Loved this episode. You and your friend Evan have great energy, you should do more collaborations with Evan as a guide, he is endearing and natural. When Evan hugged Head Chef Sister Robinson, I got choked up because it was reminiscent of how we were raised back in the day, hug Mom and Aunties, show them respect for preparing a wonderful meal.
I'm from N.Y.. now living in the D.R. . I lived 139st between 5th & Lenox. Walked thru Strivers Row almost every day. In the spring and early summer, the trees blossoming makes that street beautiful, and expensive.. 1- million and up for a huge townhouse. One of many beautiful streets in Harlem...N.Y.C.

I'm from Hong Kong and I've been told many years ago that Harlem is dangerous to visit. I can't believe it's this beautiful. Definitely going there and trying those chicken and waffles on my next trip!
I really love jazz and its history, and even though the music was born in New Orleans, New York City has been the capitol of jazz for a century. Harlem especially. It’s absolutely essential to go there.
Harlem is the best place to visit and tour and has a rich history of the people that build it and made it the best African American community in all of NYC and The United States! Love your video!
Thank you for a great tour of the great sites in Harlem! I love visiting there when in NYC. Evan is a wealth of knowledge about Harlem. Thanks again for sharing. Al
When in San Francisco Bay area, don't miss the chicken & waffles at "Brown Sugar Kitchen" in West Oakland. I discovered it by accident because I would ride past on my bike at 7 a.m. heading to work, and I was like "what's that?!" Turns out it's a destination. The waffle is a revelation.

Excellent coveraged I watched with my son, and we enjoyed immensely as we plan to visit Harlem in the very near future. We loved you all authencity! Thanks so much!
Just saw this video because I came to Harlem for some business, stopped by Amy Ruth's to try the chicken and Waffles! Amazing thanks for the recommendation.
John you gotta hit up Jacob's on 129th and Lennox. I used to go there Friday night and enjoy the live band play the classics. The food alone is BANGIN! but with the live music, it takes it the stratosphere. Gotta make a part 2 with Evan.
Really enjoyed this Harlem tour, Evan is a great guide, I never knew about Grand Tomb, I'll have to check it out, the food at Amy's looks amazing, really good vibes
As a guy who lives in 99 st East side, Evan was spot on about people in Yorkville or below seeing anything above 96 street as dangerous. Fun fact: Barack Obama used to live on 94 st between 1st & 2nd ave while going to Columbia University in the 80’s & he stated the same thing in the first page of his book “Dreams from my Father”, about an invisible border before & after 96 st people choose not to cross. As a native New Yorker for 25 years you’ll really exceeding my expectations in your New York intelligence Here Bar Barr, would start donating to your Patrons for more of these videos, I’m learning soo much, thank you!
Good video! I'm from Harlem born and raised; specifically Spanish Harlem but it has great history, good food, and good place to find the culture of the two.
Yes Amy Ruth's us the place. Been eating there everytime I visit NYC. 3 to 4 times a year. I lived around the corner in 116th and 7th in a Brownstone for 3 weeks.
That's my new neighborhood! Literally. Awaiting on word my apartment application was accepted.... There are GREAT places to eat and drink at in the area. Cheaper than UWS, Midtown and further downtown. Quieter too. Already have been to Amy Ruth's and Red Rooster/Ginny's Supperclub (downstairs), so much to explore!
Thanks for taking me home! Lots of memories in this terrific video. From the first couple of frames standing on the 125th St. #1 train uptown side platform with where I grew up in the background (Manhattanville Houses) as the #1 train was my line, and the iconic 125th St. stop was my station. I saw lots of familiar scenes and places. I’ve enjoyed Amy Ruth’s, I lived one block west of the GORGEOUS Strivers’ Row on 138th St. in a Brownstone from 1983-1987 before moving out of NYC thirty-two years ago, so it’s nice to see my old stomping grounds with you, your excellent guide Evan and the lovely #TeamAdriana. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, enjoyed it.
@ Here Be Barr 1:46, 2:43, 3:19, 4:06, 4:26 - At first, I thought you were being stalked until you introduced your stalker as #TeamAdriana.* *Yep, I'm obviously new to your channel :)
Thanks Evan for the wonderful informational tour. I will definately be dining at Amy Ruth's. What awesome vibes and the food looks mouth watering. Grant's tomb is actually quite interesting, as his younger years were lived not too far from me in Galena, Il, (I'm from Chicago). The art and rich history of the area makes for a memorable day trip. Thanks for posting.
@2:12 “and now because of how things are changing here.,” my man trying to be PC and not say “gentrification”. Oh I miss Harlem. I gotta move back there!
Schomburg is part of Puerto Rico’s, specifically Loíza’s, history. ♥️ Love this video and now that I move to NY I will definitely visit Harlem and that place for the chicken and waffles. 🥰
Very impressed with your channel! I'm going to have to catch up on your previous videos. Harlem is an area I haven't explored yet, so definitely will visit on my next trip!
I'm moving to NYC in March 2020 and your channel has already inspired me and provided a wealth of information! I will be watching taking notes until I move! I'm a new suscriber!
I was conceived across from Amy Ruth's. At which was once known as the "Kelly Hotel" from which I was also named. 🥰🥰🥰 I miss NY. Will be the next month.
Hey! Great video agaim!!! I lived in Harlem for two years and it was excellent, watching the video I could remember the countless times I walked through all those streets, is a wonderfull neighborhood, and there are many more places to eat and have a few drinks like the famous Harlem Shakes or Harlem Tavern. I miss Harlem so much but my room was sooooo small and I had to move :(
I’ve worked on 125th near the State Building for 2 years and have to say, I love Harlem! It’s one of my favorite parts of the city. The “96th St and lower” attitude and is a resume of the “great divide” which continues today. Anyway, explore the outer Burroughs, NY is amazing! Don’t be a racist snob, people who built and run the city have amazing food, culture and history that you’re missing out on if you stay in a 100 block radius.
Great showing of Harlem. I watched it twice! Thanks for the educational history lesson too! Now, I’m gunna go have some chicken and waffles! Yum!!! 👍🏼♥️
How Harlem has changed since the mid to late 70s. I love the art work and Striver's Row; and of course some real soul food. Great job Evan great video guys.
Amy Ruth’s is my favorite restaurant and they are open almost 24 hours on the weekend I use to eat it all the time the Gabrielle Union aka smothered pork chops is my favorite
Love the videos. Amy Ruth's looks awesome. I'm coming up to NYC from Kentucky for a week in May - we're staying in Brooklyn, right next to McCarren Park. I can't wait to experience the city as an adult and your videos are helping so much!
I lived in Harlem for a while and when I moved I was left with the feeling that I didn't appreciate it. When I first moved there it seemed dangerous to me because you find a lot of drug addicts walking the streets and even though they are usually in certain crowded areas it seemed a little "dangerous" . I have to say that apart from what I mentioned before, Harlem is my favorite place, the energy that you feel linked to the art of the Harlem renaissance, make this place magical. It is as if you see reflected the energy of the great movement that so many people especially African Americans achieved, the struggle for rights, equality for those immigrants who came in search of something better ... Today you still feel that Harlem does not discriminate and welcomes all who come regardless of their situation or race. Now that I live in Queens I would die to go back, one of my favorite places to climb the stairs Morningside Park at sunset....
Great video! Never been to Harlem but I will definitely go there when I visit NYC again. Evan was a delightful tour guide. I would love to see him in other videos too. Thanks from Bill in Columbus, Ohio.
