08:33 Fun fact: The Twins got their store because Harry gave them the money he won from the Tri-Wizard Tournament in "The Goblet of Fire". If you recall the very first movie, Harry is already rich AF by inheritance. So he figured he doesn't need the prize money and since the Weasleys are notoriously broke and the twins have been awesome friends, Harry essentially funds their business start-up.

In the books, the twins got the money for their shop from Harry. Harry didn’t want the prize money from the Tri-wizard tournament, and tried to give at least half to Cedric’s family. Then he gave some to the twins to open their shop, and some to the Weasley’s to buy Ron a new wand, and I think, a new tux.

Huge credit to Tom Felton playing Malfoy in this one. The scene at 53:55 gets me every time. "I have to kill you or he's going to kill me" is delivered like a gut punch, and he manages to make you feel empathy for Malfoy. He was scared and didn't want to do it. Then before you can process that, Snape walks (the audience thinking he's going to help), but instead kills Dumbledore. The result is the exact reaction you guys had, it’s heartbreaking. Can't wait for you both to see the conclusion of the films!

Going back to the books, this was really the first time we got to see Draco in more than one dimension as a character. In the movie, Tom Felton did a fantastic job portraying the turmoil within the character. Going the next step, I think it is really amazing how good these young actors were throughout the ten years of filming the movies, going from 11 or 12 years old to adults over that time, and really carrying it off.

This is my second favourite movie in the series, and part of that is because it makes me suddenly (and VERY unexpectedly) feel sympathy for Draco Malfoy. After 5 movies of seeing him as a one dimensional little evil daddys-boy, they did a 180, and he turns out to be a victim of his own heritage, his family. Just like Harry is chosen to save, Draco is basically chosen to bring upon destruction and death, and it is so very clear from his manners that he feels forced to go along with it, even if he doesn't want to.

Snape INVENTED the spells in the textbook, including the famous Levicorpus spell. Snape as a 3rd Year was already creating spells, when non-verbal magic was considered difficult even for 6th years. Sirius even said that Snape at 1st year already knew more curses than half the kids in 7th year.
@ericwillison4011
@ericwillison4011 Год назад
One thing that is amazing about this series is how the smallest plot details from the earlier books coming roaring back. Remember Snape's first questions to Harry, one of which was "What is a bezoar?"? Harry learned (from the shame of not knowing the answer when Snaped asked) that a bezoar was a stone from the stomach of a goat that can cure most maladies. So when Ron was on the floor dying of the poison meant for Dumbledore, Harry searched for and found a bezoar and put it in Ron's mouth.
@pencilnecked1579
@pencilnecked1579 Год назад
And in the book inside The Half-Blood Prince's potions book there was a footnote written in about just shoving a bezoar down their throat to cure a poison. One of the breadcrumbs giving away who the potions book once belonged to. The book also did a great job of showing that Harry was only struggling in potions class because of the personal issues Snape and Harry had with each other interfering with Harry's ability to learn.
@drakke125Channel
@drakke125Channel Год назад
The reason why Harry used a Bezoar is not because he remembered the Bezoar as the general cure, but because he recalls a quote from the Half-Blood Prince textbook, which reads "Shove a bezour down their throat"

Something they don't fully explain in the movie is that Ginny is so adamant that Harry get rid of the Potions book because of what happened with her and the diary in the Chamber of Secrets. She'd confided in the diary and was manipulated by Tom Riddle (Voldemort) into doing what he wanted. She's concerned about anyone following unknown instructions from a book, which is why she wants Harry to get rid of it.

Another thing the movies tried to do their best with but couldn't really show the extent of is just how much Harry was obsessed with the book. I mean it was SUCH a huge part of the book, which made the reveal even more massive.

