Definitely triggered by Star Wars. He’ll go as far as up until that moment the guy probably liked you a little. You talked about things he likes like dogs and things other than Star Wars. In his head I can just hear him saying “ Oh, Jesus Christ, here we go again. Ugh, that’s his favorite line of all movies ever?!”
@@JachAnen It's really not. He just hates the overly "HEY!!"ness of US TV and media. He's much brighter whenever he comes to the UK cos everyone's as sarcastic and dry as he is. Look up some press he does in the UK, I think you'd be massively surprised at how differently he acts.
It was a massive waste not to have them on screen together again.. but I guess this new trilogy is supposed to be about the new "characters" blah blah blah!
@@ohio Alec Guinness only disliked Star Wars once people forgot that he was in tons of other stuff. I don't think Harrison Ford has ever disliked Star Wars. He's always said that Star Wars is what allowed him to finally have steady work as an actor. But he will always enjoy Indiana Jones more because he is "the" star of that franchise. And despite the injuries he's sustained making the films, they were fun to make. I think it's more accurate to say that he just never felt the same connection to Star Wars that others did, and just relates to Indy more. I mean, I remember him in 2008 having a ball promoting Crystal Skull. He even went out and bought some of the toys and merchandise that they did for the film, and seemed thrilled that he was getting a new hat, too....since the originals were in the Smithsonian and the original designer had retired, they had to enlist a new guy. He just loves this character. He probably never felt the same connection to Han Solo.
caomhan84 So in other words, his fucking huge ego about having his name first in the credits is why he like Indy more?!? What an ungrateful son of a bitch! When Indy 5 comes out I won’t be going anywhere near it!
@@kotobukiya70 ungrateful sonbof a bitch? Nah. Just a guy very grateful for Star Wars to be the transition to being a steady working actor. He's always said that. He's just never loved it. And that's okay. Considering he was never meant to be in Indiana Jones in the first place, but luck meant that he was, and it made him a huge star....I don't blame him. Sometimes you just enjoy certain things more than others. What's wrong with that?
@@ohio "It's ironic that the people who actually make the movies couldn't care less about the movies they are in." I don't think that is ironic at all. It's just a matter of perspective. Beina passsive recipent, the audience, a fan, of movies is a completely different experience than working on them. Watching a movie takes two hours. Shooting a 2 minute scene can take half a week. And then you move on. You concentrate on your next project. That is something that many fans simply don't seem to grasp.
@@kotobukiya70 Calm the actual fuck down. He just likes Indy more than Han Solo as a character. Sure the fact that the paycheck was bigger is probably another reason he enjoyed it more but most actors would prefer the role with the bigger paycheck. It's nothing about their ego. It's their job. Get a life and stop stressing over movies.
He always is the same in interviews, just sometimes he is fooling around more... That doesn't mean he's uncomfortable, but like under every comment section, someone like you has the urge to tell some bullshit gossip about the interviewer (or even say he's better than all others more times than not..), since your brain is just no use.
I always like how Harrison is this "l just do this for a living, I don't see why people like me so much" kinda guy. There's a certain genuine innocence there that's rare these days.
we like him because he plays such great characters and he is seems like if you don't talk about star wars with him that he would be cool to hang out with.
Oh as if Disney cares about story details or as if Lucasfilm had any responsability about this...their last scene together is the ROTJ celebration...I'd say that's a pretty good final scene for two characters to have together
@@TheShark447 Lucas couldn't let go of 3PO and R2D2 in the prequels after the success of the originals, it's delusional to think he wouldn't have integrated the og three in the sequels, would have he made them Also they didn't bastardize them, the character that *Lucasfilm* (not Disney!) failed in TROS are the new ones, like Kylo: Han served its purpose well, Luke got a great arc and Leia...well she should have had a bigger role in TROS, but it's not like she was bad in TFA and TLJ
simonegreco Luke great arc? My man you’re delusional. The only person with great arc was Kylo Ren and it was just Ok. Sadly they failed all the movies. They should have done something new like a dark side oriented movie.
Coolthief so was Kylo’s arc great or just ok? Lol Also it’s not delusion, I just know how arcs work: for a Positive (Change) Arc the character needs to start off wrong You know that, right?
