@@mikeo5003 There’s still more than enough “good old fashioned racism” to go around today, many times over, sadly. Your usernames seems extremely fitting, btw! 👍
I would like to be able to laugh at any race or culture without worrying about being labelled a racist. On the other side of the coin, I’d also welcome any other race or culture to take the proverbial Mickey out of my race/culture. It’s only fair after all. How does that sound?
Now people are so sensitive that they complain about Sainsbury's adverts because the people in it are a different colour to them. These snowflakes and their damn cancel culture.
@@Joorawon.M.Yousuf I am a muslim too and this is just funny, there is nothing offensive here, just joking around, offensive would have been if they made her with bombs under her clothes
@@Joorawon.M.Yousuf they are making fun of Americans and even if they were making fun of covering her entire face, that is not recognised as a part of Islam by all Muslims. I know many that disagree because it isn’t stated in the Quran and makes people stare which is the opposite of what god would want
I agree, my German friend is just like that, doesn't get the dry wit lol Couldn't make a sketch like this in 2021, be all race riots again lol. A jokes is only a joke, god if my old nana was alive today they'd lock her up for things she's said in her local paper shop and post office, all Asian owners lol, I was just a kid telling her "Nanna you can't say things like that, it's not acceptable these days anymore"
😂😂😂 I’m Muslim and this is hilarious. The good old days when people had common sense not to condemn others for just a good sense of humour. Well done Harry Enfield and chums. You are fab.!
There's still such an appetite for this type of comedy, but it just wouldn't get broadcast. Instead we are encouraged to endure mundane shite like Mrs. Brown's Boys and Miranda. Control control control.
offensive humour is the best kind of humour imo, ppl getting offended and cancelling it is actually making ppl weak, if they just took the joke maybe they'd man up
Looooll!!... I was a kid in high school when I watched this first. Was in absolute stitches. A Golden era of Comedy. When a joke was just a joke. Nowadays a sketch like this wouldn't make it past censors and all that Malark... Thanks for the memories Harry Enfield!
@@leonbrady6288 Except nobody is laughing AT anyone - the laughter is self deprecating - the idea of an innocent person making an observation and meaning no harm to the subject in the sketch

As a British Muslim married man and a father, born and educated in England/London; all I have to say is I found this very funny 😆 I love Harry Enfield and really love his shows. They was making mockery at the Americans more than the Muslim woman by the way !
“As a British Muslim married man” 🧑🏻💻 yeah not way you are Muslim lol anyone can make an account and pretend to be whoever they want to be , “ I’m black and this is ok”
Notice during these jokes based on the characters ignorance, they aren't malicious, but complimenting? Nowadays there'd be Twitter outcry aa satire is dying.
Warren Mitchell used to get people complimenting him on his Alf Garnett character and saying how right Garnett was. They never realised the character was a criticism.
They can't do jokes like this now but they can be as nasty towards Right Wing voters views just look at The Last Leg they only have Labour supporters on there week in and week out !
@@RU-vidTookMyNickname.WhyNot Condescending is a bit strong, I see no patronising superiority here. We all process unusual situations in different ways and that was their way of reacting to it. I would probably have smiled politely, said nothing and thought to myself, my God, why do people wear those things? The writers intention I would think is to provoke us in a playful way, no malice intended. I would love to know what a burka wearer thinks of the sketch and, whilst they're at it, to explain to me why they wear them.
@@RU-vidTookMyNickname.WhyNot I used to work for a "posh" old lady who spent her youth living in British colonies. She would make a bee line for anyone out of the ordinary on the street taking me with her as she relied on my arm. I admired the ease at which she communicated with people who looked alien to me and it was good for my soul to witness. She was very kind and had a generous heart.
@@Yourballix yeah yeah blah blah! You're opinion means nothing! You know a thing about a shark is? He's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a dolls eyes! When he comes at ye, he doesn't seem to be living, until he bites ye and those black eyes roll over white and ahhh you hear that terribble high pitched screaming, the ocean turns red and spite all the pounding and the hollering, they all come in and rip ye to pieces!