@@Marthyboy88 Yeah, the Half-blood Prince was like a new best friend to him. He felt such a kinship with him and so badly wanted to learn who he was. So Snape's reveal at the end was like one notch below "No, _I_ am your father!" (which is how the quote goes, but everyone gets it wrong 🧐)

They left like half the plot out of this movie. Harry's obsession with the potions book is gone, half the Pensieve flashbacks are gone, the theories about what the Horcruxes might be are gone, the deconstruction of the whole Chosen One plot is gone. Bill and Fleur are gone. Tonks and Lupin are gone. Ginny's character development is gone. The freaking climactic battle is gone, so it looks like Draco spent the whole year trying to fix a Vanishing Cabinet just so a couple of Death Eaters could stand around and watch him try to kill Dumbledore. This was the point where they were like "Eh, screw it, everyone in the audience has probably already read the books anyway, they can fill in the blanks themselves." Which is why I always tell newcomers, if you're serious about getting into Harry Potter, _read the books first_ 😑

Great reaction guys! It’s true this one is a bit darker. Hermione and Ron is a bit more obvious in the books, because Hermione is much more flawed and normal, and Ron is very useful and insightful. This doesn’t translate in the movies though 😅 Also, Ginny and Harry spend a lot of time together during the Summer. They play Quidditch together and enjoy the same kind of humor. She’s very much like a female Fred/George, and is actually one of the most beautiful and popular girls in school. I feel bad for Draco! He is being forced to murder as a punishment to his father. Voldemort believed that Draco would get killed, he never believed Draco would succeed. That’s kind of awful to do to a kid that didn’t really sign up for this.

You’re mostly spot on, but Malfoy was not originally an unwilling participant. He joined wanting glory and had the belief he was redeeming his family, along with upholding good old pure blood values. Every time Jay said “You can’t be serious!” I just kept replying (in my head) “He’s not Sirius, he’s Severus!” The book of The Half-blood Prince is, in my opinion, one of the best HP books. It gives so much back story (most of which didn’t make the film) to Tom Riddle and really prepared you for the what might come in the last book (the next two films are the last book split into two parts). Yes, it was heartbreaking with the death of Dumbledore and though that heartbreak transferred to the film unfortunately so much was changed and lost, obviously due to the time constraints of film the film would have probably been at least five hours long if it contained everything. Sadly though, I found that it left a slightly disjointed film, I hadn’t read any of the books when I first saw the film and by the time Deathly Hallows Part One was released I had read the full series at least twice and then read the last two books to my niece and nephew once or twice. Don’t worry though, if by the end of the last film you still have questions (that the answers for aren’t found in the comments) then if/when you read the books you will find that it all makes more sense. Oh and Tom Riddle is a half-blood, his Mum was a witch who was a descendant of Salazar Slytherin (alluded to in The Chamber of Secrets) one of the founders of Hogwarts (along with Godric Griffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff). She died shortly after giving birth to Tom (who was conceived after she tricked his father into marrying her by giving him a love potion, he left her when she told him what she had done and released him from the effects) leaving him in the care of the orphanage that Dumbledore found him in. His Dad, Tom Riddle Snr was a muggle and it was one of his bones that was magically dug up in The Goblet of Fire to go in the cauldron with Wormtail’s hand and Harry’s blood to return Voldemort to a whole person. None of this information could be classified as spoilers because it was given in or before The Half-blood Prince but in the books.

Nice catch at 42:35! In the movies it feels weird that Harry and Ginny start liking each other as more than friends, but in the books it makes more sense. One of the reasons they bond so much is that they both know what it's like having Voldemort inside their head and messing with their emotions and thoughts. They understand each other and how that particular darkness and despair felt. Also, the movies never really show how badass Ginny is, she's a very powerful witch, she goes toe to toe with Ron when arguing with him about her choices as a young woman and she's also really brave, it's easy to see why Harry likes her.

I find the Potter franchise so refreshing with how they handled Harry and Hermione's relationship. How many franchises do not have the main male lead and the female lead get together? And even if they don't end up together, they try it out before realizing they're not meant for each other. Harry and Hermione's relationship is purely platonic, the idea of them being an item is not even suggested by the story; the fans of course all called for it, but the story itself never suggested it

The movies REALLY pushed it though. When in movie, they dance, cuddle, talk, and stay together during all of DH 1, while in the book they hardly spoke let alone look at each other. It was a strange change, but considering the writers dislike for Ron and love of Hermione makes it make sense

I think the whole Ginny and Harry thing is kind of confusing for people who are watching the movies for the first time because it feels very random and out of the blue, but for a bit of clarity: in the books Harry lived with the Weasley’s for a whole month before the 6th year of school, thus getting to spend time with Ginny and getting to know her better- often playing Quidditch with the Weasley brothers in the yard, and Ginny playing along too, leading to them bonding over something they both love.

