I recently purchased a 1999 H D RoadKing, with an 88 cube V twin, 6 speed Baker, 2 into 1 Vance & Hines exhaust, cams, 34 ,000 miles, rode it half way across America in 2 days, and had a blast doin it
KnuckleUpFightClub m: yes the Road King is my favorite I jumped in on back in 98 February immediately when looking at the Road King when I purchased mine was 2005 and then Richie Cousin and then I call the thrills understanding things I see you clean so it was perfect for me. Now it is 30 years old and the New Rd., Kings are awesome
Road King is a Touring Machine but because it has a light weight lexan wind shield it is more nimble around town and your local roads. No one tours on every ride. So if you want an machine that can tour very well and also be a fun local daily rider the Road King is in my opinion the best choice. You can remove the windshield in 30 seconds if you feel like more cool breeze in your face on a hot day. Like wise you can remove the saddles if you wish to look and travel lighter around your home on your every day jaunts.
Huge improvement LOL. The Road King hasn't made much change in years. They always look the same. But folks still like them. The screws on this one needs to have a coating to stop the rusting. Nice bike enjoyable.
Got a '15 Road King and it's an absolute pleasure to ride!!! Wouldn't trade it for anything. Most versatile bike in the touring line up. Can put a quick detach bat wing fairing on it if you want tunes, in seconds take it off and ride it stripped down. I wouldn't put one on it, but then I don't need music and a fairing either to ride all day.
Ya, April 4th 2020 I had my new Harley for 11days and someone decided to make a left turn right in front of me, destroyed my bike and in a coma for 8 days and brain damage. I still can't drive or work BUT... BUT I'm alive so..
Its a nice bike, Road King is and always been my favourite Harley but i ended up getting the Indian Springfield and my wife now drives my Chief vintage
I have a 2012 RK and I am quite fond of it, great bike. I don't know what you "move up to" from here, maybe newer version but at 61 this is most likely my last bike so I am happy I made it a good one
It's almost like the only thing they can think to do is stick larger motors in their bikes at this point. Honda has a great production line that won't kill the pocket and let's mention that shaft drive.. So smooth, so dependable. No oil leaks.
Funny I felt the power to be slow, upgrading with a stage 1 woke it up. It is my first touring bike so maybe I expected more. It was very well balanced and for an 800 lb bike it handles very well even on the dragons tail.
Thanks for sharing! I picked up a 2016 Road King & absolutely love it, trying to get wife to go across country with me, she’s willing to do Texas possibly,, lol!! Live outside Houston..
I bought a used 2015 Road King Police. Couldn't be happier, but do wish the instrumentation package was arranged differently. Don't like looking down so far to see the instrument panel on top of gas tank.
poo head Marketing they think it lends credibility to the review. They think everyone is a FF groupe also caters to blue collar guys that’s the majority of there sales.
Thoroughly enjoy My 2007 Road King with one exception, the fuel gauge quit working and that's an annoyance. It's hard to take a short ride on it, just want to keep going.
It no longer matters. The HD motor company can not just lower prices. We now have access to Harley corporate balance sheets. This motor company in the red by almost 500 million. They are forced to sell bikes with substandard parts, just to generate the "shop-income" in some veil attempt to service some of these loans. This company in such a death spiral, is now only a matter of time before the banks start calling them in on some of these loans.........
Make that dream a reality. They now have a 107 motor. I own a 2015 with mega-upgrades including the Screaming Eagle package & couldn't be happier with it!!
I never liked the windshield metal part , they looks like home made cheap metal, it ruins the hole motorcycle design. . I like the windshield design from the Honda ACE Vt1100 tourer. Honda maid a beautiful logo on the metal that cross side by side on the windshield .. I wish Harley can make something similar. .
I got a 2019 RK, and absolutely hated it from day 1. never should have traded in my fat boy lo. too top heavy for starters, hydro clutch...SUCKS. brake pedal in the middle of the floor board....can't put my foot on the right HWY peg. flakey clutch, after the wheel locking up and breaking my leg that was it. l traded for a 2019 heritage softail. sooo much better than the RK. same motor too.
Me neither. it was fast I'll give it that. beut so was the heritage with the smae motor and 150 lbs lighter, handled much better too and more ergonomic. low seat, great bike. engine guard I got for it broke like a twig th9ough, really cheap compared to the one I got for my fat boy. I guess to make them lighter, they stopped using steel.'
