I've ridden the heck out of the entire H-D touring line-up and owned just about all of them. After riding several thousands of miles on a Challenger (including just completing 10,000 miles in 14 days), I have to say it's the best motorcycle I've ever ridden. BWT, mine and the two other Challengers with me had no issues! These bikes are rock solid! Thanks Tall for a great review!

I was a long time Harley and Triumph rider. I totaled my Road Glide Ultra a couple years ago, test rode the 18 HD and the Indian Roadmaster. There was no comparison, the ride, handling, comfort, std features sold me. I haven't regretted it on bit.

In my opinion being a 1 year old Road Glide rider. The Road Glide was my first bike. The Harley is on one end of the spectrum being the last of the hotrod world. The goldwing is at the opposite end like a Lexus. In between these two is the Indian. A lexus with a hotrod look.

Just bought a 2020 Indian Challenger Darkhorse, LOVE IT! You're right on everything you said too, and that's the stuff that made me want this bike the best out of the box bike off the showroom floor. In a few years there will be plenty of upgrades especially in the speed dept as Indian will be getting help from S&S as well as Lloyds. Oh and I'm in Port Huron, Michigan.

Tall, you made the best case for both American brands. The Challenger is a new bike and experiencing some issues you would expect of a new model. Not that the Milwaukee 8 has been trouble free either. In the end, for the price, you are going to get the bike that speaks to you.

Great video TT. I currently own 3 Harley's. In this case the Challenger wins. Bang for buck. More included off the showroom floor. The biggest thing for me is the improved suspension. Harley really needs to upgrade their frame and suspension on the touring models. They did a fantastic job with the softails. Take care. Stay well. Have a blessed day.

I love my Indian but since I was a kid I always wanted a softail, if it was not for the terrible service from the HD dealer I would be riding a HD today. To me a motorcycle is a motorcycle they have different personalities...just depends what personality you like. If I could I would own a number of different bikes for when I feel like doing something different. Great review man. 👍🏾💯🇦🇺

I know i'm a bike short, and 2 months too late but uh...... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BOFDCnA7zb8.html I just test rode a HD Road Glide (19) today with my wife and I'm hoping to set up a Challenger test ride next weekend if possible. The RG was nice, my current (and first owned) bike is a Vulcan S but its a little small for me and definitely too small for the both of us. Beautiful starter bike, that aside the RG is a Cadillac in comparison. It does everything besides shift smoother (lol clunk). Buying is out of the question atm but in a year or so? I have to ride the Challenger first because the Limited in that Deep Water metallic blue is perfection. If I can convince them to put the dark horse engine on that bike (not a big fan of a lot of chrome) I'll be sold in a heartbeat on looks alone. Main point of posting that is that HD RG is much slower than 1/2 a second to that of the Challenger. O'Hara was almost 30 seconds ahead when he 'went off track' and still reeled in the Vance and Hines HD with an SnS motor as if he was only leisure riding. They both were moving some serious pork shoulder but that Challenger with a little bit of tuning was insulting everyone else on the track. All this said, I like a lot of HD's style and mainly dislike a portion of their followers. This type of competition can only bring good things to all of us as consumers and I really hope it wakes HD up.

I have ridden a 2020 RG and the Challenger both in stock form and for me, the Challenger wins hands down. It is just a more complete package straight out of the box for less money then the HD. Also being from Australia we don't have to worry about all this dealership nonsense that you guys in the USA have. Any motorcycle mechanic can work on any bike down here so that doesn't factor in when picking what brand of motorcycle one rides. I am pretty sure if you guys didn't have to rely on a "dealership network" then things maybe different. Anyway nice review Tall. Enjoyed it a lot. Cheers

I test rode the Challenger LImited just like the one you rode on their demo day. Will continue to stick with Harley because of the extensive dealership network, customization options and just buying from a time tested manufacturer. The dealer seemed a little shady because their sales pitch was just about slamming Harley Davidson and how they suck. They had a HD Street Glide for comparison, but people started to like the Street Glide too much. It was kind of funny that they stopped allowing people to ride the Street Glide. There are issues starting to crop up with stress cracked head braces which is extremely dangerous with their touring models. Anyway, awesome video Traveling Tall!

I buy the bike for the engine as that is the most expensive to modify. I usually do not perform any expensive mods on bikes on a depreciating asset. Harley should offer its stage kits from the factory to help prevent depreciation.

