Fun Fact: they actually decided to mute his scream in the movie because it made some of the people on set cry because it was so real #harry #potter #harrypotter #dracotok #harryjamespotter #pottertok #hogwarts #potterhead #hp
Lot of people doesn't realize, but this scream is fake. The actual unmuted scream was never released at all. But it is true that it was so agonizing that it made Helena and Emma cry on set.
In terms of acting, this film was a stand out for Daniel. It felt like he had really connected with the pain Harry carries along with the disassociation he felt not just for people he studied with but even his friends now. In this film, it felt like he had a raw access to it and when the film came to its climax, for me it was his mental battle at the end that was the real showdown, not Dumbledore vs Voldemort.
Exactly from first to third movie . I felt like Daniel was in a beginner stage . However in the 5th movie he was just brilliant. Daniel really is going to be great he is already but he will reach top level
The sad thing about this scene was the scream wasn't acting, it was a real scream as he found out the morning before filming his grandfather died, they muted it because of how emotional it was
@@drxxmbearYou mean they censored it because feelings. What is the point of acting then it can’t show your full range of emotions. He used the dead of his grandfather as a catalyst to one of his best if not the best performance in his career and they muted it. GG I guess.
I honestly don't know who I feel sorrier for in this moment - Harry or Remus. Both of them just watch Sirius die. For Remus it was him losing his last best friend, and he couldn't even let himself fully grieve because he had to hold Harry back. For Harry it was him losing his godfather, one of the few connections he had to his father (Remus being the last one), but at least Harry could scream and let it out.
Well it's hard to tell you're right. Harry lost his dad the second time and Remus lost the last person who always stood by his side. I mean the maurordrers accepted him as who he was and that was really rare throughout his story
Plus, Remus is losing his LAST friend from childhood. After James was killed, Pettigrew "died," Sirius was framed, then Remus and Sirius only really had a year to rekindle their friendship after finding out Pettigrew was the traitor. Remus just lost everything, again.
The scream was channeled by radcliffes grief for the loss of his grandfather which is why it was muted because it was to agonising and upsetting for some of his cast mates in fact both Emma (Hermione) and Helena (Bellatrix) cried because of it (they probably felt how sad he was)
I'm probably reading into it too much but i saw a flicker of Bellatrix looking almost sad for a second before she got back into character and realized Oh I'm supposed to be evil.
I think this is pretty close, but the real thing is too upsetting and because he also lost a family member that morning. This part always makes me feel sad, more than that, very alone. Because Harry is going through this all alone. No one can imagine the pain he has been through. And what he does after is just his anger coming out. It really shows how much pain the series showed. But it also makes it so much real.
There is no proof this happened. it's a fan theory. Daniel never said that happened and neither has anyone else that worked on the movie. The real reason they muted it was because it made some of the actors cry and they thought it would be too much for a children's movie. Everyone keeps saying his grandmother died that day but she died when he was on broadway.
Dan’s actual scream was so sad that everyone in a 1 mile radius broke down into tears, dogs howled, cats meowed and there was world peace for a short while. They couldn’t release it from fear that people would weaponise and use it against their local governments.
"She killed him! I'll kill her!" You just know Sirius had a special place in Harry's heart, and I wholeheartedly share that sentiment about getting rid of Bellatrix.
@@KaiLucasZachary and what's your point? Harry THOUGHT Sirius betrayed his parents, and in the movie, they captured that beautifully. One of my favorite scenes in all of HP movies. "He was their friend, and he betrayed them. HE WAS THEIR FRIEND!" I agreed with Harry the first time I read the book, wanting Sirius dead, but we all know Sirius was innocent, and he became many people's favorite character, including mine, but this clip is about Bellatrix, who was evil before and after this scene, and just needed to go.
@@carolinpurayidom4570 Sirius was a brother, a father, a friend, and a guardian of Harry. Harry was more open with Sirius in such a short amount of time. Heck, the night Scabbers was revealed as Peter, Harry immediately wanted to move in with Sirius because Sirius was highly trusted by his parents.
We should talk about Helena’s acting. Such a tragic scene yet bellatrix finds humour. She played the character so well. The evil element she put in was top tier
Behind the scenes was that, Daniels scream was so loud that Helena, Emma and Bonnie actually cried on set after they ended shooting, because that day Daniel had lost a grandparent
@@grim_56 its literally true. His grandparent died on the day they shot the scene of Sirius blacks death so to respect daniel they muted the audio of the scream
Daniel has confirmed that the agony came from the fear of not working with Gary Oldman anymore, whom he became very close with on the set during filming, and everyone said they acted like godfather and godson. When they reunite in the 20th anniversary special, Daniel practically runs up to him and Gary, beaming, pulls him into his arms and they hug for quite a long time.
