Harley Dyno Tested - Dyna Lowrider S 110ci.
I wanted to see the current peformance of my Lowrider S with the Stage 1 and FP3 mapping. Following the test in some ways I was surprised and in other ways I was disapointed. You will see why on the vlog. Onwards on the Stage 2 or possibly... Just possibly the 117 with a good engine tune.

Hi Guys, apoligies I did not list the results of the Dyno. They are ; Max Power - 98.39 bhp at Engine RPM = 4.66 Max Torque - 119.25 at Engine RPM = 3.62 My Air/fuel ratio needs a little work, so I'm going to do an autotune on the bike.

do the 117. i don't think you'll be disappointed.

Wow, that is about 30 more hp than a 103 and probably 10 more hp than the stock 110. Did the stage 1 really help that much? I test rode a LRS but while it was super torquey I could tell it wasn't as quick as the torque was leading you to believe since it hits the rev limiter so damn fast.
@brasher12a
@brasher12a 7 лет назад
Few anomalies here, yours is the highest "stage 1" power from a 110 I've ever seen, your tune is completely up the duff with the AFR wondering off the chart at high rpm/kpa so get that sorted. A realistic figure from a 110 is 93-95hp 110-115ft lb with a good tune and 2-1 exhaust. The guy is saying your pipe is to blame, it's the tune... or rather lack of tune that is the problem. Get that sorted out because these SE110's run very hot to pass stringent emission laws. Best money you can spend on your bike is a good tune, via SERT, Powervision or whatever you choose as every tuner has a preference.

I test rode a demo S that had 118hp at the rear wheel. Don't know what they had done to it but it was at an HD AD. Fast and loud but unbearable to ride on the motorway.

My 2016 Street Bob 103 gets 98hp and 109 torque at mid range. I don’t have the print out in front of me now. I’ll probably stick with the 103 for now.

You're beast sounds amazing! Blub Blub Blub... Love the Dyna S for me one of the best Harleys they ever built. It will be my next bike as long I get one. Ride save!

That guy talking about the pipe is full of himself, that pipe is not hurting you. The Vance and Hines competition is an excellent pipe, you just need an actual tune. 95-99HP and 115-120tq is about average on a stage 1 S

I would get the Dynojet Powervision + Dynojet’s Target Tune that consist of two wide band sensors. With that you can get a perfect A/F ratio line throughout the rpm range.

That sound good - I'm going to research this. Thanks for the advice.

I enjoyed the video “Harley Dyno Test”. It’s nice to see if the mods preform as advertised. Some mods can actually hurt performance. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how the tune up comes out.

That was awesome. I live the Dyna Lowrider S. Your's sounds awesome. That was some very good info to find out about your fuel mixture ratio. And I now know that a lean running bike runs hotter. Makes sense if you think about it. You sure don't want to burn a valve or the rings. Hey, keep it on the ground if you can. Ride safe over many miles with many smiles.

G'day Mark you should definatel do an Auto tune & get it checked again, if you blow your motor up you may not get it repaired under warranty. Was looking at an Aussie vlog over the weekend (Ducati pangiale I think is the name) & they did a stage 5 on a 2017 Breakout, & the motor blew up, & HD blamed it on the Vance & Hines quiet baffle, so be careful. Running lean isn't good Mark, so an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure , all the best 👍😎

Bit off topic but you might want to check out the Rokform phone case and mount. Fits so well on my fxdls it looks like it was factory made. Similar to what you use but centers the phone perfectly on the bars and works great portrait or landscape.

I saw your bike at Rykers today. It looks great. The pipe really suits it but like the guy says, free flowing pipes on Harleys without a proper set up is dangerous if you don't want to melt it. Harley's are lean from the factory to start with, and big air cooled V twins will always suffer. You'll need to throw some more fuel in with a proper tune.
@Motonewbrider

Totally, it's slightly annoying considering I've spent £300 on the V&H FP3 tuner. So this should not of happened.

Never say never to a 117" indeed :) No special winter-izing here, cuz California :) Worst case is I leave it parked for a few weeks when the rains come. FWIW, I used to work in an automotive dyno shop so have some experience here. Dyno-dude nailed the AFR issue. In fact it's sooo beyond lean I am wondering if the O2 sensor was picking up reversion of outside air pushing Back into the super short pipe and being "seen" by the sensor due to harmonics/standing waves. Leaner than stoichiometric/14.7:1 is way not good, and a ~12.2:1 AFR when in power enrichment mode to avoid detonation is advisable. I seem to recall that Dynojet recommends the sniffer be at least 18" in from the end of the exhaust pipe to minimize this issue, and your pipe is barely 18" long if that in total :) So a couple of things on the dyno process: - I strongly prefer a smoothing level of 3 for sharing/discussing with the customer, and use Smoothing of 2 when deep dive diagnosing stuff. Smoothing = 5 hides far too much data that may reveal problem areas and makes it appear engines are smooth power delivery devices, which they are not. They are lumpy things, especially Harley's, once again due to that crank angle. - Ring up the dyno guys and get a copy of the digital file of your run then download the Dynojet Winpep viewer program so you can parse it: dynojet.com/downloads/downloads.aspx?dc=Software/Firmware should do it, if RU-vid doesn't block the URL... A longer final pipe to help cylinder scavenging (which is weird on a Harley due to the crank shaft angle that makes for the potato-potato exhaust sound) with a little bit of back pressure + a bump to a 6K RPM rev limiter with a proper AFR tune will pick up a lot of torque and a modest amount of HP. Regardless, a longer final pipe and a proper AFR tune will help your engine out a lot. CYa! Mako

Good job mate, looks like around a 16bhp increase with the exhaust and tune. I’m still pondering which way to go with the exhaust so looking for a Dyno chart with maybe V & H Short shots fitted. What are you going to do about the bike running so lean? Because the power looks really smooth.

