Dealer installed $400 set of 4.5" daymakers along with 7.5" headlight on my 2013 Harley Ultra Glide. One daymaker went bad. Called Harley and opened up a case then was told no assistance would be provided. Called dealer and they told me to call Harley.
Moved forward with researching options if that is how Harley will stand behind their parts. Found the Xprite Chrome 4.5" Inch 60W Cree Led Daymaker replacement Lights 6000k on Amazon for $41. They look great and match the original Daymakers exactly. Best of all, they come with a longer warranty than Harley offers. My lights were well under two years old and failed.
UPDATE: As of 2/14/19 these lights still look as good as the day I installed them and just as bright! Still recommend!

I will NEVER put Harley daymakers on any of my Harley’s ever. Amazon Sunpie, Wisamic, or Xbrite like you got are a way better and cheaper option. Even if you go through 5 of them over 5 years you still paid half the price and got more life than a day maker. I love my amazon leds. More often than not Harley is buying the same product and stamping their logo on it anyways.

Typical Harley. They put a 400 dollar price tag on a product that doesnt last as long and is dimmer than a 40 dollar light from amazon. And they wonder why sales are down.
@lundyfan30
@lundyfan30 5 лет назад
American Ride agreed. If they charged 100 it would probably sell ten times better and actually make them more money

You get what pay for. One way or the other. Going to the trouble of buying a Harley and then putting a cheap Chinese part on it to me is ridiculous. If you can't afford a Harley light then maybe you should have bought a cheer bike. It's like the people that complain about the price of a gallon of gas.
@lundyfan30
@lundyfan30 5 лет назад
JimorJames Smith hmm. I bet you’re the biker that only puts HD parts on, goes to all the hog chapter meetings and never leaves the house with out a leather article of clothing on. There is nothing wrong with this headlight and auxiliary light alternative. All Harley does is buy these “cheap Chinese knockoffs” and puts a lens on them with hd stamped on it. Charged a fucking thousand dollars for a headlight and aux lights is outrageous. I get the “brand loyalty” people have, but if you’re willing to spend an extra 8-900 just for loyalty you probably should’ve just bought a cvo that had everything anyway. I have a non hd seat on my bike, is that sacreligious to you too?

@@lundyfan30First of all, there is no need for personal attacks just because you disagree with me. Act your age. If you or anybody has a problem with things that Harley does, then Don't buy their bikes. Plain and simple. Buying a CVO or not has nothing to do with the problem on this video. If the complaint is about a $399 auxillary light, actually the price from Harley is $399 for 2 lamps, then maybe This shouldn't be a $20,000 bike. If the complaint is about the price of factory parts, then maybe this bike should have been a Japanese job of which the parts are a lot cheaper. Also, complaining about dropping $399 on a pair of aux lights is too much then it also leads me to believe that finances are a little tight. Also of which type Harleys are not meant for. And for your information and to enlighten your ignorant statements, the price is not $1000 It's $399 for 2 lamps, so get informed. Also, I don't go to any hog meetings ever, I don't wear leather unless I am riding and I am not just simply a Harley brand fan boy because I will be the first to say when a Harley part sucks, such as their screaming eagle pipes, which are worthless as well as some other screaming eagle parts. But also, non Harley parts on your bike voids your warranty at their discretion and it goes on the system so any service employee at any Harley dealer will see that. Then he will know what screwed really is. Let's say he goes in for an electrical short, they will blame it on that light and there goes the whole warranty, so I hope the Holmes here saved that burnt out light to put back on if he goes in for any kind of service. So if the Rabbi Rider here is just saving $300 to void his warranty and not have an extra lamp sitting around, then that is his problem.

Harley Davidson is full of shit for what they charge for their led headlamps & passing lamps. There are plenty of aftermarket options that equal Harley-Davidson version.

