The ultimate setting is the drip assist on top of the V60 switch. Ultimate control, ultimate performance. I found i can just keep my variables the same but just adding a bit of steep at each pour to increase contact time and that's it. Very easy, predictable, repeatable. Thanks Matt. Thanks Pete. Thanks Hario.
Would have liked a glance at Matt's resultant coffee bed.Mine has holes corresponding to the holes in the DripAssist. My final brews of 20 grams, 310 grams out takes 3 minutes on average. His pause times seemed a bit long...perhaps that was for allowing time for instruction. I take about 15 seconds between pours.
Nice video! Matt suggests high flow and agitation for his 5 pours method. But with the drip assist agitation is vastly reduced. Much faster draw down times are expected. He's using the same 93°C water temperature. But I'm wondering if maybe we should compensate somehow... Maybe much higher water temperature? Maybe grinding finer? Maybe using a bit shorter ratio too, say 1:14 or 1:13 along with finer grounds? Will try this recipe with my Hario drip assist and will let you know how it comes.
Water flow from the holes in the outer ring: over the sink, no problem. all holes flowing proper. while pouring over the V60 02, almost half of those holes not flowing. ????? Maybe too much pressure from below? Maybe the paper filter is creating a seal? I'll try to trim the paper filter. UPDATE: it worked. avoid a closed seal around the perimeter btn V60 and Drip Assist.
Please why there no drip assist 01 ? For small amounts of recipes? I hope hario make the 01 drip assist and yeah i love your recipe 4/6 belgong to tetso katsuya right ?
Kindly use an aeropress filter on top of your grounds and this way you can change vertical flow into laminar flow. This way you can avoid channeling for a better extraction. Hope this trick helps!
Unfortunately, the Drip-Assist only works with the Hario 02 sized brewers. I prefer to use an 03 sized brewer to make a larger cup of coffee. I still bought one and will start experimenting.
Excellent, second viewing. I brew for 2, so would I double or timings for a 40 gram coffee, with a final weight of 600 grams? Doing so, I’ve been getting good coffee but a hideous looking coffee bed! How long should the pause between pours be? Thanks much!
