Given the stingy track record of SNL, their loss. Mr. Anderson was still getting hefty paychecks courtesy of NBC thanks to his great work on NIGHT COURT. Meanwhile, Charles Rocket once dropped an F-bomb during one of the cast end credit sequences and was immediately dropped from SNL. Hell, Nora Dunn ran a smear campaign after SNL invited Andrew Dice Clay to host back in 1990. Note she was the only cast member not to appear on that particular episode.

Harry Anderson was a true original, though.

No body should have complained at 11:30, 10:30 central. It was obviously not harmed.

Not to the millions of viewers who called in complaining thus resulting in him getting banned from the show.

The trick can clearly be seen IF you're looking for it AND if you have the advantage of RU-vid's instant replay. Audiences in 1985 did not. It was live and unexpected and most of the TV audience was definitely not pleased. NBC was flooded with phone calls. Dick Ebersole, the producer at the time, begged Harry all through the show to come out and show the living Skippy to the audience, but he would not. That is, until the closing shot with the whole cast. Then, and only then, did Skippy make a return appearance. Harry was a great magician and street performer too. You should check out some of his other SNL gigs and his Showtime special called "Hello, Sucker."