@Jermare She was, but she and hermoine talked about it and hermoine told her to stop, so harry could see the real her, and in time her would fall for her. The friendship between ginny and hermoine is something I really miss not being in the movies. It really shows how well hermoine knew both of them. Harry could never fall for someone who idolized him, since he hated the attention so much. Ginny could also never really fall for harry because she idolized him. Letting them both take a break allowed both to relax and become friends, growing into more. Also ginny being taken in by the diary really made a solid connection between the two. I loved that part of the book, and so glad he realized the connection watching the movie. Ginny having real experience against voldemort and a dangerous book kicked harry out of his "Only I know" mindset and made him actually think.

The shaggy looking guy that was seen with Bellatrix and others, his name is Fenrir Greyback. You can barely see his wanted poster in Knockturn Alley on the way to spying on Malfoy. He was the one who bit Remus Lupin. He also injured Bill Weasley during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower in the book AND he kidnapped Ollivander from his wand shop at the beginning, when the Death Eaters torched the place. Dumbledore has been hiding some things pretty much the entire length of this series. This is why he's THE fan-favorite character. He's frustratingly mysterious. You'll see a new level of that in the last two movies. The number of times readers minds were blown when learning more about Dumbledore was large. Watch them back to back PLEASE. You can't wait and WE can't wait to see how you react to the end. A sad note: Belby, one of the guests at Slughorn's dinner party (the one scarfing down his sundae), his actor (Rob Knox) was killed more than a year before this movie was released. He was protecting his little brother outside a pub. A man was threatening the brother with two knives and was stabbed lethally in the process. He was 18 years old, a month younger than Daniel Radcliffe (Harry's actor). This franchise has lost a lot of actors too soon, either during or years after the end of it. Real tragic.

There were even more tragic events with some of the cast: One of the actresses who played the one of the twins who Harry took to the Yule ball in Goblet of Fire: “Manchester Crown Court heard Ashraf Azad launched a "prolonged and nasty" attack on Afshan Azad, who played Padma Patil in the hit films. She was punched repeatedly and dragged by her hair after being overheard talking to her Hindu boyfriend. Mr Azad, 28, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The court previously heard how Miss Azad, 22, was branded a "prostitute" and "slag" and was told: "Marry a Muslim or you die." The actress fled the family home in Longsight, south Manchester, through a bedroom window after the attack on 21 May 2010. The actress, who now lives in London, had pleaded with the court not to jail her older brother. But Judge Roger Thomas QC said there were no good or proper reasons to suspend his sentence of six months. "This persistent attack was accompanied by serious and very hurtful abuse and threats," he told the defendant. "It must have been a miserable and frightening experience for your sister which, she suggested, lasted for about three hours or so. "The background to this offence lies in the concern that you, and perhaps other family members, had about Afshan's relationship with a young man who was not of the Islamic faith." He added: "This is a sentence that is designed to punish you for what you did and also to send out a clear message to others that domestic violence involving circumstances such as have arisen here cannot be tolerated." Richard Vardon QC, prosecuting, said Azad confronted his sister who ended the call, hid the phone and sim card and then sat on her bed before the defendant barged in and began shouting at her. "He then grabbed her hair and threw her across the room," the prosecutor said. "She began crying and asked him to stop. The defendant began punching her with clenched fists to her back and head area." The court was told that her brother's wife, Sonia, who also lived at the house, came into the room and tried to push him away. Mr Vardon said the actress was pushed on to her father's bed, with her brother shouting: "Sort your daughter out! She's a slag!" Azad then grabbed his sister by the neck and began to throttle her, the court heard. "She struggled to breathe and was scared for her life," Mr Vardon added. The victim's mother and sister-in-law then entered the bedroom as the family discussed what to do with her, the court was told. Mr Vardon said her father, Abul, 53, suggested sending her back to Bangladesh for an arranged marriage, while her mother called her a "prostitute". Miss Azad's father sent her to bed, but she fled the house the next day. - BBC News

The ending of this story really felt like a cultural touch point for the series. The midnight releases for the books were such huge events. You’d get your book, read until you couldn’t keep your eyes open, and just keep going until you finished, avoiding the internet, TV, and all forms of socialization so you wouldn’t get spoiled. By that evening, the internet community would be abuzz to discuss everything that happened and all the new theories. And when everyone emerged from their reading stupor for this book, the headline was “Snape killed Dumbledore.” You’d stand in line at the grocery store and hear people discussing it. I even saw a graffiti on the subway. It raised the stakes for the series, and I feel like it brought such an ominous pall over what I expected for the finale.