That answer is Keanu Reeves level of wholesomeness. Mark has always seen Harrison as the cool guy, but him saying that he learned his coolness from Mark was really touching.
the thought that harrison ford learned how to be cool because of mark hamill is so heartwarming 🥺 it’s so easy to imagine young vibrant sunshine child mark coming up to harrison talking a mile a minute while looking up at him with stars in his eyes! and then beside them, carrie’s there, rolling her eyes at her boys’ antics!
Harrison Ford is the definition of cool. You can just see Mark Hamel tell his grandkids, there was once a guy named Harrison Ford, coolest guy on the set,
Harrison Ford always seems to light up whenever he talks about playing Indy.. Han Solo, not so much lol. But one thing I can always say about Harrison is that he's a damn great actor and a consummate professional in his craft with an understanding that this is his job and he gets paid a lot of money to do it well. Going into The Force Awakens and knowing how indifferent Ford is about the character, all I wanted was for him to go out there and make me believe that he's Han Solo again and not Harrison Ford going through the motions and mailing in a big payday like I've seen certain other actors do in high profile roles , and he did just that. He sold me on the character 100% and I have that much more respect for him for respecting the craft and at least acknowledging how important it was to the fans through his performance. A great talent and a pro at what he does.
@Jim Notor There's alot in what I said that indicates that he's a good actor and a pro that doesn't mail in performances, there's nothing that indicates that I'm referring to him as anything more than that.
He definitely loves Star Wars, he just is asked about it more than he’d like. In the Star Wars press tours he was always happy to talk about Star Wars and he even came back for Rise of Skywalker and gave what I’d argue was one of the standout performances of that movie. Indie isn’t brought up quite as much and I think he appreciates the break from Star Wars.
Nicolas Bsst and if I’m not wrong... he’s already talked about the things he said in this video before in the past I love Star Wars but I don’t understand why every person that sees Harrison Ford feels the need to harass him about Star Wars, especially when he has publicly stated that he dislikes Star Wars.
@@thepaultato3243 You are right. If I'm bored of the interviewer asking about Star Wars, imagine Harrison... And Harrison is way more than just Han Solo...he did a lot of good movies. (My favourite still be Blade Runner...)
'I know' was perfect - throughout the whole movie Han was trying to make Leia confess that she's likes him, so when she says that out loud, his only response can be "I know'. If he said 'I knew it!' - that would lead to a bad laugh, but the final 'I know', especially in Harrison's delivery, made it great.
@@MisterFoxx yes - that never was an option. Ford said he was afraid that "I know' may cause cheap laughs - that's why I said that a phrase like 'I knew it' would've caused cheap laugh, but 'I know' sounds great.
@@MisterFoxx the original line was "Don't worry, I'll be back, Leia!" and harrison said this wasn't good enough han doesn't know he'll be back, and the director was like but it has to be said, but H convinced him otherwise.
Initially, I gave this a thumbs down, because I thought the interviewer came across as boring to Harrison. I was just about to switch to another video, then out popped the "I have a rescue dog..." line of questioning. You got him. You pulled him into the interview. I don't know if he was tired, or initially thought the interviewer was not good at what he does, but you got him. Good job both to the interviewer and to Harrison for giving him a chance. Nice interview and awesome questions.
I half expected him to make a playful jab at Mark and say "I met Mark Hamill and knew that if I was the opposite of Mark Hamill I'd be cool" or something of that nature but with Harrison's signature twist... lol
I would be nervous to interview Harrison Ford. Even though he’s such a funny sarcastic person, they way he carries himself is a little intimidating. Legend!
Amazing an original interview :) Of course someone so jaded about humans would love how pure dog love is. I had no clue he was so into rescue dogs, as I am (both my puppies rescued me too). Great guy and interview, congrats to the host.
lordSeaworth he’s WAY too hyper especially for someone like Harrison... if you’re talking to or interviewing a more energetic or happy person it’s ok to be more peppy or energetic, but Harrison is generally a more calm and collected person and just always has a “I don’t really care I don’t wanna be here” look... I wish they would find a better interviewer...
No hes clearly shit and utterly annoying and got shit answers. Did you not notice Harrison rubbing his head and looking generally uncomfortable? Ok you didnt...
Unless I’m mistaken, while Harrison has had his long list of grievances with Star Wars publicly for years, to the best of my knowledge, those problems never involved any of his coworkers. Even with George Lucas I don’t think he’s ever really badmouthed him aside from correctly pointing out that writing is not Lucas’ strongest suit. I just feel like Harrison is more reserved and keeps his cards close to his chest while Mark and Carrie are and were more about putting themselves out there. I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but Harrison did genuinely seem to light up when he heard Mark had “sent in” a question and I that’s very telling.
