I did this to my 2003 Road King CVO 103''. Changed the air filter and spark plugs and cleaned carb as you show us how. It made a wonderful change in its performance. Thank you, Great information on this Channel.

Thanks for posting! I just did this to deal with a P0507 code on my 2012 Dyna. Cleaned the oil fog out of my air filter housing with Denatured Alcohol, used CRC Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner on the MAF, throttle body, and IAC. Idle is back down to 1,000 RPM and runs great.

I have one that was sitting for a long time. I did this and it actully worked! Now it idles very nicely. Thank you very much for the tip!

Had some issues with my throttle not closing when I would shift and a little hesitation on some slow speed stop n go's where you don't actually put your feet down.... cleaned the air filter and lubed it and nothing. Replaced plugs with new HD factory recommended plugs and nothing. Finally took the air filter back off and back plate breather assembly, got a can of CRC Throttle Bottle Cleaner and went to town cleaning. Took me about 30 minutes to get all the carbon build-up off the TB intake area and clean the butterfly valve with a rag and old toothbrush. Then fired her up and gave her a good 15 to 20 blasts with some throttle. Shut her down. Put her back together AND I CANNOT BELIEVE what a DIFFERENCE it made. I swear it's a new bike (2015 Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low with 23,000 miles). CRC TB Cleaner is GOLD!!! :-)

Great video. Learning a lot watching all these. Question. Does anyone know if a 2015 Sportster 1200 has an IAT sensor? Or is it called something else. I’m getting a P0113 code, my engine light comes on intermittently and bike runs rough. Does anyone know if this will help or do I have to replace a sensor? Thanks.

Hi Rocco, I’m in need of your advice. I have a 2013 Dyna superglide. It idle’s very rough and rpm’s are high. Followed by check engine light. Even as I get going the high rpm’s are still going & check engine light still on. A couple miles later, both disappear but later on, reappear and the same thing happens.

Rocco, i have a 2002 ultra classic, s&s 510 cams, adjustable pushrods, Arleness stage 1 air filter, s&s 2-1 sidewinder exhaust (race baffle). And a v&h fuelpak. Recently replaced ignition coil, screaming eagle plug wires, plugs. And about to replace Tps...cleaned the throttle body today. I have been having issues jerking/ cutting out and bogging down in all gears not as bad in 1st-3rd but highway is bad in 5th gear cuts out terribly. Any help? Its not as bad around town but it's all the similar symptoms to a bad tps.

Mr. Rocco, my 2014 FLS, started up with no issues, but every time I slowed down and downshifted neutral to stop, the RPM would drop way low and the bike would die. Hit the start button and it would fire back up, I'd have to keep pressure on the throttle at all time to make it not stall .... There's no code shown....Any clue where to start to fix this? please...

I have a 2004 harley heritage softail after i cleaned and oiled my k&n filter ran good for abit then now i start it and it idles really high when its cold and when put in gear it bogs and stutters then goes then when it warms up its fine heard if theres to much oil on filter it gets on the sensors, going to try this but was told should clean the IAC when its cold

I have a 2011 heritage the throttle feels a little gritty doesn’t snap back like I think it should ….i think I might get a can of this and make sure that butterfly is clean do you think it might be caused by some build up in the throttle body?

hi Rocco, in a throttle by wire, can I just push the plate in open position? and stick something into it?

I have a 2009 harley sporster xr 1200 i put a 2 into 1 bassani header ran perfect then e 3 plugs an a k an n air filter now bike won t idle an chk eng light comes on intermittently any advice will be highley appreciated thank you

I have 2010 wide glide, and when I start it, it idles rough, if I dont rev it a little, it will stall, one time I rode it and the engine light came on after it cutoff a few times, I believe the codes were p0261 and p0263 and 1003, I looked it up and it said both front and rear injector circuit low, and relay, so I swapped out the relay the next day cleared the code and rode off, it seemed fine but cold starts fails to start as I stared above, and now I'll here a unusual sound in the tank when it re prime

Will this work on an 07 road king 96çi motor. Idles so low when at running temperature. Especially at stop lights with clutch in. Would the technique help?

I don't have an idling problem on my 2014 883 but i'm sure this needs to be done anyway. From time to time, the engine makes a sucking/vacuum sound at low rpm and higher gear (when I give throttle). So it has to be something with the TB. I opened my filter and there was oil.. so I drained her a bit. Dealer went crazy with oil probably (bought it from them). This video dates a little bit so i'm wondering if you will see my comment.. in case you do, please give me your advice :) Thanks for the explanations here.

I have an 07 Street Bob and while riding I pulled the clutch and it fell flat on its face with no codes whatsoever. Haven't been able to get it to idle since... hopefully this does the trick!

