Striking coincidence Brian. I 've been working on diads, triads and sixths for past two weeks and at 3.30 am this morning, enjoying my caffeine kick and, lo and behold, this lesson pops up! Set my guitar on it's stand and was totally immersed. Profoundly grateful as always Brian. You outdo yourself each time demonstrating that ' simplicity is the ultimate sophistication'. Once again THANK YOU BRIAN.

Hey Brian, even though I have been using triads for a long time, I have now been finding a great new approach to improvising with them from your series. I've had a few people I jam with notice a difference, so that has been rewarding , as well as more fun. Will stay tuned in !

Long time premium member so glad to have these lessons. The more you reference the actual intervals related to the major scale the more useful the lessons become! Thanks Brian.

I'm an Active Melody subscriber for some years now who has been generally lazy about going to RU-vid to thumbs up his videos but I thought it was time to show some love and respect here. There are times you just want to learn songs and that is good but not what this site is about. Here, you will learn about the styles and thoughts and techniques of your favorite styles and artists so that with some thought, practice, and exploring on your own you can expand your knowledge of what's going on. Your given keys and insight to explore on your own, improvise, and begin making YOUR music. This is helping me break out of my being a memorizer copier of songs - which I will always do to some extent - to feeling more like a musician ...... Thanx Brian - the journey continues.

Awesome lesson series Brian. Tying the triads, harmonized 3rds and 6ths back to chord shapes was a lightbulb moment for me. It is so much easier to visualize parts of the chord shapes then trying to memorize a new shape.

That intro reminds me of the lead guitarist in a country band I played in back in the early 1970's. He played mostly two and three notes leads using a Fender Jaguar and a leaned-back Fender Twin Reverb. He would even bend strings, while playing the two or three notes, mimicking a steel guitar. Good memories!!!

Love how you have been building on the triads over the last many weeks. Lots of light bulbs. I’ve been a member for about 1.5 years and if these lessons speak to you throw brian some money it only costs the price of an hour lesson and you will get so much more.

I really feel that an added benefit of this lesson is the importance of using upstrokes. Since I started playing I seem to play everything with downstrokes. Using triads are definitely making it easier to work out the benefits of using downstrokes. Well for me anyway

When using harmonised thirds to play melodies, is the melody carried on the high harmony (3rd) string or on the lower (scale note) string.