When he talks about rescue dogs maaan. We've always had rescue dogs. And giving them a home, is the best and they'll love you eternally for it. Dogs are awesome.
It's a shame that Harrison Ford didn't learn from Mark Hamill how to be a friend of the Star Wars fans. Whether he likes that movie trilogy or not, it gave him most of the fame he currently has by opening doors. I know the story of that iconic line, but several generations in the past 40 years don't. So Harrison could have told the real story rather than looking bothered and irritated by being asked yet again. Mark Hamill has told the same stories a gazillion times and he ALWAYS does with energy because he knows this is likely the first time SOMEONE has heard the story.
I can understand why he is so fucking sick of SW. It's because SW fans are the most annoying fans out there. And if you have to deal 40 years with all of these manchilds pretending to be Jedis or some childish shit like that, you eventually get sick of it.
I wish interviewers would give him more creative questions. He must have answered the "I Know" question hundreds of times. We are on a timer here folks!
Skyhunter I heard he liked Han in episode IV & V, but not in episode VI. George didn’t really expand his character, Han was just there in the film & most of his lines weren’t that great. Harrison ford believed Han’s character should’ve ended at episode V, but Mark Hamill also really wanted Harrison ford to work in Episode VI, which is why Han’s kind of just crammed in the story
My favorite Hamill/Ford interaction was when they were recording "A new hope". And Mark said something about him feeling that things were going well with the dialogue. And Harrison leans in and says "Relax kid, this ain't that kind of a movie" Or something to that effect.
Great story... actually it was in the scene when they were getting crushed in the garbage bin and of course there was all the gunky water when he got pulled down into it. In edit, Mark Hamill as Luke, turned and was worried about the continuity that if he’s coming out of that mess in the next scene his hair should be wet and all filled with gunk, and that’s when Ford said his famous line in his trademark dead pan voice “ Relax kid it’s not that kind of movie” cool you like that line too!
That would definitely be a funny line BUT... pardon the uber nerd 🤓 in me.... Han would never actually fight with a light saber. Only Jedi’s use them for combat.
I feel like Harrison really hates being popular and famous, it seems like every time I seem him in one of these interviews he keeps looking around hoping for a quick exit. I mean I can't blame him, all of his interviewers seem really excitable and passionate whereas Harrison's just a no nonsense, quiet kind of guy.
I had the rare chance to spend the day with him in December 2017. The problem is, he doesn't hate being popular. He thinks he ISN'T popular. He specifically said that he thinks that he's old and no one cares about him anymore. He even called himself a D list celebrity that the paparazzi could care less about. It was a little depressing, but that's the truth.
In The Last Crusade, young Indiana Jones (played by River Phoenix) gets that scar when he cracks a whip for the first time. Pretty cool that Spielberg actually wrote that into the script trying to explain the story behind it.
He pretty much has been since 1980. He only agreed to come back for ROTJ if they killed Han off, Lucas refused despite it being in early scripts. Ford held a grudge over this for a while. He only came back for TFA to finally see Han killed off. Ford though was 100% right. Han dying in ROTJ would've made it better but Lucas had toys to sell as Ford said and Lucas said the good guys can't die, it's a fairytale.
[Talking about Star Wars] "And George, George was afraid... George Lucas... the producer of the film, was afraid" lmfao The way he speaks like if people don't know which George he is referring to.
I don't understand his dislike of Han Solo yet he loves Indy. I think they are actually similar characters, aside from the fact that both are played by Ford.
@Degree7 That's kinda selfish on his part tbh. Still my favorite character tho. I don't count the Disney abominations to be Canon anyway. Just a bad dream.
Aw man, Harrison Ford is cool, he was my childhood hero, well mainly because he played Indiana Jones & Han Solo which were some of my childhood favourite movie characters.
Interviewer .... my fav film empire strikes back Harrison .....( makes his eyes thinggy ) here we go again , you guys know its not the only franchise film that im in right ?
i would love to see Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams all narrate books. I could listen to all of them talk all night long (and RIP Alan Rickman also)
when Indy was young and wanted to explore with his father, he found a whip and went to swing the whip out.. and it caught his chin.. that may have been part 2 or 3.. that was the excuse of his scar on the chin...
