For what it's worth; bought one myself a week ago. Had exactly the same whistle as mentioned in the video. Turns out that, at least in my case, this only happens if the power-on-mode switch is set to 'Auto' when switching the unit on initially. No issues if set to 'Normal' so I'm fine. Hope this helps...

Hey thank you for the solution. I kinda solved it too but differently. It happens every time I use my sub, I turn it off and the back on. To to not have this problem after I turn the sub off, I need to wait maybe 10 minutes before turning it back on. So I think the "Power Mode On" feature is not the one to blame, it goes deeper : it is just turning off and on quickly that triggers the whisteling sound.

My HKTS 210 sub started doing this about 2 weeks ago. It's about 3 years old now. I found this on internet, so I can't take credit for it. Open in chrome and do a translate to english. I implemented this fix and it fixed this problem. I was having the exact same problem. legacy.thomas-leister.de/harman-kardon-hkts-210-subwoofer-pfeift/

Thank you for sharing. I do not feel comfortable enough with electronics to open my sub. But I kinda solved it. It happens every time I use my sub, I turn it off and the back on. going to test it as well as mine drives me crazy. I've replaced all PSU caps expecting that it might not filter some of the frequencies but still the same issue. From what I can see, the same could be done on the PSU side as the pins that you ground are right on the connector. I am still trying to determine why does this really matter as the 7V are being "smoothen out" by two electrolytic caps before the connector and also, after them. Not to mention that the -7V and +7V goes through a ferrite bead. Update: by putting two 320 Ohm resistors sub no longer works. Seems that the voltage drop is too high and there is no enough voltage to power up the logic/amp board. I desolder the resistors and sub works back as before.

This product solved that problem for me: APC PM5-GR Filter the line noise (EMI/RFI) from 100 kHz to 10 MHz (40 dB)

Check if your system is set to the right voltage setting for your country.

Any news on this?Just got this set and have this problem. Setting power on mode to ON is not ok for me, I don't want the sub to be always on. Also, switching it off and back on to make the whine go away is also not a solution .....

I had the same noise and I brought mine to the service. They have found an issue with the power supply scheme. Once repaired, the noise was gone.

Probably the outlet: the polarity of your wires are inverted. Try another outlet to check.

It is not shown in the video but I tried it dans it did not change anything unfortunatly. But I kinda solved it. It happens every time I use my sub, I turn it off and the back on. To to not have this problem after I turn the sub off, I need to wait maybe 10 minutes before turning it back on. That means I can not use the "Power On Mode" feature. But plugging my sub cable the the LFE entry or the Normal entry does not change the problem on my side. :)

hi, this doesn't help you, but I have the exact same problem, with the same sub. Also bought in the beginning of september. I send Harman an email (bought it at the webshop (netherlands)), and I am waiting on their reaction. Do you already have any idea, what the problem is?

And I have not done that because I am lazy and I do not want to uninstall my sound system in my living room. :)

I have exactly the same problem. It occurs only if the LFE is on. When I switch it to NORMAL whistling sound disappears. I used to switch the main switch off and on again immediately when the whistling disappears and it helps. But of course this is not a solution.

Is there a solution to the problem? Did Harman reply to the email? I bought such a set today - also from the Dutch Webshop, I would not be happy if it was wrong ... Van megoldás a problémára? Harman válaszolt az emailre? Én ma vettem egy ilyen szettet - szintén a holland Webshopból, nem lennék boldog, ha az is hibás lenne...
