Hey Rick, the Yamaha 012 II is a great guitar and it'll last you a good while. Their quality and consistency is usually very good. I would recommend it!

Hey! Thanks for your comment. The 2 single coils are low to mid output. The bridge humbucker I'd say is a medium output humbucker. I can't imagine you'd have any issues using it with your NUX MG-300. If you do have a problem with it, lowering the pickup height should definitely fix it for you. I have a lot of high output humbuckers and this doesn't come anywhere close in terms of output, so I think you'll be fine.

Thanks! Well to be honest I haven’t played the Donner stuff. But I’ve played lots of this more affordable stuff recently and to be honest the HB stuff is better quality. I’ve just released a more updated video on this guitar a few minutes ago and give my opinion on it now that I’ve spent more time with it. I reckon the safest bet is to go for one of these. Let me know how it turns out whatever one you go for!

Hey Eva, haha thanks so much. You’ll get there, as long as you can find a way to put in the time and stick with it, you’ll be alright. The biggest difference between the two that you’ll notice is the pickups. The 20HSS has a Humbucker in the bridge position which is really great for rock or heavier styles. It’s a much more versatile guitar. The woods are different but that’s not gonna make a huge difference and as a newer player it’s unlikely you’d notice any difference there. The finish on the ST-20MN will stay looking nice and shiny and will be very hard to damage. The ST-20HSS finish will wear with time and end up dull in some spots and shiny in some areas. If you’re really new to guitar that’s actually a really cool thing for a lot of players, almost like a badge of honour to show you’ve put the time in! Out of the two I’d pick the ST-20HSS. The cheap Harley Benton’s can be really great, although it can a bit of a gamble, which is fine if you have experience setting guitars up and doing minor work. As a brand new player with no experience in that area I’d recommend looking at the Squier Affinity series as a safer option if your budget can stretch that far. If that’s a bit too expensive then I’d definitely go with the Harley Benton over anything else in its price range. Just return it back to Thomann for a replacement if anything doesn’t seem right. Most importantly play all of the frets up and down the neck and make sure they all ring out without any dead spots or too much buzzing. Hope that helps!

Thanks!! I’m always a bit apprehensive about recommending starter guitars because quite often lower price guitars can be quite difficult to play if they aren’t set up well. But the last couple of Harley Benton’s that I’ve received (including this one) have been well set up out of the box, good to play and those I would definitely recommend to a beginner.

@@amandaschroll Good luck with the guitar. Been playing regular for 30 years. One of the best decisions I ever made was picking up the guitar. If your fingers are weak (they are) tune the strings down until you can play easier but not tuned so low that they flop around or bend too easily.

@@rainsupe So, they don't have $20 for a Roland cable, $20 for strings, $200 for an amplifier, or $130 for a computer interface and $100 for AmpliTube, $40 for picks, $30 for guitar cosmetics, $20 for a belt, $20 for a stand, $xxx for a teacher, and so on... A guitar itself for a beginner(!) costs about 30-40% of overall initial spending. They must consider these numbers, and invest money smart.

@@sc0or idk man, some people just wanna play a little here and there for fun, and don’t need a lot of stuff for it. I found a set with all you need to play for 223$ with decent stuff for an absolute beginner. I mean yes, if you wanna take it more seriously and get stuff with higher quality then of course. But it doesn’t have to be that expensive if you just wanna play for fun :) Have a good day mate.
