When you think of Harry Kewell, you picture a footballer of elegance, intelligence, lethal effectiveness.
The great Leeds United side he played in was his perfect domain, surrounded by formidable talents such as Alan Smith, Lee Bowyer, Gary Kelly, Mark Viduka, Michael Bridges, Robbie Keane, Robbie Fowler and not least David Batty. Yet for all their sophistication, those men would battle it out in training - with regular flare-ups, and be willing to go to war for each other come Saturday
Kewell is now coaching at Celtic, and we hear how a message from Ange Postecoglou sold Harry on a coaching role at the Scottish giants - despite Ange having once rejected Harry for the Socceroos squad. Harry is brilliant at describing how Ange’s combination of simple messaging and human decency influences his footballers. And Harry himself is no slouch at getting inside players’ heads. Indeed, World Cup star Daizen Maeda said he’s the best educative coach he’s worked with.

Great player for Leeds. As a Leeds fan, the two most gifted players i've seen in my lifetime are Harry Kewell and Raphinha (now at Barcelona). Technically, athletically and mentally world class both were genuine world class. Was my favourite player growing up and had him on the back of my shirt. Thanks for the great memories Harry. Got genuine joy watching you play. PS. I understand the feelings of other fans re: Galatasaray but I separate the two things... one was a dreadful event - one was a player going to earn money for his family.

I am so so so sorry for Kev and Chris. There is no words that i can describe the pain of their families.. As a huge fan of galatasaray, football is just not important compairing people’s lives.. I wish these things were never happened and Leeds played the Uefa Cup.. I would trade all Galatasaray trophies for Kev and Chris lives 🙏🙏🙏

I don't think people realise how strong the Australian team is or has been historically, but the fact that Harry Kewell was dropped is a testament to this. Not enough people also clearly remember the day Harry Kewell outshone Beckham etc. and Australia beat England 3-1 in London. I was convinced leading into that game that Australia would win and that would have been the result if it were replayed shortly afterwards. Many of the professional players knew to be wary of Australia back then but it was unfortunate that most of the pundits and lay people didn't have the same level of respect and understanding. Australia had a lot of players with the X-factor and some of them were based in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy etc. but they were all good enough for the EPL. We were actually very close to winning the World Cup, if it weren't for an Italian dive in the box when they were on the ropes with only 10 men.

As a Leeds fan, the three most gifted players I've seen in my lifetime are - Eddie Gray, Harry Kewell, and Raphinha (now at Barcelona). Whatever he says here - his best period (Harry Kewell) for me was when he was at Leeds United. He was our John Barnes. but we also had Mark Vaduka, Robbie Keane, Michael Bridges, McAllister, Tony Dorigo, Alan Smith, and Rio Ferndinardo =. BUT THAT LEEDS UNITED SIDE FROM 1999 TO 2021 - was one of ever the best sides - that we have ever produced in English Football,. I really believe this. I still think that David O'Leary's side was something else and we should have WON THE LEAGUE TITLE IN THE YEARS OF 1999 to 2021. I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW - ITS SUCH A GOOD INTERVIEW

I'm a big fan of the Big Interview and love the selection of interviewees. Big big fan of Kewell's too and was so glad to have him here but this one got a bit tooooo technical. You have to be working on your coaching badges to fully enjoy it! Would have rather listened more to stuff about the Liverpool transfer and life there, the Galatasaray saga and Australia at the WC

Here's to all the Leeds fans still going on about Harry signing for Galatasaray - GET OVER IT. You were one club on his journey, like any footballer, you could have signed him again. Instead he chose to close out his career in a good league and set up his family for later life. He never meant any disrespect.
