What happens in our brain and body when we experience performance anxiety? What are we doing differently when everything clicks into place? Sian L. Beilock will explain the fascinating interconnections between the mind and body and show how mastering them can make us happier, safer, and more successful.
Sian L. Beilock is a professor of psychology, a member of the Committee on Education, and vice provost for academic initiatives at the University of Chicago. An expert on the brain science behind “choking under pressure,” Beilock has received support from the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education. Her critically acclaimed book Choke: What the Secrets of the Brain Reveal About Getting It Right When You Have To was published in 2010; and her new book, How the Body Knows Its Mind: The Surprising Power of the Physical Environment to Influence How You Think and Feel, was published in January 2015.

29:50 Sure, but the study doesn't say anything about nature or downtown per se. It just says that students do better when having walked in nature THAN when downtown. Could be that downtown has a negative effect on attentional ability and that nature has no significantly positive effect. :)