Harley dealerships, at least the ones I've been too, will install the different stages and if it's done within the first 60 days of purchasing the bike, it is included in the warranty.
@gabrielcocco5188
@gabrielcocco5188 4 года назад
@@2001redz28 The majority of buyers can't afford all those upgrades in a monthly finance charge. Plus, don't dare use a non HD part or you'll void the warranty. The Local Indian Dealership installs and warranty aftermarket parts and installation. As a consumer You and I should be getting more from a stock bike!

I have considered Indian before I got my Harley. At that time I was considering the Bobber and the Harley 48. What drew me towards Harley more was not only the customization options but also the history behind the company. I never purchased the 48, I attended a demo day and rode the 48, FatBoy, SG, RK. Once I rode the SG I knew it was the bike for me. Great video Tall, and its really cool you had the opportunity to do this.

Tall fam, i appreciate your unbiased video review which is unlikely from an HD man and for pointing out the manute personal preferences that are easily resolved by switching out aparts such as the stock seat and for a slightly tinted windscreen but at the end of the day the 2020 INDIAN CHALLENGER hands down is a bad mutha it is what it is, you dig. 🗨️☝️😎💢

G’day Tall. Coming at this from Australia, where we have some downright crap roads, good suspension and handling is also a BIG factor. Although I have mostly owned Harleys over the last 43 years, I get frustrated with their pathetic suspension on such an expensive bike. You nailed it with great and well reasoned reviews right through. The 2021 Challenger will be the one to buy imo, as they develop options and improve the bike. God bless ya brother. Keep up the great work.

I like the fact that you are an HD owner and you were not trying to bash Indian just giving a fair and HONEST opinion. Too many HD owners just flame other bikes to make themselves feel good about their HD. You touched on dealerships, the other problem regarding Indian is that there is chance Polaris will do the same thing they did to Victory and suddenly stop making them.

I man love your channel. I’m from Miami, Florida and I ride a 2020 road glide special. I had myself a 2019 chieftain darkhorse and being my first touring bagger, I loved it. It was my second Indian motorcycle at the time, the first was a 2019 scout bobber. I went to Harley and traded it in for a 2020 road glide special and now I love Harley. In my opinion both motorcycles are great and totally different when it comes to performance and riding. But for me Harley is just more of everything, more aftermarket parts, more dealers, more shops, easier to get parts and cheaper. I also have to agree with what you said on the video, with Harley you kinda get a blank canvas which you can customize to look however you want. Great channel,.

Great review but being an Indian owner it is what I expected. I agree with 100% of Tall’s review. Harley is a great bike, awesome dealer network tons of aftermarket and the sky’s the limit in what you can do with it. I simply purchased an Indian because straight off the floor I get more and more comfortable suspension. If I was 10 years younger decision may have been different because looks and customization would have been higher on the list. I like them both. Still a Road Glide fan! It’s simply a personal choice. They both have tons of positives that out weigh their few negatives. Would be proud to own either brand.

With everyone talking about the speed off the showroom floor the Indian, something you're forgetting is the Harley-Davidson is a 45-degree V-Twin the Indian is a 60-degree V-Twin water cooled. The motor comparison is apples to oranges completely different the Indian motorist what they use in the Ftr it's also very similar to the V-Rod motor. The 60 degree twin in the Indian revs higher. I will say the Indian is a very good-looking bike but I still love the Harley Davidson. Good review TalI I think you did a great job brother!........Ride hard or stay home😎

Nice review of the Indian as it's a fine machine already off the showroom floor. It bums me out that you have to put an additional 3-5k on an already 20-25k Harley to get any giddy up out of it hence the declining sales IMO.

I just traded my 18 SG CVO for a 2020 Chieftain Elite 2 days ago due to the quality, power, balance and light weight feeling of the Elite. Not to mention the up graded 400 wat power band stereo, 2020 model close outs discounts and standard features that HD just doesn't offer. I will definitely miss the HD culture and dealership available which Indian currently can't compete...however I am extremely happy with my purchase. Ride whatever you love and love whatever you ride!

Best objective comparison I have heard yet. My opinion is I don't like the looks of an Indian. Even though I see a resemblance to HD, the Indian does not look as streamline. The long & short.. I am HD person pure and simple. Thanks for sharing your experience. You did right by the Indian MC company. Good job!

Very nice review. So I have a question...... Would you buy a Challenger for your own garage if you could??

