This is my favourite of the three dance styles: reel, jog, and hornpipe. The slightly swaying and tipsy rhythms are enchanting. Well done for getting this just right.

When I first started playing in 1966 I don't remember ever hearing Irish folk music - but wish I had as it would have been a wonderful influence. Instead, American folk caught my ear and influenced my playing style. It was in the 90's I first heard El McMeen and other DADGAD / alt tuning players whose style struck a chord in me. Never did venture far from basic fingerstyle patterns in standard tuning as I turned to writing my own stuff and the guitar only needed to be good enough to carry my singing. Nearly 60 years later, it's still heart-felt acoustic fingerstyle guitar music that is a comfort to my heart. Thank you Lindsay - that was truly lovely. I've subbed and I'm off to explore the rest of your tunes. Glad YT posted you up in my feed! Jack in Sequim

Really lovely, precise but soulful playing. I actually happened on your channel as I just picked up my guitar to play (or try to) John Renbourn's arrangement of The South Wind, which I learnt many years back...and your version was in the results ! Glad I listened, and now subbed. Thank you. I will have a listen to some more of your Irish trad videos for sure. By the way, someone mentioned the great El McMeen in the comments, and I would recommend his album Irish Guitar Encores if you can find it. Still my favourite album of Celtic music arranged for guitar. I recorded a few of my renditions on my channel years ago, but you should easily find pro renditions and a lot of them on his own channel here. Thanks for the lovely renditions.
