Matt I think your dealership is SO in tune to styling that people want to see. I wish more dealers would step up and out of the box to do build outs like this.. keep it up in 2019
Finally a bike from you guys without T bars, now you know what bars work for handling and cornering .... nice build, love the front end and wheels...British dude fits right in 🌮🍺
Skyler Unruh your right ... on my softail with the low seat and with drag bars and 5 inch risers gives me the ergonomics of T bars and zero pain even on 700 mile days
Nice look Matt, nice to see someone pushing the boundaries of the sporty. The new adventure bike will fill the off road niche and hopefully introduce new people to the Harley ranks. I’m anxious to see the new models.
Buy a Roadster and mod it yourself. They did mostly bolt on stuff and cosmetics. Should have put a 2 into 1 and ditch the bronze hardware. Everyone is different, though.
Really great to see a Sportster build like this, I would call it a “street tracker”. Very well thought out and one of your best builds. The motor company can learn a lot from your team and vision with this very cool Sportster. I stumbled across a vintage 1970 XLH at a local yard sale and am having a great time restoring it to factory stick. I love my Dyna and road bike, but always had a soft spot for Sportsters. After All, they are one of the pillars of the Harley-Davidson motor company. I hope The pencil necks at corporate realize this! Very well executed build Matt.
AND its an HD! Very cool machine that draws you to its looks and not the name on the tank; just like the '70's cafe HD did! All the Best to Matt and crew in 2019!
There it is!!! The seat conversion I’ve been looking for! They have one of these in town and the guys at Harley didn’t even realize the seat and rear end weren’t stock! It’s a beautiful roadster in racing orange with 12 miles on it and I’ve been thinking about getting it but the rear end has put me off a little bit.
Do you know what brand the fender/seat conversion...I have an 07 nightster I want to give a street legal flat track vibe to starting with the seat/fender. I know saddleman makes some that will fit but it seems you have to use your imagination when relocating brake and blinker lights. The combo on this roadster seems to easily accommodate all the necessary street legal rear lights.
Matt, when is the motor company going to start listening to you young guns and step up their game. I am an OG “core customer” who enjoys the innovation that is coming out of you and your guys. I mean club style entry type softail’s that you can finish off to your taste and diet racers like this. I have a 2018 Ultra stage II a 13 Heritage 103 stage I and an 01 1200XL. Time for harley to widen its core
Nice man! I think H-D is definitely widening it core. They got LiveWire coming out soon and they just announced a Street Fighter and Adventure bike. They got some very exciting stuff coming
amen! my biggest turn off is HDs blank canvas for too much money approach. the idea of spending 15-20k for a bike and then stripping half the parts off to mod it to be something better disgusts me. they need to offer custom ordering from the factory or start making a special model each year that they offer with some twists already installed. kind of like what they did with the low rider S, make something that already has a soul and only needs a few personal touches, not a full make over.
Cool video! Great to see there are still some exciting things going on around the Roadster! The bike reminds me this AMA championship with 883 sportsters some many years ago, with a lot of angle and wonderful noise. The roadster seems built for that kind of race, and would benefit from race credentials ! The wheels look awesome too!
Thank you great bike it’s great to see others ideas for custom builds. Thank you to Harley for donating the bike and a real big thank you to laidlaws H-D for donating the labor great rims really great tires thanks again and happy holidays to everyone at laidlaws peace to you
I bought a new Roadster! It wasn't even part of my plan, but did it anyway. It's such a great final iteration on the Sportster... assuming it's about to undergo a big change soon. Oh wait also! ....The gold rims look super sick!
Hi! I love your bike!!! This lady is amazing! Tell me please, i have a roadster and i want to install the same small windshield, but it’s supose that does not fit in this model. Help me please! Thanks!
I like the Cafe rear tail section but what's up with the seat sliding off on the turns lol. I have a 2019 Roadster and not sure about getting the cafe rear end after seeing how lose the seat is on the turns. There's also a gap in between the new seat and the gas tank. It would be cool if you could keep the stock seat and just get the cafe rear fender only.
can you please post the part number or link to the handlebars? I searched nightster handlebars but a bunch of aftermarket options come up and not sure which is the original one. I really like the size of these
Matt Laidlaw thanks for the reply.. I have a 2014 sportster 48.. and I cut the fender struts a few years ago to give it that bobber look. I have no rear fender right now and I cut the fender struts approximately half way and relocated the tail lights to the bolt hole right after the shock. So I have the shock mounts and then one bolt hole left where I mounted my tail lights. Everything after that is gone. But when I seen this video I really dig the design. Well let me know what u think
Didn't watch...but let me guess. That mod hd scrambler is extraordinary. It combines the versatility of off road bike with usual power discharge worthy a streetmonster. Fazit....they don't have nothing to show like triumph..Yamaha n Ducati.
@4.26sec. anyone notice the seat was coming off of the rear tail section!!! even the rider felt a slight loss of control. yikes..... I dont think I would spend the extra$$$ cash for the tail section and seat kit. the seat dont stay put during hard riding/raceing
Glad you noticed that too. I have a 2019 roadster and want the cafe rear tail and seat but I noticed how it moved like that on the turns lol. Also, it looks like there is a small gap in between the seat and the gas tank which I didn't like.
WoodyOn2Wheels It may be a style, but everyone has their own interpretation of that style, and just like the chopper look of the 90s, people will get burned out with this style too , it’s over saturation 👎
HD-FXDR/R9T Racer HD & BMW I don’t know. These classic looks and throwback styles have been hot for awhile now. In the motorcycle industry and car industry.
WoodyOn2Wheels For sure the classic, Old-School look, if done right are Timeless, Heck I have an R9T-Racer keeping my FXDR company. The look of that BMW up close is Amazing. I’m saying, with everyone calling bikes Scramblers, the name gets old and over done too fast. , plus I was never a “ScraMbler” type guy. 🙄
Why did.n't you just get an XR1200X and put some dirt track wheels and tires on it ..and and take it on the mile side ways hehehe ..it already got all your mods and 40 more horse power ..bahaha I laugh every time I pull back the wick on mine ..
Oh by the way matt as I tried tobwarn you ..what has over 150 HP and like 130 foot lbs torque and made by a family relation f Honda's called Mugen ..the samMugen who make all the skunk works Honda Mugen super bikes and dirt bikes ..and now the Honda electric super bikevthst since winning the islandbof man TT in 2016 electric class .with John McGinnis a board last year 2019 a young Rider ran 20 miles per hour faster yet as this bike at averages miles what's the top speed of over 200 does the entire TT on One battery charge that or just twice as fast and goes twice as far A-Z Harley Livewire and don't think Honda won't drop it on the market at a loss they've done it lots of times before they don't have to make a profit on their motorcycles their profit comes from industrial equipment probably didn't know that did you