Great review/comparisons between the two bikes. Very in depth & honest on both pros/cons on both brands! Good, strong competition between brans will make both brands better... meaning riders are the ultimate winners!! Hopefully both brands are listing! Thanks again for sharing and big props on more quality content! Continued safe riding!!

The Indian is a great bike and like you said it’s not like a Street Glide. At first glance it favors a Street Glide. I wish Harley-Davidson would open the M8 engine more then what it is. Definitely upgrade the suspension and include the lock bags. Harley-Davidson is a great bike and I plan on having a 2021 Road Glide Special. As always it’s a pleasure watching your channel. Ride safe and keep the rubber side down.

fair review . Had the opportunity to test drive HD, BMW TOUR ( wow ) and challenger . Fell in love with the power and tech of the BMW but it’s not my style and didn’t like the look. Winner was the Indian for me that beat out for overall comfort and build quality. Thanks though for your review. Very happy decision .

The base Challenger is the best bang for the buck in my mind and this ole day tourer got hooked on electric windshield adjustments when I had the Vision. At my tender age, comfort matters way more than looks. Enjoyed the review.

Knoxville, Tennessee is where i live. Ride a Triumph Bonneville. Been considering getting a bagger and appreciate the view. My buds at Danger Company love their Harleys. Seriously considering busting that up with a Rocket III and now a Challenger.

Loving these reviews Tall. You ever hit the Rock we will ride! I’ll be going from a hot high-ball to a bagger and man I don’t have chicken strips so that challenger might be for me lol. I’m missing about an inch off my pipes and peg studs lol. Not sure a stock glide will get me there. So it’s between Challenger decked out or a CVO with KST bars.

Good review...... I own a indian Ftr 1200 and my dealer told me it can have warranty service done at any Polaris dealer since Polaris owns Indian ( in fact my oil filter says Polaris on it lol ) . I'm just guessing here but I'm pretty sure there are more Polaris and Indian dealers combined than Harley dealers in the USA . Have you got on the FTR 1200 yet ? It's a beast

Do the dealers stock motorcycle parts, and do they have the expertise to work on the bikes? That would be my concern?
@sailfishoneday2145

@@billwelsh7489 I would advise u call an Indian shop and ask them details , but Polaris is / owns indian , there techs are def trained . Go dig on Indian website for more info ... bottom line is there are plenty of shops around the country to have warranty issues fixed for free . Saying that there are not that many Indian stores and that's a reason to not buy one is an ignorant statement cas if you do you research you will find the opposite . And if u do more reasearch u will see Harley lost 90 mill last quarter and is cutting back production 30 percent on there bikes and closing stores throughout the world , not gona jump to conclusions but it's not looking good for them

I had a friend who bought a Polaris jet boat and told the same thing. He moved a few states away after purchase and it broke down. He finally found someone to work on it that was 1,400 miles away. He got it fixed and turned around and sold it for a loss to the next unlucky buyer.

I did my research and all your points were valid I ended up with the SG just due to parts and dealerships and price. I was looking for a used bike and just not enough out there for the chieftains. With that being said great bike and great review stay Blessed.

Great review of the Indian Challenger. I own a 2020 Ultra Limited but came from a Victory Cross Country Tour. To be honest, if the Challenger was out I wouldn't own the Harley. My Victory rode better than my Harley and it was a 2013. You are right the HD infrastructure is better but HD needs to watch out or they are going to have serious issues with Indian. Keep up the great reviews!

Great review. I own a 2016 chieftain and got a chance to ride the Challenger this past weekend. It’s a great bike with lots of power and more accell than my 111 for sure. I agree that both Harley and Indian make fine bikes and it’s really about preference. From a stock perspective you tend to get a little more with the Indian but you can’t go wrong with either manufacturer. Just ride what you like and enjoy the road. Doesn’t matter what kind of bike it is as long as you’re enjoying it. I’m in Harleysville Pa, not far from Philly!

You always give me a lesson about all bikes and I appreciate that greatly. Your comment about Harley Davidson being a bike that is meant to build on after purchase is correct. A Harley bike is just the down payment for what comes next. I'm not looking to keep adding to my purchase theses bikes cost enough now.

Agreed, great review. It’s not a Harley. I have an Indian and a Harley. I love them both. Appreciate the ride for the bike that your on. I think Indian is great for the Harley market, for some good old fashion market competition. Consumer wins!