Are you considering to have your bike professionally tuned or just adding an auto tuner with a different fuel tuner? I have the same bike and was considering an Oil Bud oil cooler but now I'm leaning towards a professional tune first.PSI'm running a PCV with Two Brother's Comp S 2 into 1.

Nice bike! It is running scary lean though... You can probably gain a few hp at the higher rpm's by giving it the proper amount of fuel. It looks like the graph started flat lining at the same time it went lean. Did you ever get it sorted out?

I noticed they're are a few naysayers or deaf or dumb s.o.b's in this bunch. To whom it may concern: the guy has changed the hardware on the bike, so now the software has to be re-tuned to give that beast the fuel it needs so it doesn't run lean. Harleys are tuned too f'n lean from the factory anyway. So, you might as well open the airways in,I as well as out, then find a guy that knows how to tune on a dyno properly. Shove some more fuel in and it will run with a smoother response, have more torque, have more h.p., and stop burning itself out, thanks to our tax dollars at work for emissions. And BTW, even with the factory stuff on the bike it's still running too lean and too f'n hot. You can feel on the bike where the cat converter is that it's hot as hell. You have to do these mods to make it right and to make it run richer and cooler. Fast air in, fast air out, get the A/F mix right and no more problems with too much heat and lag time. My low rider is all stock and runs like shit. When I have money in hand, i will do the same thing. Increase air in, increase air out, get the map tuned right so it adds the right amount of fuel for the amount of air moving through the engine and be on my merry f'n way. It's not rocket science. It's fuel injection that needs the computer to tell it what to do when you throttle up. If it was carberated, you'd re-jet it until the fuel was right. I hope I'm right, cause I'm just guessing. Haha.

What's with all the f*cking noise! Shows that, aside from pissing off pretty much everybody, noisy aftermarket exhausts generally make little difference to performance, and in many cases make it worse. (certainly Harley engines don't work well with short exhausts, but hey they sound loud so everyone thinks you have a fast bike, right?) Noisy exhausts are not big or clever, but do get the authorities after ALL bikers, so thanks for that.
@Motonewbrider
@Motonewbrider 7 лет назад
Hi fella - 18 bhp increase from stock. So that's a good difference. To be fair I was on the same thinking as you that at a max it would be an increase of 2-4 bhp. Just an FYI I rider with a copper who has a harley and at the same time I've always had the cops along my side and never been pulled. Granted if your exhaust is super loud then yeah you will, however your more likely to get pulled for dangerous driving etc. Now stop moaning and get back on your bike and have fun.
@saddle8bag
@saddle8bag 7 лет назад
"My bike is running super sweet." So then, the obvious thing to do is start fucking with it. Nothing like making a hot bike hotter by adding a bunch of expensive things so that you can get a better number on a piece of paper. The things humans do...
@Motonewbrider
@Motonewbrider 7 лет назад
Think you may of misunderstood me. The idea of getting the bike analysed today was to check it was running correctly after I had the V&H FP3 tuner added. Clearly the analysis emphasied that it needed a lot more work which I'm going to do so I don't have this leaner mixture issue.
@saddle8bag
@saddle8bag 7 лет назад
Put the stock pipe back on and your fueling will be fine, save your hearing, and not make people hate motorcycle riders. It's a Harley. 5% faster than slow is still slow. Enjoy it for what it is. Spend your money riding it somewhere nice and seeing some new things, eating some new foods, meeting some new people etc. If you feel the need for speed, pickup a used 600 and attend a track day. You won't get your license revoked for acting a fool and if you bin it, it'll only set you back about 1/4 of a Harley.
@BFD15i
@BFD15i 7 лет назад
@saddlebag: Why don't you let HIM decide what he's enjoying and what not? If he wants more power and / or more grunt, let him do his thing. Just because one wants more power doesn't mean that he wants to go much faster. It's just that this little extra power makes riding this beast more entertaining and fun.
@saddle8bag
@saddle8bag 7 лет назад
I'm trying to give him some guidance. He asked. Watch his videos...or most ANY street rider's videos. See how much time they spend redlining their bikes. Almost never. He could save a truckload of money by simply twisting his wrist a little further if that's what he seeks, but it ain't. It's not like he's the first motorcyclist to wannabe a spec sheet cowboy. Whaddya gonna do after you show your 5 buddies at the tavern how many more HP it made from stock? Probably cry in your beer when you realize how much money you've blown. Newsflash: you ain't gettin it back at trade in time. And Harley Twin Cams aren't known for taking to power particularly well anyway. Look up crank scissoring sometime. And it'll run hotter than it already does. I've heard that Harleys have an 80 mph limit in their owner's manuals because riding those flexi-flyer frames any faster can cause them to wobble like a drunken Weeble. That 110 will get to 80 mph plenty fast without handing a few more paychecks over to HD. Money is much better spent on gas, tires, and brake pads. And besides, I'd rather watch him out exploring than showing off his shiney new dyno sheet.
@1madmax22
@1madmax22 7 лет назад
I guess some of you can't read or hear the guy talk. He said he was getting the damn bike checked so he can get it tuned correctly. Harleys are leaned out right from the factory floor. Your tax dollars at work for emissions. Anyway, he's getting the thing to run right instead of the factory settings running it lean. And it's lean with the stock shit on as well. It pretty much needs to be retuned off the show room floor, so open the airways up and add some fuel and a good dyno-tune and you will have smoother, quicker, faster, and more torque response without the lean running b.s. which is what ruins the engine. It ain't rocket science.
