Why can't people tell Ford is actually having fun?! He has such a dry sense of humour. Yes, he hates interviews, but he also loves playing up to that image as well. Thought it was a great interview...
It`s beauty of having the power and influence of Ford isn`t it. We don`t actually know if he is having fun or condescending, but because of who he is, can get away with it.
British talkshows seem to compliment Harrison's sense of humor much better than American ones, or is it just me? Both this and his Graham Norton appearances are just pure gold.
That’s because over here on this side of the Atlantic, Irish and British people are very comfortable with and very much enjoy a self deprecating and sarcastic humour that most Americans just seem not to understand.
I've watched Harrison Ford on the Graham Norton show a few times in the past and I can say that he has definitely kept his sense of humor. He is funny to watch.
@@paulspelly7337 you are mistaken , search Jimny Kimmel " I am fuckin Ben Affleck " Harrison agreed to be in the joke video and he is the video with this same dry humour
Common sense and context/language are lost on far too many people now. Harrison is brilliant here. Great sense of humour. If people don't get him, it's their loss.
I think you are completely wrong and your being optimistic, he was nervous as hell especially with David no one could possibly act like that and be joking ! his facial expressions give it away and if you don't see THAT then your fooling yourself and I wouldn't like to be a mate of yours at a comedy gig!
My family and I used to live in Venice Beach. One morning I found myself standing behind Harrison in a queue for coffee at Whole Foods. I didn’t say anything but I got a smile.
He literally acts like this in all his interviews, especially if he is with someone who he can focus his comedy on. You should check out his interviews along side Ryan Gosling.
Famous Hollywood actors always seem bemused why people think actors are so important, or why people don't understand acting is pretending to be somebody else.
Harrison Ford is genuinely acknowledging and thanking Jamie for his efforts to shed light on US school meals and culture of what real food is. Awesome.
My father, Norman Thor Hofstrom, acted with Harrison Ford in "Night of the Iguana" at Belfry Theater in Williams Bay, WI in August 1964, two weeks before I was born. I remember when we went to our first and original Star Wars movie when dad saw him as Hans Solo on the movie screen. He has some photos of days back then at Belfry Theatre.
OMG how did I miss this interview until now? Essential viewing for any Ford fan. Which I think means essential viewing for everyone!! Soooooo funny!!!!
Yeah that’s as rare as a European who isn’t extremely arrogant, snooty, self righteous and obnoxious. Particularly with the French and English that’s extremely rare.
@@imagineso2241 He was a an imperial cadet i think and then left the empire to become a smugler. I think this is why he dropped his cargo when he ran into the empire just before episode four. This then started his trouble with Jabba.
reminds me of a friend of mine who, after "Back staging" Queen for years with no luck, finally got to meet his idol Freddie Mercury and ask for his autograph. Freddie said "dont bother me with such trivialities"
@@ExtremePainGames and thats the exact phrase he used to my friend 40 years ago. I dont have to make shit up or troll to get noticed. The truth will do. Mabe he made it up, but something made him smash his queen LPs.
Yeah I hate people who are successful too. Bastards, going in TV, selling millions of children's books. That could have been me if I wasn't such an unlikable obnoxious twat. I'm good at sniping on RU-vid though. I sit here in the comments spewing bile at anyone who'll listen. That makes me feel like I'm interacting with the world and stops me having to spend so much time with the hateful voices in my own head. 👍
@@endoflevelboss David isn't exactly blessed with spontaneous wit, Matt Lucas is far far funnier in that regard. I don't think of David as a comedian, more a comic actor (and now author). I do think your reaction to the OP's comment is a bit over the top.
Always entertaining to see naive commenters who think that a seasoned professional like Harrison Ford wouldn't be doing everything here for show and entertainment. Grumpy old sod is his talk-show schtick, and everyone involved is in on it.

