Please don't waste your money. Cheap 5.1s are all miserably useless, and this one is just a nice furniture, nothing more. It's phisically impossible to get a decent sound-quality out of this construction.

+Retro Element They are not loud enough or powerful enough for a party that involves really partying and they are too directional as demonstrated by laying them flat to achieve good enough room filing sound quality at a dinner party. There is nothing confusing about the review - it demonstrates they are great computer speakers in both function & design which is what they are designed too be and that there are far better available speakers from both H&K or other manufacturers for other applications like parties or home cinema. And there is absolutely no hiss from the speakers at any volume unless your input device produces one.

ROBERTS LONDON The movement and flexibility is for tilting the speakers to enhance sound and for aesthetic reasons. The are not intended to be used flat...unless you intend to be hovering facing the speakers. Its a no brainier, coz you can tell from looking at the design how they are meant to be used. Most speakers are DESIGNED upright for a reason. Sound waves travel in given direction until the hit something. So pointing them upwards and expecting them to produce the same quality sound is very unrealistic and not logical. As for the hissing I am being very pedantic. But I do have very sharp hearing and all my music is from the apple store so I doubt its got anything to do with the quality of audio files. The hissing is definitely present from my iMac, laptop, ipad and iphone at a low volume. Ps. Its the same music from the same cloud. As I alluded to earlier...Harman and Kardon sound sticks are brilliant especially if you haven't used them previously.

+Retro Element At no point do I suggest the speakers should be used pointing to the ceiling, I do it to demonstrate the opposite and their directional design. Your now telling me I shouldn't point them at the ceiling because they are directional - I pointed them at the ceiling to demonstrate exactly that? Your now telling me exactly what I just told you in the video? LOL There are many different speaker applications and designs, you could do a similar demonstration with the H&K Aura model to demonstrate the opposite and its omni directional design compared to the soundsticks. There should be no hissing from the speaker, if there is and you are sure its not your devices sound card etc , cables or your audio files then you should return the speaker for repair or exchange.

Review has too much history stuff :P Even though these are designed as computer speakers they actually do a better job than some very poorly made home systems. These gorgeous babies 😍 😍 😍 are so wonderful to listen to, the best speakers we have owned. Very loud and clear without annoying distortions. We have it in the living room as we don't have a study area and use it for everything from music, gaming, watching movies and when we have friends round. Watched a few reviews before buying and was slightly cautious...but there was no need to be. Best £180 spent. Only cons, wish the cables were longer and it had a remote as standard. But we do have a remote now. If you are tempted by this then buy direct from harman&kardon.

Ive had mine literally forever. since we got our first Mac in the early 2000s it's possible they are even the stick iis. used them all the time and still use them in 2023. never had to fix anything at all. still work like new.

HI! +Thomas B They are computer speakers - Harman & Karman have better speakers for filling a room, check their website for help with their range specs that best suit

I suggest the Logitech x50 or x100 bluetooth speaker quite good for filling up a room :)

+Mason Davies I now own these and can say that i've never had the opportunity to play at full volume because they shake the rooms upstairs and downstairs in my student house. they can fill a big living room at half volume. They will fill a house at full volume
