People just don't understand how success of royal enfield has forced triumph and harley davidson.... Royal Enfield is slowly increasing their displacement from 350 to 650...they already have gt650, int650 and meteor 650 on road but still have hunter 650, classic 650,himalayan 450,scram 450 being tested to launch.... Triumph and harley will never win with just bigger capacity bikes... Bmw was smart to understand this and joined Indian tvs to develop bmw g310, gs310 and g310rr.... Brands like ktm saw tremendous success with ktm 125cc and ktm 200/250cc lineup.. Triumph biggest success was trident 660...
Doesn't matter where parts are made. The question is whether HD did R&D on it. Even the triumph 400 will be made by bajaj. But atleast they did some R&D on it.
As a comment on the street series. I am in the US and was about to drop the money on a Street 750 right in time to see it cancelled. I went and got the anti-Harley, a Moto Guzzi and am extremely happy with it. HD needed to give the Street series a bit more time. By the time people were becoming aware of it, the short-term thinkers at HD cancelled it. As far as the Harley Hero, I think it would be an easier sell than the Chinese Harley. I would like to see it as there isn't a single HD in the US market that I would recommend to a new rider. That said, I do not expect to see it. The US product managers would rather sell to the shrinking Boomer market, and those directly influenced by them. I understand the attraction of a relatively price-insensitive customer base. However, it positions HD as a fading brand.
No it's just America has been sold to the highest foreign bidder by corrupt politicians for so long that any American company that actually stays home and keeps jobs and manufacturing at home is celebrated because we have been gutted and are fully reliant on China. That's why Maga and Trump is such a massive grass roots movement because Americans are fed up and want their American pride back but mainly their manufacturing and self-reliance again. It has nothing to do with ego, every country prides their big companies so why is it wrong when Americans do it?
Harley is dying because they got greedy and sold out. They will be nothing but a memory in 5 years. The tradition and institution that were! Harley are now a memory.