Guys, it's fake that one his grandparents died, Dan said in an interview he actually felt that scene and put effort on it because it was his last scene with Gary Oldman. He also said none of his grandparents died. He's just a wonderful actor
Harry would scream like this for Sirius not just because it's his godfather but because he truly loved him.. and was so close to having, being part of a 'family'. And Sirius loved Harry. In character, Dan would scream like this because he was very attached to Gary Oldman, who Dan greatly admired. Gary seemed to have been rather attached to Dan as well. It's an incredibly emotional scene. Without need for someone to have actually died. Not to insert myself though i literally bawled and sobbed for a couple hours first time reading the books when Sirius dies. Harry was so close to having someone to love him.. I was actually angry at JKR for writing it. Aarrrrrggghhh. 🥺😭
The actress cried. So yes, that second you see where she looks sad is actually her genuine emotion slipping through before she gets back into character. Emma Watson apparently cried as well. That particular scene was muted because Dan's scream was so heartbroken it effected several members of the crew.
@@cassandrahepp6445 no it’s not, she’s just a good actress. She’s just killed her cousin, this is just her reversing slowly from a kill and actually finding it quite funny. The pain she’s caused, Because she’s crazy like that. It’s just acting, it’s so annoying when people think actors can’t genuinely deliver a good performance without it being ‘real emotion that was just caught on camera’. This scene is also filmed from the opposite direction of Harry so it’s unlikely it was even filmed in order or even at the same time as Daniels reaction for Helena to be looking sad on camera
@@obiwankenobi687 maybe you should read an interview she did. She says it herself. Emma Watson (Hermione), Bonnie Wright (Ginny), and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) all cried when that sceen was shot because the scream Daniel Ratcliffe shocked them all. Daniel (Harry) had recently lost a family member in real life which I'm sure played a part in everyone's emotions. That's why it's mutted in the movie. Bellatrix (the character) taunts Harry about killing him showing that she doesn't feel remorse. It's the actress herself that momentarily slipped.
@@cassandrahepp6445 yes she cried on set But nowhere does she say that made it onto the camera. That scene you’re watching is just her acting. Not some slip of emotion. It’s just a scene of bellatrix smirking and laughing at the fact she killed Sirius black. In fact there’s not even a single second in the scene that can be mistaken for emotion she’s just pure smirking as she reverses from them
Shouldn't have muted it. It was so powerful. Actors do use real life traumatising events to be able to deliver a more effective character so I'm not sure why this was left out.
This shows how great J.K Rowling was at writing and how good David Yates was at directing. Undoubtably the most painful and gut wrenching moment in the series. This scene shows how much control is in Remus, after losing his only best friend alive he still had to hold harry back from destroying bellatrix. Sirius is without a doubt my favourite character in the Harry Potter Universe.
Lupin was such a good friend to both Harry and Sirius, his best friend. The fact that he had it in him to hold Harry back and comfort him right after they witnessed someone they cared deeply about die, shows how much a good person he was. I miss him.
It's real Dan confirmed this video I would link it but I can't find it anywhere. He also did NOT lose his Grandmother that day this rumour has gone too far l!
Yes it is Dan confirmed it in a now deleted video. Yes the scream was edited in but a voice clip of his real scream somehow must of leaked and then they edited it to fit this. All mentioned in the now gone video.
This was the scene that made me read the books. Even muted it broke my heart and I had to drop everything to read the books because I didn’t understand why Rowling would kill him after he lost so many others. Love the series now and glad I read the books but dang this scene gets me every time
It's so much more powerful in the books, especially the way that Harry goes to someone like Nearly-Headless Nick to ask about what happens to people who die.
Oh god that’s heartbreaking. And all of our hearts broke for him at this scene. I heard someone say it was so raw because he was grieving the loss of his grandfather. This death was one of the worst for me. Sirius deserved so so much better and he and Harry deserved more time together.
My heart breaks when watching this scene. The fact that Harry was so devastated that he was gonna end his life by going into the mist with Sirius. Knowing that and hearing his scream at the same time breaks my heart even more.
Its true that this was completed in one take. The unmuted scream was so agonizing that the entire set had to be shut down for a days so the staff could regain their composure. Even the mandrakes felt it.
It honestly seems like Gary Oldman's deaths in media (when he's a protagonist, at least) always result in truly emotional moments. I remember something similar happened in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon with Elijah Wood's Spyro, and I have to admit both of the scenes made me feel emotion (I didn't cry, but that doesn't mean I didn't feel sorrow myself), and I have to admit the music for both helped a lot.