Nice video. I'm interested in these but I have a different shape casing. Do you know if Xprite offers the casing too and, if they do offer the casing, does it come with the retaining ring? I'm interested in removing my current driving lights and putting these on on my lightbar. Also, what's the #number of the screw to get the casing into the lightbar? Many thanks.
@douggerber
@douggerber 6 лет назад
Not certain if Xprite offers casing. These LEDs are very shallow but you'll want to make sure you have room in the back for the casing for plugs and wires. That's probably not very helpful but all I can offer. Good luck!
@MotorcycleGearHub
@MotorcycleGearHub 6 лет назад
Thanks, Doug. I did look for these on Amazon but they don't seem to have the casing. I found others but the Xprite brand seems to have good feedback. All made in China, so I don't think a known brand vs an unknown brand is going to make any difference since, very likely, both their products are made in the same factory. What I'm looking for is vibration-proof driving lights since I use them on the engine guards too, but it's being a tough ordeal (I use BBP which work good). I appreciate your reply!

Fantastic video. Thanks you gave me good idea buying genuine Harley DayMaker from eBay around 350 open box and buy Xprite led 4.5" . Total $ 400 instead $900. What do you think ? By the way how is the outside is that plastic or glass? And last question is still working good? Thanks again.
@douggerber
@douggerber 6 лет назад
And - Good idea on the open box. Interesting how many different part numbers the same OEM day makers have had over the years which tells me they are still working out the bugs. My Xprites are still working great. Took them from Ohio to D.C. and several smaller trips since installing and they still look and work great. The lens on mine are glass and feel thick. Let me know if you have any other questions. Ride safe

The DOT logo on this particular aftermarket light must be down in order to shine on road. That aspect is a bit backwards but that’s how they are made. Hope that helps.

Thanks! These lights are working as good today as they were the day I installed them. They look like new as well. Can’t say enough cops thing about them. I’ve taken them on some decent trips as well. Central Ohio to Michigan U.P. And the long way back through Green Bay in really poor weather. No fog behind lenses, no leaks or flickering. Thanks for asking.

Hello! There are other sets that include the 7" light on Amazon but they currently dont appear to be carrying that size in xprite brand. I originally found these in the xprite website then eventually found them on Amazon. I would check the xprite website. Best of luck.

Let’s see how long these made in China light bulbs last. Do you know These are “DOT” certified? Or fake DOT ~ ? you get what you paid. Please do follow up video, I am very interesting.
@douggerber
@douggerber 6 лет назад
Fair point. I believe there are ‘higher’ end and ‘lower’ end China bulbs. Xprite is on the upper scale of those in terms of longevity. These lights are still going strong after a trip to Washington DC and to Kentucky both from Ohio along with the other local rides. I’ve purchased lower end China lights for my golf cart and the lasted about a year and were full of moisture. I’ve power washed the Xprites for Harley many times and - no moisture and appear as bright as the day I installed them. Good suggestion on a follow up video. Will gladly do that soon. Thanks fo watching.

Doug Gerber Appreciate your follow up. That goes with an automotive as well. Personally when comes to service or replacing parts on my car I do not consider installing cheap aftermarket parts(especially made China) . FYI, JW speakers manufacture for H-D day maker LED lights and other manufactures. Perhaps you could try that for same high quality parts for less price. For example, HJC is one of the company manufacturing for some H-D helmets and add H-D bar and shield logo or lettering. Thank you

I bought the same daymaker head light ,like it when low beam turn on with passing light ,however when I turn hi beam the passing light off and the head light hi beam is not light up that much,it looks it is like spot light .when you turn hi beam two projectors on or only one at the bottom ?mine the bottom and tow D shape.Thanks for all your advice as always.
@douggerber
@douggerber 6 лет назад
Just plug in an Independent Control Auxiliary Lamp Wire - Harley part# 69200441and will fix that problem for good. Takes about 15 minutes to plug it in between your headlight and wiring harness and costs about $30.

Not sure about that particular aftermarket option where both projectors in the same headlight light up. In my opinion, that would generate allot of heat inside the headlight but suppose it is possible.