If you asked Harry Enfield about this sketch now he would have to apologies not because he's sorry but because he couldn't risk pardon the pun being Black listed by the Lefties in television ! 😱😂😂😂😂
I am in support of Harry Enfield all the way what I meant to say is comidians are having to apologise for the past even though there was nothing wrong with what they did in the first place but in order to get work in the future they are having to say sorry or the TV producer Snowflakes won't employ them again ! 😱
I was walking in an old graveyard in Edinburgh when I came across 10 - 15 teenagers all dressed in black looking like they were looking for trouble. I made a hasty retreat , then an old American couple walked past me and and I heard the old man say - ' gosh honey look at this the kids are all hanging out in this tomb - hi kids how's it goin , what's that funky music you are listening too , my wife and I were real swingers back in the day ' , they then proceeded to dance in front of the teenagers. They were right , they were just kids , not kids from the hood.
Scenes like this would be cut out completely, the remaining scenes would be edited within an inch of it's life and the remaining 5 minutes of content would carry a sensitive content trigger warning.
Sad to think that once upon a time people would have saw this as a joke and moved on. Now I imagine people would be outraged by how ‘racist’ and ‘offensive’ this is.
only one comment wtf this is brill should put this stuff back on brainwash TV and lots more, this is the UK is it not, are we too scared of having a laugh
I know your comment is 3 years old and a lot has happened in those 3 years but I'd now like to answer your question - yes, we are clearly too scared of having a laugh. Count Dankula got arrested, charged and convicted by a judge for having a laugh.
@@MrMoo272 2 years on from your comment and it's worse, people are now too scared to leave thier front door also could be jailed for hate crime for having a laugh.
I found it funny as I met this exact couple (feels like it anyway) when staying in a hotel with Krakow on a work assignment. We bumped into them everywhere we went and they were very friendly but irritatingly so and greeted us loudly whenever we saw them with comments about how the pancakes at breakfast were the best they had ever tasted, asking us whether we were going to work when we were wearing suits and carrying laptops....all done at maximum volume.
This is so true. I was at the Singapore Zoo years ago and these yank tourists said over and over, "Look at the Panda's, Look at the Panda's, Look at the Panda's".
this kind of comedy has died on the TV but in the hearts of the British, u all get taken the piss out of we just can't say it to your face or we get cancelled XD

How many are allowed to drive ? How many are allowed to socialise., even talk to unknown men ? How many would be allowed to tour the world as you seem to do ? Etc., etc., etc.
Sadness attached to comedy like this why can’t we all just grow thick skin and have a laugh like the old days instead of all pc crap comedy and sitcoms they put on tv today 🤮🤮
I'm shaking my head at everyone claiming the tourists were being racist. You people are the entire problem with the modern world. Even in a skit like this, you can't see that they're merely making fun of an American tourist/old people stereotype. The muslim girl isn't offended in the slightest, just flabbergasted at their forwardness.
the leftist ideology that is who promotes that agenda:( if you disagree with a certain religion your racist when in fact its just poos just cos I dont believe that ideology dont make me or anyone with the same think racist..... skin colour aint got nothing to do with it. This clip is great love brit comedy all the way over in new zealand I am miss the old school classics harry enfield young ones fawlty towers bottom all the classics:(
I used to work in a hotel, and we would get coach loads of overseas tourists visiting. When it came to dinner time, guests had to pick up plates that were quite warm. We had guests from all over the world....and we would do our best to tell them about the plates. We would wave a napkin and mime picking up a hot plate. Many guests didn't speak English, but understood what we were trying to tell them. That is apart from our U.S. guests. I would wave my napkin and explain that the plates were hot. Then I would count.....it usually happened on about the 6th person in the queue. There would be the sound of broken plates and a lot of swearing! It became so regular the staff would make wagers on it happening! I've travelled in the US, and know that this is not typical behaviour of Americans. However there does seem to be some truth in these stereotypical American tourist types. Much like 'The British Abroad' who want British food and people to speak English wherever they go in the world! Who knows...maybe every nation has people that really should just stay local? 😀
They're creating those real-life problems for themselves at an alarming rate and when they return to confront them, they will be of a magnitude they cannot handle. They are clueless, criminal imbeciles and their collective future is already written.
Probably never apart from in your fantasy. Sorry to disappoint. Folk find him funny and he has always relied both on stereotypes and subverting stereotypes for humour.
The inablilty to laugh about things nowar days is likely a cause of depression. When you can’t express yourself naturally, surely it messes with your head.