It isn't exactly what he wants to do but it's what is expected of him. Harry gace his Triwizard Tournament winnings to the Twins for their shop. Cho is also a Ravenclaw. The fact that Ron and Hermione were mean to each other was signifying they actually did like each other. It's how kids flirt. Really good reaction video. The look on your faces, the tone of your voices, everything changed when Snape uttered the "killing curse". I "felt" your reactions. That's the ultimate goal for a reaction channel, to honestly share that moment with all of us and for us to have felt the same way. A good movie has a good story but a great film brings forth emotions and makes you feel something. The HP series is a film masterpiece. I truly look forward to the future reaction videos, there's still so much more to come.

As someone else said here, the midnight release of the books was such an event! I remember going ( I was an adult but charmed by these books and started reading them originally to my son when he was about 8, seeing hundreds of people lining up to buy a book is something that will unfortunately never happen again, kids would dress up as their favorite characters and it was such a party atmosphere, then everyone was exhausted because of staying up all night reading. Such fun memories

I didn't start reading the books until after #6 was released and I was so glad that I had waited that long so I wouldn't have had to wait between the previous books. I was so relieved right until the end of the book and Dumbledore died. I was so shocked that I wished I had waited until the 7th had come out before starting them. I started reading the first one to see what was missing in the movie; I read the entire series because it was incredibly well written for any age.

Oh, I am so glad you all are enjoying this journey. I really hope you take the time to read the books at some point. There is so much more depth in them. This movie, for me, does not give enough of the book's flavor until the end. We get a lot more of Harry analyzing the Half Blood Prince's potions book, and it's Hermione who discovers the identity of the "Prince." Dumobledore picks Harry up from the Dursley's and gives them a good talking to about how they have treated Harry through the years. This, for me, is an important statement that the movie left out. The scene in the restaurant by the tube station is so weak in comparison. We also learn about Sirius' will and that Harry inherits the house at Grimold Place, and Creature (the house elf). Someone has already mentioned the back story on Voldemort (Tom Riddle). We also get an idea of what the other Horcruxes might be. Can't wait for you to experience the finish of this amazing saga! IMHO, this is one of the greatest hero stories ever written. I listen to the audio books over and over. I never get tired of them.

ron really is a great character, if you look at the books instead of the movies hes kind, smart, sarcastic, caring, athletic, loyal, and really funny hes the perfect opposite for hermione. if hermione were to date someone like herself they would absolutely kill eachother but hermione and ron balance eachother out. hermione being a bit uptight and closed minded while ron is more of a go with the flow kinda guy. ron is my favorite character and the movies really undermine his qualities.

One of the things the book did, was have Dudley and Harry have an real moment. It's not in the Deathly Hallows Part one the movie, but is a cut scene, but is included in the extra. If you truly hate Dudley, you need to see his turn. I promise it is worth a look. Now to watch your reaction and wait for as they have been saying, you to finish this awesome journey. Please, since you haven't took any of my suggestions before, Please watch the deleted scene of Harry and Dudley. Anyone else who has never seen it, definitely worth a look.

The moments in this reaction where your both sat open mouthed as the big moments happened was great fun. Amber’s frustration at the end said it all! This is the point in the movies where it starts to become a much darker story. Your going to love the twists in the movies still to watch.

