the click steps?

I bought the plus one. It will be my first experience. If I had watched this video, I would buy the pro one. I hope there are not so many differences between each other. :)

Hi, I've been using my Hario mini to grind my espresso for use in my la pavoni europiccola millennium and been having trouble getting things perfectly right. I.E., amount of coffee, grind, tamp and machine warm up time. Ive seen your video on the la pavoni but still have a hard time dialing in. Can you suggest a grind setting, # clicks, to start with on the Hario? I'm typically running a 14 gram shot and letting the machine warm up for 30 minutes before a pull. One purge through the head group and about 30 seconds of steam release through the wand. If any of this is incorrect please help in the right direction. I have worked well with semi-auto machines in the past so I'm familiar with good shot pulling techniques but this fully manual unit has me a but baffled. I'm staring to think the grinder is the week spot but I'm seeing other videos online with the same grinder having success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dean

The only thing I would want to know is did the Chinese switch to better metal. I had one of the small Hario's and after a while I had a horrible time getting the crank off the spindle to get the beans out.

Great review, does the pro model come with a lid so you can take grinds to go?

According to Amazon, "The bottom glass bowl holds up to 100g of coffee grounds, but if you need more capacity the body of the Skerton will thread directly onto standard Ball jars."

Is the blue horse mod still worth it on the new grinders?

Is the Skerton essentially a better grinder than the Mini Slim Plus? And does the Mini Slim Plus hold enough for a 32oz French Press, coarse grind?

Hey Steve, you forgot the new Hario Mini Mill *Pro* . Any chance it will be available in your site soon? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hey there. The Mini Slim Pro isn't currently available in the US, and was announced after this video was shot. We should have more news on its availability soon, potentially even after the Global Specialty Coffee Expo this week.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently enjoying the Skerton Pro, but may still get the new Mini for office use.

Hi, debating whether to get the Hario Mini Pro. Do either of you have any opinions on them which might help my decision? Thank you!

So the question of the day is does it actually help and do its job? I returned the original Hario Ceramic grinder because of this issue.

Our findings are that the new Plus models are largely similar to their predecessors with slight improvements. The Skerton Plus does have a burr stabilizer, but it is not as snug a fit as we'd like to see, so there is still some burr wobble in the coarse end. It helps some, but if it were a tighter fit on the burr shaft it would be far more useful. The Skerton Pro shows the best performance and a noticeable improvement over the Skerton and Skerton Plus.

Great review. How much does each of these grind in 30 seconds?
@TopGunDogTraining
@TopGunDogTraining 5 лет назад
That would depend on the grind setting. Fine grinding will take longer than course, because you have more work to do.

is the actual burr on the pro the same as that on the plus?

the click sounds sometimes late. is it normal? What are the hario mini slim plus espresso, v60, frenc press, filter machine grinding dimensions? How many clicks are valid for which coffee? thanks Google translate

I just got a Skerton Pro: is there a way to remove the outer burr to clean it, or is this supposed to remain attached to the hopper when cleaning? I also noticed the lower washer is wider on one end than the other: is this wider side the one that faces downward towards the spring, or upwards towards the handle?
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment 6 лет назад
For cleaning, you can simply brush or wipe the burrs to remove debris. If you want to remove the ring burr, you can unscrew the retaining ring and it should come free.

I just got the Pro and was very disappointed that the hopper only holds 45g/1.6oz. When you quoted 60g/2.1oz. you must have forgotten that the plastic lid is concave and doesn't actually let you use all the hopper space.
@primacoffeeequipment
@primacoffeeequipment 4 года назад
Hi Jim, thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear your experience didn't line up with ours. We did measure the capacity with the lid in place, but coffee bean density varies a good bit. We try to aim for a middle ground when reporting on capacity, but if your beans are more dense or less dense than the ones we used, you will probably see a different mass in the hopper. Just as a test, today I measured two coffees we have on hand here at the office, and one came in at just over 60 grams with the lid in place, the other was 57 grams.
