You really shouldn't let them outside without supervision, they wreak havoc on the ecosystem. i own 4 rescue cats and have fostered over 20 and we let them out nearly every day under supervision. They are quite happy to stay inside once they get used to it and prefer to after a while.

I'm so glad to watch this today, and hear Kiana talk about the satisfaction one experiences when peeling those protective plastic layers off of pickups and pickguards... I was cutting pickguards yesterday, and every time I'd finish one and peel the plastic off, I thought to myself "Goddamn, this feels so satisfying!" lol. Now I don't feel like such a weirdo!

All the guitars look great and I think they're a great value too! I wonder if they make a flatter fret board because it's less work and cost, than sanding a more curved radius on the necks? Anyway, you can buy every style of guitar you've ever liked from Harley Benton and probably have less money invested than if you bought one high end guitar! You can have a Strat, Tele, Les Paul, PRS, Jaguar, etc. Sure you don't have the fancy name at the top of the headstock, but you would probably have some leftover cash in your pocket! I'll take the cash and someone else can have the fancy names!👍😎🎸🎶
@rhumandlove393
@rhumandlove393 4 года назад
They make a flatter fretboard because most modern guitars come with a lower radius fretboard. The radius of Strat is actually generally accepted as easier for chord progressions as opposed to fast playing..

Hi there, this is the second video of yours that i see all the way through!!! and it's barely the second video I see from your channel. I loved the last guitar, the Harley Benton TE-90FLT VW. it could really play any genre and get down to shredding in a metal band. Too bad we didnt see their basses. I finally loved when Kiana delivered at the end with "it's right in my face" and you gave her the ultimate validation by making her a digital that's what she said. Congratulations Kiana, you are now in the dirty leagues with the big guys.

The TE 80 doesn't want to be a typical T-Type, that's why it doesn't sound like one. Same thing with the bridge. Bought one a few years ago, fine guitar with a special character. But really heavy. If one's got problems with the back don't use it live. Played the TE 90 last year at Thomann. Brilliant guitar. Usually I don't watch unboxing vids, but with Kiana always fun😀

Regarding fretboard radius. The two ST are 13.7inch or 350mm which is more flat than big G. For big F most including new Vintage USA series are 9.5inch 241mm but back in the day ie nearly all until early 80s were 7.25inch or 184mm.

Maybe I'm weird, but I like the TE-80 pickguard material (I like to refer to it as "mother of meat loaf"). Many people replace it with the leopard spotted material that was on Prince's (btw, sounds like neither of you recognized the guitar as a Prince thing - for shame!), but it's hard to find and requires you to cut it yourself. I just bought one of these, and they've upgraded it somewhat - dark binding on the fretboard, better pickguard symmetry, better saddles, Roswell pickups. The guitar was designed to be somewhere between a Tele and a Strat, with Strat pickups and bridge on a Tele body. That's apparently what Prince wanted in a guitar, at least for that part of his career. I was quite impressed with the one I got. Perfect setup and frets/nut, and I love how the pickups sound. Fit and finish A+ aside from a minor blemish (B stock item, so not unexpected.) My only complaint is the weight, like a small boat anchor.

Radius is the curve of the neck horizontally. If you were to continue the lines of the fretboard top, it would eventually create a circle. Older guitars have more radius, like a 7.5, or 9, meaning that the circle would be smaller. And 12 in radius just means that if you take the horizontal curve of the neck it will continue out to create a 12 inch circle. Think of how a cello or. Oil in is curved, just not as drastic. Compound radius is when the treble end of the neck and the bass end of the neck have to sixes of radius.

The radius on the Harley Benton Fender copies tends to run to 14" in contrast to the standard 10" Fender radius. Also by way of reference, Gibsons have a 12" radius neck. The larger radius of course creates a "flatter" neck which is one thing I love about the HBs over real Fenders. A larger radius is a tremendous benefit if you have larger hands or like to play lead and do bends over playing chords. The TE-80 NT Deluxe looks so different, especially around the bridge, than a standard Telecaster because it's a replica of Prince's Telecaster. The reversed Fender headstock makes for longer low strings which gives you more slack and more "twang." It's a great choice for playing country rhythm, low bendy runs, and dropped tunings. The same feature was done for Dwight Yokem's Epiphone "Dwight Trash" Casino (a guitar I WISH they would bring back!).

