Purchasing a Harley Davidson Sportster means you own it. Customizing a Harley Davidson Sportster means it’s yours. The 883 is a fantastic starter bike, if you can go used - lightly if possible. You will find if you want 'more' in a year you have fantastic options. Either 1200 kit your bike if she's really "yours" or sell/trade for a dyna. Harley really nailed the 'progression of things' with their non bagger lineup.

I'm in the same boat as far as searching for a new bike goes. I went to a few dealers and sat on some bikes, and personally I landed on the Kawasaki Vulcan 750 for my first bike, but this sportster was a close second for me.

I'm not all that into Harley's but these videos make me want a Sportster. Like a 1200 Sport or something. I dig those. I know they're not Big Twins and some Harley snobs will say they're not "real" Harleys, but they're neat little bikes and are quick for what they are.

The best all-round exhaust system for my '93 Sporty, 883, turned out to be the stock exhaust pipe with the crossover, with stock mufflers with baffle's sawed out. Of course it looks stock with a much improved sound. On the street it worked as good as any aftermarket exhaust system out there. I tried it with a pipes without the crossover and gained some on the top end just like a set of straights but without all the noise. I've got a modified 2 into 1 SuperTrapp on it now 'cause I'm trying to get 60HP out of a stock engine. I'm getting close.

I own a 1995 XLH 883 DLX. Running the Vance and Hines original straight shots and had the stage 1 up grade done on air cleaner and carb. Now I am doing a tank mod upgraded to a 1994 FLSTF Fat boy 3.5 gallon split tank I am also thinking of going to a 2 into 1 exhaust system maybe the Bassani road rage 3

When i change my sportser exhaust to the full system exhaust to a V&H shortshots for an example, should i tune my bike or this goes only when i also change the filter to the big sucker intake (Stage1) ? Any harm to the bike if not?

so i guess i didnt catch whether or not the grenades lose power or gain power? does that depend mainly on what air intake system you put on it as well? i really want grenades, another thing i wanted to ask if there is an attachment for back pegs using this system? i love the sound of the grenades! and nobody really has them

With proper fueling, the Grenades can gain power. Adding an air cleaner can help that as well. As for passenger pegs, installing the Grenades requires removing any passenger foot pegs. Right now, you cannot use passenger pegs with the Grenades. -DrewZilla

If you're installing slip-ons, no, you do not need anything except the slip-ons. If you've installed an aftermarket air cleaner, though, adding a slip-on would require you getting a fuel controller such as the FuelPak FP3. -DrewZilla

I have a 2007 fuel injected sportster 1200 custom. If I put slip ons on my bike do i have to change the intake? And or have it tuned?

No, you don't have to change the intake. In fact, if you changed the intake, you would have to retune the bike. If you install slip-ons but keep the stock intake, you don't need to retune your bike. -DrewZilla

I like that Two Brothers exhaust but, looking at your video, it seems like the lower pipe will scrape when you lean in a corner. You mentioned ground clearance, but that pipe looks hanging low.

I have a new 2019 and live in California so this thing is as quiet as a library. I wanna remove the baffles strictly to make the bike louder. Loud pipes save lives! So what would you recommend for me?

All exhausts will be louder than the stock exhaust. If you go with a full exhaust, you will also need to buy a fuel tuner to adjust the air fuel ratio. If you just buy slip-ons, you won't need a fuel tuner. Yes, with a full exhaust, you'll need a fuel tuner. Without one, the motor will run lean, which means you aren't gaining HP. -DrewZilla

lemmy my friend just bought a second hand sportster its a great bike but the clutch sling just broke down when rolling yesterday night, i don't get why but that's what happen does the sling could swaped with any hd sling, does it plug and play? and i just noticed that the front fork is like totaly soft, does it happen because from rebound setup or fork oil? sorry for my english, I'm come from Indonesia which hd just like leaving from here which makes it hard to find the sparepart thx in advance

The Sportster clutch springs are specific to the Sportster, so you cannot swap the spring with a different HD model. It's unlikely that the spring is broken though. You probably just need to adjust the clutch. Luckily, we have a video for that (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l7uur4HNvoE.html). For the forks, you either need to replace the fork oil or even rebuild the fork tubes with new fork springs. If you cannot get new fork springs, you can try replacing just the stock 10W fork oil with heavier 15W fork oil. This would likely help with rebound damping. Hi Lemmy. I would like to ask if I replace my stock exhaust to V&H shorts shots, I would replace my air cleaner as well? or just install V&H FP3 . coz, some suggest that if I replace my exhaust I have to replace my air cleaner and install Fuel Pack. thanks

If you go for the Shortshots, you don't _need_ to replace the air cleaner, but you do need the FP3. If you can afford to replace the air cleaner, it can help. You can always replace the air cleaner at a later date and just load an updated map with the FP3. -DrewZilla

As Lemmy mentions in the beginning, there really aren't any "best" slip-ons, because a lot of it comes down to your personal taste. You should get what appeals to you, not what might appeal to Lemmy aesthetically. What does "best" mean to you? dear Lemmy not sure where to ask you hope here is OK I recently have seen a lot of people riding Honda 750 s as a starter bike or fun bike and I have seen numerous videos on Harley 1200 Sportster's I was wondering would a 1200 Harley engine fit into a vt750 Honda Shadow I hate how small the frame is on a Sportster and my Honda needs some American power but even the 750 engine maxes out is no match for a 1200cc engine and Harley's are very small on a lot of there models

The Sportster's motor is not a swap for a Shadow frame. If you want a Shadow with a bigger motor, why don't you swap your bike for a Shadow/Sabre 1100? -DrewZilla

Do you mean Two Brothers? TC Bros is a different company that sells exhaust tubing for custom builders to make custom exhausts. If you mean Two Brothers, then yes, that exhaust is slightly louder than the HD Screamin' Eagle. -DrewZilla

No, if you're just installing slip-ons and keeping your stock headers and stock air cleaner, you do not need a fuel tuner. If you later decide to change your headers or air cleaner, then you'll want a fuel tuner. -DrewZilla