I think whoever made the decision to mute the scream was the best decision ever made... The muted scream along with low volume background score made it exceptional... Like the audience really felt the pain and sorrow, through this... (Atleast i felt that) ❤️
My heart was teard apart after watching this. But thanks to Molly Weasley I am good now. "Happiness can be found even at the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." Albus Dumbledore
It’s not Harry’s screams that shatter my heart it’s the look in Remus’s eyes, you can tell if it wasn’t for him holding Harry back you can tell he probably would’ve collapsed in grief, the idea now his two best friends are dead must be very painful and you can see that in his eyes
I just saw this movie again today. His death was so sudden, just as death can come. Daniel's acting here was so well done. And I just read in another comment here why that was exactly. Brrr, now I think of it that gives a whole different feeling to this scene.
I like how Lupin tried to stop Harry from going after Bellatrix but ultimately was like "You know what... she just killed one of my only remaining childhood friends... have at it, Harry." And then just let's him go
I think it's more like Remus tried to stop Harry, but realised he couldn't hold him back and let him chase after Bellatrix. The look on his face thereafter is one of grief and pain. For himself and Harry. They both had lost someone very dear to them, someone who was the only family Harry had left that wasn't the Dursleys. But there is also a hint of concern for Harry too. Remus knows all too well what Harry is going through, and he worries that not only is he putting himself in danger, but that he'll lose himself in his anger and suffering.
This might not be real but it actually sounds like it could be. The fact they had to cut something as simple as this shows what an amazing actor Daniel really is.
also, i'll never know for sure, but the scream posted by "Glyphz" sounds pretty similar/realistic. between the two of them, that's one truly agonizing eruption
I've re watched all the movies so many times even logged in probably 100+ views for each movie before the next one and I try to refrain from how often I re watch them as not to get sick of them but scenes like this always remind how much shit is really in these movies the best part is when I forget about certain scenes and it feels like I'm seeing it again for the first time damn near. But this was one of the saddest parts for me. I'm happy to have seen every movie in theater besides the 1st one sadly but I was 4 years old and introduced to the series on a VHS from Kmart. I didn't know there were books then so it felt like a prayer waiting for the chamber of secrets.
They had to mute it and could only do the scene twice because of what it was and then how impossibly hard it was for Daniel who had lost a family member days before and it came out in this scene as a character in the movie he loved died and the pain he was feeling because his personal life was the screams he did twice and it was so powerful it had to be muted 😢(thankfully as I still get tears at one of my favourite characters dying and I couldn’t watch it with the sound because I read what had happened and Daniel’s) 😢
Little things like that give favor to the movies, even though I think the books are much better. The tiniest bit of humanity left in Bellatrix comes out, before the twisted evil her parents ingrained in her takes over. Unlike Voldemort, I think Bellatrix did know how to love at some point.
@@007spudmanSpudsArmy Bella's actress and Emma actually cried during that shot coz that shot was really intense , Daniel was really screaming coz that day he heard his grandmother passed away so after that scene he burst out crying, that's y it looks so natural
@@nahor88 lol i deny about voldy, he was born out of love portion and his entire family is a nut case i mean from his paternal grandfather and he was a weakling compared to his prime wizards but he went all dark mode later
THE MOST HEART BREAKING DEATH. THEY HAD PLANS TO LIVE TOGETHER!!! ESP. IN THE BOOKS, HARRY TELLING HERMIONE AND RON ABOUT IT. HE FINALLY HAS HIS FAMILY.
Dont you mean big lie? Daniel Radcliffe denied that any family member of his died recently compared to that scene being filmed. It’s a complete lie made up by fans.
imagine being remus, he lost all his childhood friends to death, the only LIVING friend he had left was peter pettigrew but he betrayed lily and james🥺💔
Guys guys Daniel's scream was oh so real and like true brah that the entire cast and the guy that plunges the toilets pooped in their skinny jeans on set. It was a huge emotional smelly mess. Ron Weasley's poo smelled the worst that day though obviously.
Aw omg bless him! This is so sad. 💓 I’m not sure if the unmuted version was actually ever really released but this is still sad… I think I heard that Daniel had lost one of his grandparents around this time, it would have been a very difficult and such an emotional time. Very sorry for his loss.
No he didn’t lose a grandparent. The actor denies such thing and you can look up his grandparents and see that they didn’t die during this scene being filmed anyway. Complete lie.
No offence to anyone, but do people believe these, look it up, there are loads of these with different screams. Also they said the probably would release the scream.
Fun Fact: Did you know that Daniel Radcliffe's scream was actually real? because the day they started filming, that was actually the same morning Radcliffe got told his grandpa had died
The truth behind that scream was he lost his grandfather that same morning, and he wasn't ready for that kind of pain, to lose a loved one, and "lose" another father-figure, and everyone felt his pain and suffering, and that's why Helena and Emma cried of camera.
Bellatrix's face is what broke my heart. You know it was heartbreaking when the character who killed him shows sympathy. Even if just for a moment. Whether this is the real scream or not or whether he lost someone or not this scene is the most heartbreaking in the Harry Potter series. Harry deserved to have some semblance of a parent at the end of this and it was taken from him yet again.