I have a decent collection of guitars, with lots of different types of necks, and my favorites are the one's with a compound 12"-16" radius. They start more curved near the neck but get progressively flatter as you work your way towards the body. Two of my guitars with a 16" or greater radius are the EBMM Majesty and Acacia Pro Series Hades 6.
@kembooo000
@kembooo000 7 лет назад
I always wondered about these, since thes trings are supposed to get a radius equivalent to the one of the fretboard, how do you set up strings for one of these compound radiuses?
@Claimjumper55
@Claimjumper55 7 лет назад
Just like on my other guitars. Since the nut has more curvature than the bridge, they also flatten out as they get closer to the body. My guitars with the compound 12"-16" radius are the Charvel San Dimas Type 1, Schecter Banshee 6, EVH Wolfgang Special and Schecter KM-7.

I think the fretboard radius on the guitars are wrong. 350mm is 13.77 inch, and for reference the Nick Johnston sig from Schecter is a 14 inch radius... so they should be about the same. What you described sounds like they either didn't radius the fretboards, or it's like a 20" radius...

I just saw the part where you pull the knobs off that black Strat ...copy with a screwdriver. It's much easier done with a short piece of regular household string, I learned that from Scott Grove, lots of people think he's an ass but he actually knows one thing or the other. Just pull the string under, don't wrap it around, just enough so that it touches the peg, then pull to the sides and the thing should come off easily ...except if it's screwed on, always check that before ; )

Weird that their strats would have such a flat radius, considering that Fenders have a 7.25in radius on their vintage guitars, and a 9.5in radius on their modern guitars. But then again, a flatter radius is better for more intricate playing and bent notes don't choke out as quick.

The fretboard radius has nothing to do with the neck being straight. The radius is the curve of the fretboard across the strings, not from the heead to the body. fenders usually have somewhere arounsd a 9" radius and Gibsons usually have a 12" radius. higher value keans flatter fretboard which means you can get a lower action.

Was that guitar that close to being in tune after shipping? If so that’s a bit impressive. This thing sounds really good,no way I would waste my money in a Fended strat when you can get this for the price they’re going for. It sounds just as good as ANY stock fended strat I’ve heard. The color is really cool. 100% I would jump on one of these before wasting money on a fender strat. I’m with this guy on the flat fret board; I’ve never liked the larger radius feel; the smaller radius fret boards feel better on guitars to me; just more comfortable for me.

Henning Can you ask Thomann why they used a 350mm radius? The original Hank Marvin and David Gilmour Strats have 7.25 inch radiuses (184mm). The Hohner Tele may have been as flat but the Madcat reissues of Prince's guitars were 9.5 inch (241mm) as is Fenders current standard radius (for the Carbonita copy). 350mm is edging close to Ibanez wizard territory at 400mm which is a completely different style than Marvin or Gilmour. Thanks

I think that RM stands for Red Monstrosity. If you bought a goat and didn't let it eat for a few hours, it would make a similar noise. I don't object to a cheap guitar, but that one isn't even that cheap. Honestly folks, I wouldn't recommend these for beginners, because they may well need a bit of work done. But hey, each to their own I guess.

I think they tried to reach a happy medium between the shredders and the traditionalists as far as radius is concerned. That IMO is a mistake. Maybe a compound radius might have been a better option. Or just go Fender vintage with a V neck and 7.25 inch radius and be done with it.

David Gilmour is the guitarist from Pink Floyd! He had that black guitar for decades!

I just bought the fusion ll. Amazing guitar for the money. The only thing that needs changing is the bridge pickup.

Yep, I love the way the neck pickup sounds in mine. But the bridge pickup is a bit thin sounding for my taste. It's the only thing on mine I would change.

The "reverse" headstock is because of string tension.