I'm going to swim against the tide and say that I actually think Harrison couldn't get far enough away from David. He probably has people fawning over him all the time and just wanted personal space. Chewbacca with a bald spot was hilarious and so is Harrison who is STILL handsome.
He’s fucking brilliant, his argument with chewy was superb, forget what talk show it was now. Also when he tilde David Blaine to get the fuck out of his house was class
@@abdulmumin6251 she said a b’day’ not the birth year dumbass, she was a child when she met him and he owned property in Oz so one would assume that he was a bit older than her 🤪
Hahaha Harrison has gone way up in my estimations after watching a previous episode years ago. go you mister ... you're still a year older than my dad but i still love you :)

@@davman115 Because at the time he had a campaign to improve the appalling standard of school meals both sides of the Atlantic and that’s why Harrison acknowledged him by saying “I admire what you’re doing, I really admire what you’re doing, we’re grateful.” Jamie is using his talents and celebrity to do good, why shouldn’t he be on the show?
Jamie has an uncomfortable constipated look on his face all through this, I recon he had been sneaking a few Turkey Twizzlers in his dressing room before the show.
Harrison Ford makes Ernie Wise look like Norman Wisdom when it comes to straight men. There’s dry, parched and the Harrison Ford. He’s a great actor, been in some fabulous movies, but I think he’s had a personality bypass.
He is. He can be very over the top and in your face. Always wants the attention. So many funny moments have been ruined by him jumping in to take the lime light
This interview was 6 years ago. Big difference between being just over 70 or approaching 80. Politicians (esp those who don't spend all their time playing golf) also have a way more stressful job than actors.
Harrison went to my high school and he actually hated high school because he got bullied alot mostly because he was in drama class. But I agree with Harrison bc I also hate my high school.
Harrison is a hoot on these British talk shows. As for David Walliams, I liked him immensely in Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime. A Tommy & Tuppence mini series that was quite good.
I'm surprised nobody is talking about Harrison Ford's clear dislike for David, which may be in response to to the controversies surrounding him--Especially with the "Hide the Sausage" skit. He applauded the other gentleman and showed his gratitude. The same cannot be said for Walliams because he proved himself unworthy of even an autograph from one of his childhood stars. When Walliams wanted to sit next to Harrison he immediately wanted to get away. Walliams knows how to make a person feel uncomfortable
i once went to the premiere of cowboys & aliens in london, and there were two very stand out moments from the night. the first, walking along the red carpet with harrison ford and daniel craig, it massively stood out how tall harrison is and how short daniel is, both totally cool but very different builds, and it struck me that daniel seemed to avoid getting too close to him during photo ops etc. it made me smile a little wondering if he felt a bit 'too' short... later on the director, jon favreau, was introducing the movie to the theatre audience and we were all getting excited (i know it ain't the best movie, that's not the point!). he asked for harrison and daniel to get up on stage in front of the big screen and say a few words. harrison was super dry and difficult to get too much out of, and daniel was coy and laconic as ever too. but then it happened... harrison somehow noticed daniel's show lace was undone, and in front of the whole crowd he said something like "man, you've got to tie up your shoelaces better...let me show you" and then knelt down to actually tie them back up, maybe in a sort of fatherly, 'i'm more adult than you' kinda way. but then, with him on his knees, daniel saw his opportunity and, totally casually, JAMES BOND looked to the audience with a wink and a grin and said quietly to INDIANA JONES... "while you're down there...!" i can't tell you how much the audience erupted into fits of laughter. harrison laughed and was totally cool, giggling with daniel. it was a great moment in a great night. so yeah, harrison is dry but he's cool too
@@richie3602 i wish there was a video of that! that sounds hilarious and awesome! thank goodness he doesn't take himself to seriously. we got enough overly serious people out here.
Imagine: a Yank taking the piss outta the very people who invented it. I love Walliams, and methinks Ford would, as well. Damien was the star in that line-up (and I’m a Yank).
@@imemine6494 lol what is your source? Here's a quote from David a mere day after the interview: "I met one of my idols last night. I had pictures of Harrison Ford on my bedroom wall as a child. He is an absolute gentleman. Now I am even more of a fan #legend"

I love Star Wars, I love all of it, but I usually don’t enjoy Harrison’s interviews (I’m sorry!), this was FABULOUS though. I have a new appreciation now.
I wonder how much of the interactions between Ford and Williams was played for laughs or was actually genuine from Ford. Because it felt really awkward.
