There are demo days like I attended in this video where you can test ride any of the bikes you like as many times as you can which is usually about four rides. Then there are individual appointment rides for a particular bike but both cases rides typically last 15 to 20 minutes. if you want to try a bike longer people typically will rent the bike for one or two days but it is not free there are rental fees involved.
How do manufacturers and dealerships in the US get away with it? There's no way I'd part with tens of thousands of $ for a bike without having a free unhindered test of at least half a day. Harley and BMW dealerships in the UK all offer new test bikes free of charge the same as other Brands. I understand that under dealership contracts with the manufacturer they have to offer test bikes. The only thing we are asked for is to top the fuel back up. Insurance is covered by the dealership, and test bikes are sold with an attractive price normally with 4000 miles or less. American biker's need to take on the dealer's and manufacturer's, you're getting a very poor deal😉
@@Texas2Tires I'd never get a test ride then😂 I've asked for test rides here and told them I have no intention of buying until some point in the future. No problem!.
@@SmittyAZ One dealership gave me the run around saying they don't do test rides anymore due to liability issues. They recently had a guy crash, blah blah blah. A few days later, a different staff member had me on a bike for a test ride. Really hit or miss and agree there can be a big difference in customer service between corporate owned dealers and family owned dealers. I agree with @vacoasrebel6729, how do they expect people to drop thousands on something that is untested. Dealers should have one of each bike as a test bike that they can sell off at the end of the year at a discounted rate. Luckily most brands have demo days at least once or twice a year where you can ride any of the bikes, but it is only a 15 minute ride and is usually in an urban environment. No twisties or long highway miles. With that said, I bought my bike unseen, untested. It was during COVID time. I just watched as many youtubers test riding the bike as possible and it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Luckily the R1250RS fit my expectations and I've been enjoying it since December 2020.
