He's the best finisher and best classical striker, I'd agree with Austin on that. Messi is a better player overall though, but they are also so different and have different roles that the 1 for 1 comparison is hard to make.
Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. Lewandowski is also the better finisher, better goals per minutes, better shot accuracy and conversion rate over last 3 seasons and this season
Kane is great but Messi creates so many of his own chances. While their shot to goal ratio isn't too dissimilar in their respective leagues, it can't be said Kane is better. 146 shots this season and 22 goals, where as Messi has had 128 shots and scored 20 goals. However, Messi averages 2.5 per game outside the box, while Kane averages 2.2. Messi's finishing is underrated, because of how good he is as a dribbler and playmaker. Meanwhile, a player like Kane has one job, which is to score. Not to mention, Messi has set records with his goals that have never been seen before. 73 in a year, 91 in a season, the only player to score in 21 league games in a row, and he is the only player to average 40 goals or more for eight seasons running. One other stat is he's actually scored more goals in la liga than Ronaldo, since Ronaldo came to Madrid in 09, yet has had over 400 less shots. That says it all.
Will just mention tho, 2.5 shots from outside the box per game is worse than 2.2, for a goal attempt you want outside the box shots as low as possible and inside the box shots to be as high as possible to have the best chance of scoring.

Harry Kane is simply a better finisher than Messi. Apart from that and the physical stature of Kane. Messi is the overall better player. But Kane has scored 30+ goals for the past 3 years in the most competitive league and best league in the world and has proved he’s in the top 3 strikers in the world. Also he’s done it all while playing for Tottenham no disrespect to Tottenham but their no Barcelona. Yes Messi has done it for more than a decade but he’s playing in a tinpot league and for half his time at Barca they were the best team in the world. Also he played in possibly the best ever side in the history of football. When Barca won the treble. In my eyes Messi is the best ever player to play the game but take nothing away from Kane he’s a fantastic player and is only going to get better. And he doesn’t get enough love and respect he deserves from people around the world.
Connor Mason I hate the argument that the prem is the best league in the world. Prem is the most entertaining league for sure and has some of the best teams in the world in there. But to say that the Spanish league is a farmers league because you don't watch them is ridiculous. Most Spanish teams below the main 6 would do very well in the prem. Burnley are 7th ffs. You can see that apart from the top 6 there is no quality in the league. Only Leicester city in the prem have a positive goal difference the stats show there is barely any quality. There's no middle half this season. Just top 6, then bottom half.

There was a comprehensive study done that analyzed the best finishers, in respect to all types of chances, shot conversion ratios, etc, that was incredibly detailed, and Messi BY FAR was the best finisher.
As a diehard Rangers fan I can’t tell you how much I respect this man. Did more than he should have for QPR. I wish him so much success and always look for him on the score sheet.
