Harry Blackstone Jnr. performing the vanishing birdcage and dancing handkerchief. Both routines are beautiful. This was recorded in 1987 for the Paul Daniels Magic Show.
I saw him perform here in Los Angeles in the 70's. I was one of the kids that got to go up for the birdcage trick. There weren't as many kids as are here - I remember feeling like my hand was on the cage and then in a second it was gone. I didn't see where it went but thus began my fascination with magic.
That is the first time I have seen him do the disappearing birdcage trick without volunteers holding the sides of the cage. And I still don’t know how he does that.
This is the trick the movie "the prestige"was based on. Its a simple but highly effective trick because the audience holds the cage but cannot stop it from disappearing..
@@brich2929 - that's nice. After 7 years you are the first person to work out what the comment referred to. Nevertheless, it's still pretty useless and irrelevant information, unless she was the person who actually vanished the cage.
the magician might have cross the hankachief. but if he didn't then the man didn't tie a know. he just wound the ends together. not very hard to pull apart
Things were different in 1987: Girl puts hand on Harry's "Aahh, that's nice" - I'm pretty sure that would be considered super-creepy today. Also, "No, the clean hand!"- Really, Harry!?? Other than those cringeworthy moments, a good performance.
