Harrowing Pursuit in Florida's Turnpike | Florida Highway Patrol 

On January 25, 2024 at approximately 5:00 PM, Florida Highway Patrol troopers initiated a traffic stop on a Silverado truck occupied by three individuals: Vincent Fernandes Barbosa (26 years old), Julian Montes (30 years old), and Tramain Reed (33 years old). The purpose of the stop was to investigate Barbosa for suspected drug possession. Upon signaling for the truck to stop, the Silverado failed to comply and instead engaged in a high-speed pursuit, traveling recklessly along the Turnpike. Subsequent investigation revealed that, while attempting to evade capture, the suspects discarded a bag containing cocaine and three firearms from the vehicle.
BSO deputies booked the trio at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale and they were facing charges of armed cocaine trafficking. Their bond was denied.
Fernandes Barbosa, of Deerfield Beach, was on felony probation for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. He was also facing two probation violations.
Reed, of Riviera Beach, is an 8-time convicted felon, whose last conviction was on Nov. 30, 2016, for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling in Martin County. He was also facing charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
Montes, of Wellington, is a four-time convicted felon. He was born in South Carolina and was last convicted on Jan. 19, 2017, of willful fleeing and eluding in Palm Beach County. He was also facing charges of resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and aggravated fleeing with damage.
