I've had Jaggs fan assist cooler on both my touring bikes, 2013 110 cu in and my 2015 120St. never seen over 200 degrees on the highway or 220 in traffic. Both bikes have 5 1/2 qt oil pan and front and rear fan assist cooling directly on the exhaust ports. The anti twist bracket is a must.

TYSM for this. My brother gave me his old one , followed your steps. Made it super easy to install !!

Nice demo. I'd love it if they'd make a kit to fully replace the stock cooler on the M8 softails. Not only for better cooling (and fan assist would be great for traffic standstills in hot weather), for better filtration too since the stock setup routes oil through the cooler first which means thicker cooler oil going through the filter (should be reversed).

Great! love to see you put one on a touring bike with a fan assist for the cooler. the electrical part is what always scares me. thanks.

Did you ever get your oil cooler mounted? Any trouble with power to the fan? Ive got one ordered and am now in the same boat.

@@bigwu100 I got the thunder max oil cooler fan. It was plug and play, but you do have to get a dealership go into your ecu and turn on the power to the plug that is already installed by the factory. It worked really well. Took me 15 minutes to install. Good luck.

@@bigwu100 Don't read to much into it, just received mine and it's a breeze. Accessory plug and they also give you one that goes directly to the battery with a fuse.

I put a jaggs on my new engine rebuild. I did alittle research, jaggs was the oil cooler I found that doesn't bypass the oil filter. alot of other brands bypass the bikes filter. something too research.

Thanks for the video. Would you see a problem, if you attach the oil lines to the adapter first, before installing the adapter to the back plate keeping in mind the orientation of the hose clamps to clear the oil filter. It would be easier to tighten the hose clamps while holding the adapter in your hand. What are your thoughts now that you have gone through the actual install. I'm getting ready to install mine and would really like your comments. Thanks in advance.

Looks like the anti rotation stop would work fine while tightening. From what i can see is it will rotate when taking the filter off for oil change..

how many degrees did the cooler bring down the oil temp. is it worth it.
@donaldcook6997
@donaldcook6997 Год назад
only thing I did diffrent was to attach hoses to plate before mounting to other half then just connect to cooler after install of 2nd half.. to me much easier and able to get lenght to cooler side better and easy to tighten clamps and be sure they did not get in way of oil filter.. BUT that's just me.. if their way works good for you go for it.

There is no reason Harley couldn't include this on a new bike, or make it an option in hot climates like we have here in Florida.

It could be a profit thing or maybe they feel the cons outweigh the pros. Some of the cons that come to mind are more exposure to potential leaks, physical damage by road debris or failure of the thermostat.

@PotatoeJoe69
@PotatoeJoe69 Год назад
All M8's have oil coolers (except the twin cooled bikes). So there's that. But, I agree. Even better, Harley should just use a portion of the frame as the oil cooler. It wouldn't be the first time they've done it; they did it with dirt bikes they built for the military, and Honda also did it with their XR400. It's a smart solution. Doesn't take up extra space, keeps it hidden so there's no eye sore... it's the perfect solution. Harley needs to do it.

Looks like a great install. I’m rebuilding a 90 Heritage, but I’m using a 113 ci Ultima El Bruto and they recommend using an oil cooler. I’ll see if Jagg has a kit that will work. Well done.

Cool but first I would have connected the hoses to the radiator , install radiator 2nd, make final connections to the filter adapter.

You could caution owners to stay away from chrome oil filters as they do not dissipate heat as well as a black filter

If I decide to go with the non-fan assisted oil cooler, but later decide to go with the fan, can it be retrofitted to work with a fan?

Would not road debris be thrown into that filter and eventually cause a leak? Would probably change the fender.

I had a low mount Harley accessory oil cooler and even after thousand of miles and taking the 1/10mi gravel driveway in and out of work every day I never had any more than a paint chip on my oil cooler. Never a bent fin or a leak. And that’s with a street bob with the tiny front fender. I say had, only because I took it off to put a crash bar on my bike. And now I have an “up right” frame mounted Jagg oil cooler.

I bought one With fan for 136.00 plus an adapter. One can get all parts and just rig it yourselves. It ain't rocket science. I may mount mine to the crash bars. You ca use inline switches for fan or bypass valve for oil lines. But anything with Harley stamped on it is gonna be pricey.

Has anyone tried to install this without doing an oil change? I changed my oil MAYBE 500 miles ago and would like to install this without having to buy new oil again already.
@chevyon37s
@chevyon37s Год назад
It can easily be done without changing the oil. The only problem is you’re just going to make a mess removing the filter like you would with an oil change and most people do the install during an oil change because you’re removing the filter anyway. If you can remove the oil filter without damaging it, you can reuse it. Or put in a new filter and don’t forget to add a little more oil to fill up the cooler and what you lost from removing the filter.

Not quite half a quart more with the first oil change. And any oil change where you decide to pop a line off to get the dirty oil out of the cooler as well.

Personal preference really... The low mount one is probably more aesthetically pleasing, but also maybe more likely to get hit by debris coming off the front tire...
