Bruh I remember when it went down i was in grade 8. At 1 the sky was so clear like not a cloud in sight but then at 2 the sky was red as if there was an apocalypse. Literally I came out of school to see abason burning. I’m kinda glad that we had to evacuate cause I didn’t study, Would have failed 😭. The sad part was the girl who died that day I saw her entering my class the day before.

That so many people escaped without harm is a testament to the heroism of the first responders. But , also to the evacuees themselves. It takes courage and a level head, many level heads, to go through something like that and still maintain your wits. They are all heroes in my mind.

I still can't believe this was 5 years ago.The houses I grew up in, burnt down, and my dad had to evacuate work. He sent me a video of the 50 ft flames on both sides of the highway, and my grandparents left because the house they had purchased in waterways was gone. Fire doesn't care, but people do.

I used to live in a small town called Bethany. It was a thriving community with rail sidings and 4 story hotels for the guests and summer help on the farms. The town burned twice as anyone who read the book The Rolling Hills of Manvers by Emily Car. When i lived there the rail sidings caught fire twice and the whole town showed up to put it out. We built back fires, that's where you burn the vegetation ahead of the fire. In fort MacMurray if they had set fire to the vegetation on the highway they could have stopped or slowed the fire. Don't the new breed of people know this trick , I do its the first time an adult gave me a package of matches and told me to intentionally light a fire. So the fire burns toward the wind and you maintain it so it to dose not be a problem. The fire burns into the wind until it meets the fire and simply goes out for the lack of fuel. WTF were these cowboys thinking I don't know
@TaylorYetto-mc2qc
@TaylorYetto-mc2qc Год назад
Controlled burns is what you’re referring to and they do do them all over these two countries. Canada and US. But I kinda figured everyone has common sense to realize there’s a LOT of forests and it takes a long long long time to get to them all and then by then you’re starting back over at the very first one again. It’s never ending circle.

This is awful, terrible thinking how this is happening...And, despite many years of destruction, nobody will dare to speak up and tell that this town shelters thousands of people like the one being interviewed that has contributed to the destruction of the largest area of Boreal forest in history, turned into an apocalyptic landscape forever... This might be karma I would say and is very unfortunate but we have to face that nature is claiming a payback...

+Pehr Hedstrom Oh no, you are getting me wrong all the way. I totally am with you defining what the evangelists said about Katrina as an absolute nonsense, but listen to what is happening in the media and re-read my words, my statement works from a perspective of moral disobedience, we, the human race are playing a foul game against nature,against earth and against ourselves, and that my dear friend, has a cost and has nothing to do with religion. I am an atheist-agnostic sort of guy. and believe me, I live in a 55K people city in Manitoba and when I heard about the possibility of Fort McMurray being obliterated by the fire, I deeply cried. I feel for all those citizens, but some questions must be raised no matter the political correctness or the impact of the moment...