When I read that Dumbledore was dead in the book I screamed so loud my husband thought someone in our family was dead. I sobbed for hours. In the theater so many people screamed...I hadn't ever thought about it but after hearing y'all react to the cursed girl and the creatures in the water, I think you're right, this one is a horror movie. Malfoy's expression during the scene with the girl was guilt. Guilt for hurting her. Then with Dumbledore he clearly doesn't want to kill him. I think I always felt sorry for Malfoy because I know what it's like to have a Sociopath for a father and a racist for a mother. It's a struggle to not turn in to a version of your parents when they are terrible people. Malfoy's only experience of kindness or true friendship is at Hogwarts. And because his parents are Death Eaters he has lost the one place that was safe for him. Yes, he's an awful bully. But most of the time bullies are children who never knew love or only knew fear. So for that, I pity him. It's why Dumbledore doesn't want to give up on him or any other child who needs Hogwarts.

I didn't get into Harry Potter until way way later, but I remember meeting my friend for coffee (he was like 27 at the time) and he was bawling into his latte because Dumbledore died in the books and I was just so confused. Later on, I totally understood it. This book is actually the most different than the movie mostly because there are more memories that Dumbledore shows Harry that explain nearly the entire history of Voldemort. I remember wondering how they were going to make this book into a movie because it seemed almost unfilmable to me, but when I finally saw it, I was pleasantly surprised by the choices they made. Much of the material of the book is missing, but they got the point across quite well.

Butterbeer is AMAZING, I use to work at Universal Hollywood, and that was my favorite employee discount, put simply it's 3 versions, a regular (which is like a cream soda/rootbeer), you can get it hot that gives you a hot cider sensation feel, OR my personal favorite a frozen one which is basically like a Icecream float/rootbeer float, it is so good & such a treat. NO CLUE whats in it (it's a top secret for real that employees can't know). Let me tell yall, my family, my peoples, YOUR HURT..took me back to mine, BUT the silver lining, yall got 2 movies in 2 weeks, CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS CLIFF HANGER & HAVING TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK NEXT DAMN YEAR!?!?!? I love how guys reacted to Hermione & Ron And many always debated Ron & Hermione or Harry and Hermione. Everyone either wanted one or the other, with lots of course choosing HARRY. he's the lead character and the hero of the story. But from what I remember JK rowling said she never even considered harry as a love interest for.hermione, she not only felt that their relationship was more brother-sisterly in nature. But also when she decided on her having feelings for RON, she said it's always the main guy (or the HERO) that ALWAYS ends up getting the girl/ ending up with the main girl counter part. She wanted for once the best friend of the hero to have the girl choose HIM as the object of.her affection, over the hero. And also, Ron always has felt like he's "Harry's sidekick" always feeling second fiddle to.his best friend who is famous ( sure he never asked for any of that fame, and attention, but he still has it regardless!). So it was also a way for once that he got the girl over harry. Her affections weren't for harry, who everybody assumed it would be he's HARRY POTTER. So for her to have feelings for Ron over harry is huge.

I always liked the idea of Ron and Hermione. He's talented, but lacks self esteem and is a little lazy, so she can help him be his best. And she's so talented and smart, but she can get stuck up about it, so Ron can remind her to be kind and generous. And I thought Hermione was a bit too much of a nag for Harry. The boy deserves some peace!
@tosh4771
@tosh4771 Год назад
@@AutumnForest862 I also always appreciated that Ron acted like an actual teenaged boy in the series. His reactions make sense when people think about the fact that he's a kid having these emotions. Hermione is naturally mature and Harry is forced to be in grown up situations, so Ron's attitude at times seems like he's being a brat but he's actually being perfectly rational for his age.

As always, loved your reaction to this! When you guys get emotional, so do I...in ALL of your reactions! I am a fan of both the films and the books, and they do leave out a LOT in the films. For example, they don't explain WHY Snape is the Half-Blood Prince. His mother was a witch and his father was a Muggle (hence the Half-Blood part) and his mother's maiden name was Prince. It's a very simple answer and maybe that's why they didn't include it, but when you hear Prince, you automatically think royalty or something. Finally, I'm sure everyone is aware of spammers on reactors pages, at least I hope so. I would hate to see someone fall victim to it like I almost did. Luckily, I figured out it was spam pretty quickly. I just don't want anyone else to experience that, so please don't click on anything that may look like it comes from Jay and Amber. I'm sure if they were giving away something, they would let all of us know. 😃
