Harley still uses Cubic Inches for engine displacement. That 103 cubic inch dyan is 1688 cc's not 1200.

Your comments about the black Sportster 48 were reassuring. I bought a new black 48 less than two weeks ago. I got a compliment on the bike even before I rode it home from the dealer!

They improved the forks on Sportsters but I dont like all the blacking out. I like Metal colored metal. CB250 is garbage, you dodged a bullet. Get a real bike. The smallest real bike is a Ninja 400/z400.

So did they get bikes? I just found this video. It's fun to watch because it's always fun to go look at motorcycles! I have an old '99 sportster 883. They last forever, I've had it since new and I still ride it regularly. Great bikes! Good deal showing you guys running and talking about staying active. I'm the same way and you stay young if you stay active! I'm 51 and still ride street bikes and dirt bikes, ski, scuba, hiking in the mountains, etc.

Little tip if you seriously shop for Harley's. You'd get bored with a sportster, the softail don't handle well, better highway bikes. Dyna is where it's at! Lighter, much sportier chassis, with the big engines. Hint, exposed rear shocks, but without peanut tank = Dyna! If you can't see rear shock, = softtail!

The Indian Scout could work well for your mom. Very light a d easy to maneuver. Just have to be careful because it's quicker than any of those Harleys, though not until about 4000 RPM. Definitely worth a look.

My buddy bought the 750 Harley and it is incredibly slow. He raced a guy on a stock DRZ400sm and lost. Talk about embarrassing. Anybody reading this, pony up at least for a Sportster if you want to buy a Harley.

Well, (if you didnt know) Polaris OWNS both Indian and Victory. Victory "went under" because Polaris wanted to compete with HD, so, they dropped Victory to allow more focus on the Indian line up. And, even though Im sad to see Victory go, Im glad they dumped Victory and not Indian. Harleys and Indians have deep heritage and still look classy, Victories are just kind of flashy in my opinion.

Stay away from the Street Rod...lots of problems. You should check out the Indian Scout...Great bike. You can get a Scout 60 for around $10,000.00. The Scout is WAY better than the Sportsters also...

i trained ran a 4.3 in the 40 yard.run and play 16 years of football 2 years pro football and now i can hardly walk, but i can work on any motorcycle, i have a degree in mechanical engineering first place 1994 stock Dyna low rider Chicago bike show and i never even walked into a Harley shop they didn't want to sell me parts for a older bike, now sell me a new bike that would make their day, and i have the money but i won't play their game,,

The Black Low Rider S, The S doesnt stand for soft tail. Soft tail has the mono shock setup. That is a Dyna Low Rider S, has the duel rear shock setup.

After I seen the Indian ftr 1200 it ruined my taste for anything else, I like the Indian scout it's better then other cruisers I've seen, I'm butthurt Polaris got rid of victory though, but they can redeem with the Indian ftr.

Their "Cool factor" is not a factor to me, they dont appeal as cool. I dont like the style of cruisers, so I am not a fan of any hardley a motorcycle bikes. Sell me on a smart design and faired aerodynamic bike with cornering and power so I am happy on 2 wheels!

My friend got his gf a bike she's no longer with us , if you do get her a bike don't get new , get cheap 250 to learn because she will drop it don't learn on a 1200 or even 883 get 250 or 300

Chain drive is far more reliable than a belt. It is repairable too. Belt drive is quieter, and do not require periodic lubrication. I may convert my new XL to a chain. A belt also better absorbs drivetrain lash.

HD are cool but I've seen way too many broke on side of the road to even consider owning one, not sure about reliability on the new ones also check the lean they tend to scrape the foot pegs and need improvement on the brake department.

the street bikes are not “starter” bikes. They are for a different market which may include some new riders but they should be labeled starter bikes.