Thank you for these videos! I just performed this operation on a 2017 883 sportster; turned out great. I am looking for some guidance on the Mass Air Flow sensor cleaning process ... I’ve read that sensor can trigger a false positive code on the o2 sensor. Is that the sensor that is plugged into the top air intake manifold? There isn’t much out there on this and saw Brian G’s post I am new to bikes, this is my first Harley. Any guidance is very much appreciated. Don O from Az

Hey cheif my 2007 flhrc is doing the Same thing with the iac but only when I'm riding and it's up to temp it will idle low and stall bog ect I cleaned it twice now I'm just looking to replace it and the auto part store is doing what they can even nappa couldn't match it. the part number is what's throwing it off any suggestions

Tried doing this unfortunately no go for my prob. 08 xlc1200 with rpm’s fluctuating when clutch is engaged, it will reset if i come to a stop but after hitting the highway coming to a stop it’s going up and down? Not sure we’re to start any recommendations

I just got a sportster 1200. Ran it for the remainder of last year. Every once in a while it will what I call "cough" while going down the road. Ive changed the coil and wires but its still puking on itself. It seems to be blowing out the carb. I know the basics about motors but since this is my first bike I'm a little lost. Any ideas

Hey Rocco, my Sportster winds out in every gear before it should. Example in 5th gear at 50 mph it has upto 5000 RPMs and sounds redlined.the bike will eventually go faster if you hold it there. Then maybe because of all the heat from redlining downshifting disappears and finding neutral is hard.

Hi Rocco, thanks for the video. I have a 2013 iron 883 and I did the same thing like the video, because I had the code PO505 but it didn't work I have the same problem. Also when I am riding it the speedometer doesn't show the speed. What it can be?

I did this after a wash(filter was covered when washed) and now my bike Boggs down when warmed up on high rpm’s and will cut out at idle. Plz help lol 07 dyna super glide

Great video and I will do this this weekend. Rocco, recently I changed the fuel pump, pressure regulator and filter, on my Night Train 08 and today when accelerating in 3rd gear, I felt like bike was choking. But only in 3rd gear, not in 4th or 2nd. Any idea on what to look for? Thanks and have a great weekend.

I have the same harley as yours. It's a 2016 harley davidson sportster custom 1200 in red, I noticed It is a little jerking when I am riding under 60 km per hour, I did overfill the oil once, and the motor sprayed the oil out. Do you know what could be the issue? Thank you

I did this on a customers 07 Dyna and it fixed the low idle issue and shutting off when you pull in the clutch in gear issue

My 2012 harley v rod started idling crazy.dies on first gear.if i get to get on 2nd it stalls and exhaust pops.it started doing this right after i put gas in bike. Any help???

My wife's 2013 xl 883 seams to idle ok. When we ride she says it cuts out. I hope this video helps with the problem thanks

Ive got a 09 Sporty 1200 thats Idling wayyyyyy high. Got her to the next bar, shut her down, when I got going It idled fine again!!! I checked the throttle cable spring, seemed okay. Gonna do this and see if it fixes.. Might need a new sensor tho

Rocco, I greet you with pleasure. I want to ask you about a concern about my sportster custom 1200 year 2016 and 8500 miles and v&h slip ons. I recently cleaned the throttle body, air filter (k&n) and changed the engine oil. The motorcycle presents a semi rough acceleration, I maintain 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, approximately 40-45 mph and when going through rough or uneven asphalt the acceleration becomes a bit erratic and on some occasions there are explosions unrelated to combustion, the failure feels like when a carburetor is dirty or it begins to run out of gasoline. At the moment, I changed spark plugs, I adjusted the clutch and primary chain, what other verification or adjustment could I do to reduce said failure? I don't have remapping on it. I appreciate your collaboration.

Hi i hava 2007 softail 1584cc efi n its been running fine til jus th other day i started it to go for a ride n its jus bakfired frm th very 1st start n continues to do so it sound f..cking terrible n its realy putting a downer on my riding days can sumone please suggest wot th problem could b n wot to look for n wher to start diagnosing my problem? I just bought a 1997 Roadking with the Marreti marelli injection...the warmup idle idles normally about a minute or 2 then revs down to a good lower idle with a 2 into aftermarket exhaust but after a five minute ride up the road, I then shut down the engine, heads feel nice and warm....., when restarted within a couple minutes from stopped it seems to high idle all over again for 20 to 30 seconds......is this normal for these injections? Do they need longer rides to get the warmup idle to let it go lower? Are there adjustments to remedy?

Could this bein dirty cause spitting and sputtering when the throttle is barely open?

Just performed this cleaning on my 1200 nightster... plus fully cleaned air filter. I was getting a hesitant miss at 70 to 80 mph on motorway after a 350 mile ride in last 50 miles so hopefully it's this. Bar for bad fuel not sure what else it is

Wouldn't it be wise to pull it out the top and clean it properly? Probably faster too!

So your worried about damaging the coating but use a brush that is had a metal handle or atleast collar holding the bristles and can clearly hear it scraping around why you use it. That seems pointless to worry about a coating then.

It's a torx not torque.... not plural...

You don't take a tiny paint brush and clean out the throttle body that's just smearing the dirt around inside , you need to take a clean shop rag and wipe out the dirt and fluid from the throttle body, don't use a brush like this guy.

I have always cleaned it with the bike off, does it need to be cleaned running?
